I did know about, Gary Morton, but had no idea who Desi had married nor had I ever seen a picture of her. Thank you for “filling in the blank.” Lucy and Desi a la “I Love Lucy” hold a special place in so many hearts, including mine. ❤️💕❤️

I knew that Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz had both gotten married with other people after they were divorced. I m glad they were both happy with their new spouses, especially Lucy. Since she suffered so much because of Desi s behavior with other women. She deserved to have a faithful husband. She found that in Gary . Thank goodness.

Desi hooked up with a Lucy lookalike. Lucy hooked up with a Borcht Belt "comic" who very much resembled comic B.S. Pulley. If Desi had been able to step away from the booze & cheating, they would have stayed married.

I have been a huge "I Love Lucy" fan since I can remember, and the show ended when I was a year old. My brother is nine years older than me and all we have to do is say a line from one of the episodes and we'd laugh our butts off... didn't matter how many times we saw the episodes. I knew Lucy married Gary, and knew Desi had remarried to a woman who did resemble Lucy. I understand that Lucy wasn't going to do the show unless Desi portrayed her husband... good decision! ❤

It seemed from what I read that Gary was a good step-father and did not interfere with the relationship they had with their father. Also when asked, Lucie Arnaz felt that Edith Hirsch Arnaz, Desi's wife, was like her best friend.

It's funny - both Lucy and Desi changed their birth certificates when they got married, she made herself 3 years younger and he made himself 3 years older - so they would be the same age. When she remarried to Gary Morton and he was 13 years younger - no problem; Edith was the same age as Desi. Carol Burnett's 3rd husband was over 20 years younger than she - again no problem.
@HenPapirman2 жыл бұрын
Almost true, it was both of them who wanted the second divorce. Lucy wanted it but she said she would like it to come from Desi, he needed to do the break out.. and Desi did ask for it eventually, telling Lucy that they will tell everyone that she had filed for divorce. Regarding Gary. It was Lucille's mom who told her to not let that guy get away (Gary.) Gary is fishy in my opinion. 1. I don't believe he had never seen one episode of I Love Lucy, for 9 years? Yeah... nope. 2. Gary spent an awfully lot of time on the golf court. Every time she was asked where he was, she said he's on the golf court but at least he's faithful..- At least she thought he was, I mean think about it Gary was allegedly faithful to Lucy but two years later he's married to a golf pro?! Gary's relatives themselves, said he was a jerk, according to someone who knew Lucy on her last year of her life.

Here's Lucy - first 3 years was with Vivian Vance and the last 3 years of the series was with Lucy and Gale Gordon and various stars appearing on the show. I actually like the years 3 years when various stars came on - Dean Martin, George Burns, were my two favorite episodes, but most were very good. Lucille won two Emmys with the series 1967 & 1968.

I Love Lucy was a golden classic comedy show. The show was a part of American comedy which today is iconic. Desi and Lucy were NOT a great couple. They held their marriage together for many reasons however it was doomed. She, I believe made the show what it was. Her comical talent was unmatched by many comedians. Lucile Ball will forever live in the hearts of many Americans growing up in that era. We treasure her because she made us all laugh with her antics. What a lady--beautifully talented lady.

Not fair that Gary's new wife inherited what was Lucille's. Should have gone to the children, especially the personal things. Lucille should have made sure of that in her will 😔
@LJ-ht4zs2 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that things were offered to the children (Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. they did not come forward to take the personal objects - but when they were put up for auction by Gary Morton's wife - then they wanted the materials. Don't know why the adult children waited - they sued and lost in Court proceeding. I think cause of their many years delay in not coming forward, not really sure.

I think Lucy did not particularly want to remarry - however her friend Paula Stewart, set up a meeting with Gary Morton and on their first date Lucy really liked him, saying to her friend Carol Burnett "He makes me laugh". I think Lucille Ball looked great when they were dating and got married - she looked happy, relaxed, and supported. While I, like the rest of their fans, loved seeing Lucy and Desi as a couple - after learning about the hardships that Lucy had to endure - I was happy for her to meet and marry and man that she felt good with.

Gary Morton said he never either heard of or saw the series "I Love Lucy". Since he was a comic in the Catskills - either he was not telling the truth or living under a rock. It was the most famous comedy series 1951-57. When their son Desi Arnaz Jr was born - it was front page news - bumping the inauguration of DD Eisenhower.

So was Desi faithful to his second wife? Did he quit the booze?
@LJ-ht4zs8 ай бұрын
No to both questions. Edith, his second wife, almost divorced Desi for the same reasons: women, booze and gambling addictions. At least Lucy and Desi kept their money separate - if Desi gambled his problem. However in the 2nd marriage Edith was more vulnerable - she was not working and did not fair well in her divorce to her 1st husband. He knew that Edith was cheating with Desi and had it verified - Desi said let's forget about it - I have enough money. At times the money issue was very strained in their marriage- at least Lucy did not have that stress. Desi had two women who really loved him and i think he loved them too - but put them under a lot of pressure and unhappiness.

My comment has the goal to share an up building message full of hope. Jehovah God promises that those who have died will live again in Isaiah 26:19: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise. Wake up and shout for joy, residents of the dust! For your dew is like the morning dew, and the earth will let those who are powerless in death live again." He will bring them back to life; that is the hope of the resurrection. Have a super great peaceful day...

Desi was 6 years younger and Mortan about 12 or 13 years younger. Such a big deal made out of this!!! Men can marry women much younger than them 20-30 years or more NBD. Often not only an age discrepancy but a physical attractive discrepancy.

I believe his wife first offered materials to the children when Gary died, they did not respond. Years later when she wanted to auction things off (having kept such for 10 years after Gary's death) her children wanted it and demanded Susan give it to them. She asked for $250,000 and they sued, and lost. In the auction she got pretty close to that figure. I think her children Desi and Lucie were unreasonable - I think they inherited 10 million each from their father and 10 million each from the mother (as well as inheriting properties) So how come they could not come up with $250K between them?
