This is both funny and suspenseful. It's plenty of situation comedy. Frankly the old time screen writers had wonderful imaginations.

Frank Tashlin, who wrote the Screenplay had a background in animation. He directed some of the early Porky Pig cartoons and the first Fox and the Crow cartoon. He graduated to live action comedies, and eventually directed Jerry Lewis comedies.

I used to live in a small one bed room apt. It was at a marina on an Island in Washington state. I lived there for about seven years for 400 a month back in the early 2000s. One sunny day I walked down to the docks and was just kickin back enjoying how beautiful it was. An old lady probably in her late eighties or older walked up to me and said young man do you live in that apartment and I said yes I do. She said to me that she had lived there years ago and that it was the best place she ever lived. She said that she had lived all over the world even on the French Riviera and no place that she lived was better then my little apartment. I was very surprised by that statement but I had to agree it was a beautiful place to live.( It was on a small cove with a state park on the other side of the cove so it was quiet and peaceful and beautiful.) Later that day my landlord the owner of the marina and a close friend said "do you know who that was? I said no I didn't, but she was very nice. She said it was Jamie Fuller of the Fuller brush company fortune. That explained her living all over the world.

OH my gosh, I laughed so hard. Saw it before, couple times, but always forget how dang good it is. Lucy is priceless, and Eddy too. Funny all the way through, and a strong ending: extinct nowadays in cinema.

Oh my. I never knew Eddie Albert and Lucille Ball did a movie together! Lucille dressed up to sneak into the theater!!! Dancing a burlesque routine!!! Running around in a short costume afterwards, getting drunk trying to stop wine from pouring out of s barrel ... 🤣 She wore the first publicly viewed mini skirt too. What I mean is, the first time a mini skirt would have been worn on a public street in the movie. (A short skirt would have been worn when a character was in a play or a show.) And Eddie's comedic timing was great also. Very funny movie with more twists and turns than a mountain road! A great movie. Thanks for posting it.

I just saw this movie yesterday for the first time and I can’t remember when I’ve laughed so hard! what’s amazing to me but not surprising .. is how naturally funny Lucille Ball is. she was truly gifted. in my opinion .. I can see how she went from being funny to mastering her comedic talent with “I Love Lucy!” she started with funny and crafted hilarity. these movies were just a taste of what she had to offer! she truly was the queen of comedy 🎭

This slapstick comedy by Lloyd Bacon was done perfectly! It reminds me a lot of the Bob Hope murder comedic series that he did. You can see early Lucy facial expressions and slapstick comedy that she became known for.

You can see how she went into comedy. She saw it here, and Eddy. She was at the right place, at the right time, many times. Our lives would Be a lot sadder without Lucy. She sure was something! I remember reading that! There were a lot of our actors ( mainly fellas) that served our country.Even our Julia Child.😊
@LJ-ht4zs2 ай бұрын
@@susanfaulkner2304 Eddie Albert, Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Clark Gable, Walter Mattau - all served in WWII as well as Julia Child and Bea Arthur. Many more stars enlisted - I think Fonda was not accepted at first, too thin with his height, he spent a few months bulking up and then was accepted. Also, many stars went around the country (like Lucille Ball) selling war bonds - also Lucille entertained the troops and went to the hospitals with wounded troops also entertaining along with Desi Arnaz.
