My girlfriend and I actually met you while you were filming this and you were nice enough to come over and chat with us. It was interesting to see how much work actually goes into your videos. I was waiting to see your review. Your take is pretty spot on with our experience. The resort was nice to look at and great proximity to the beach / pools. But compared to other places in Punta Cana we found the food and service sub par. We checked in a different day then you, but same thing, about 1+ hour wait to check in after traveling all day sucked. The pool bar (usually our favorite spot) was almost unusable do to the number of people crowding it 11:00 to 4:00. I think they need to add more for a resort this size. top notch, honest review as always!

Went here 8 years ago and the most memorable was the jacuzzi on the balcony the lobby bar and the scenery... I can't remember the food, I think I blocked it out. The nightclub was pretty decent at that time, it was one resort we did A LOT of drinking lol

I'm first. Woo Hoo! James thanks for another great video. Every one of these videos you do at family resorts reinforces what I already know. Family resorts are a no go for me as a single person. As far as price it's like cruises. Most people who go on them go because most cruises are CHEAP. I've been at really nice (EXPENSIVE) All Inclusives and I've been at middle of the road all inclusives (MUCH CHEAPER). Here's what I learned. If you want a chance at a really good experience you have to pay for it. If you go CHEAP don't expect it to be that great. Plus the people at the high end places, generally, tend to be much more mature. They would rather pay more and not have to deal with all the issues that the lower quality places have.

Arguably, food could be the most important part of the all-inclusive experience. If it isn't decent or delicious, then there is no appeal or differentiation from a standard hotel/resort.

We stayed there with our grandchildren. They have an amazing kids water park, the pool has areas for kids to swim. They have a buffet area for kids. My husband and I golfed almost everyday. We had a great time.

This place was great in my opinion. I was there in June of 23 and heading back this June. I paid $3100 for a Junior Suite for 3 people, direct flights from JFK on JetBlue. This is the best place in Punta Cana for that price and I dont give a fukwhat anyone says. Do you people, and experience it for yourself. You might find it great or you might find it sucks but you figure it out.

We have been to Barcelo Bavaro two years in the row (2023 and 2024); both times a big group (under 20 people). Before our first trip, we have been super worried about food based on many negative reviews, but the truth is, if you adjust your expectations accordingly, the food is fine. The thing is, this place is massive and needs to feed hundreds of people, so it is no surprise that the food is going to be on a bland side. Personally, I really enjoyed the breakfast, the number of different pastries and good coffee was enough to set the mood for the rest of the day. Omelet stations were also very good in my option. I am not into sea food, but found plenty of different options like chicken or beef/pork. I cant imagine anyone starving at this place. The positive side is that each time I didn't gain any weight after returning from each trip :)

About the shows: from 9-10 they do something to involve the crowd, like karaoke or something fun, at 10pm they have shows each night with dancers and themed entertainment. The Spa: Is beautiful, you can use the other services all day if you purchase a spa treatment, if you book the first 24 hrs you are there you get buy one get one free right now. Adult pool on palace side: I didn’t see you review the adult pool on palace side, great bar, close to food, bathrooms and beach. Food: it is not 5 star, you can find good things at the buffet, the Japanese restaurant is very good, they might not have the best sushi, but we have gone a few times and everyone likes their meal. Seafood & Italian we pass on all the time, steakhouse is ok. Again, for the money you can’t beat the resort and surroundings. They keep the grounds and hotel shared space immaculate.

We have been to Dominic resorts. I don’t know how. You get to your resort but we never take the shuttle provided in your package We grab a cab We get there atleast and hour and a half before the rest of the crowd that is coming to the same resort on your shuttle bus. It’s worked 100 percent of time and is well worth the 40 bucks US

I loved the resort. The beach was seaweed free when I was there, but I have to agree with the food statements. The buffet was better than the restaurants and I went to them all. I would definitely go back, but they have to step it up with their restaurants! Gym is undersized but the room was amazing, spacious and very clean!!

Hahaha enjoyed this so much! I stayed at this resort last January and let me tell you . . . I lost 5 pounds!!! We survived off of the buffet pizza and chips from our room the entire time haha. Food at the buffet/most restaurants was horrific. Pools, views, rooms, and drinks were nice. But you can definitely find a much better resort if you go to Punta Cana!

It’s low cost, but you get what you pay for. Spend a little more and book next door at Lopesan. I just came back from Lopesan on Tuesday. Wow !

1:24 in and I'm already laughing. The "helper/baggage person/whatever" looked at my VIP room and sent me to the normal check-in line and not the premium room. It took over an hour and there were only 4 couples ahead of us, just to be turned away and sent to Premium. I was furious. Oceanfront room I was given had a broken large window frame. The room and bed were completely wet from the humidity. It was like sleeping on a sponge. They had someone "fix it" and it broke within hours. I had it held up by bunched up towels for the remainder of the trip. The seaweed was worse when we went in Nov. There 15 ft in and all the way out, nothing but seaweed/black mush. No safe areas. It was terrible.

I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that you did not review any water activities and water sports. Are there any catamarans, kayaks, snorkeling, windsurfing?? Not everybody goes on a vacation to eat all day long. The beach looks great, the amount od the seaweed looks like nothing with the current situation happening around Caribbeans.

We've been there 4 times and will be back this year. You missed the best pool. There is an adult's only pool at the south end of the property right next to a nice bar. You are correct about the food. It sucks. 2 of 4 trips I returned with "traveler's disease". I find the beach to be very nice, protected by a reef which keeps the water calm. Sea grass comes with that. I have never heard my neighbors, but we always get a suite. We always pay for Premium club. It has its own small volume check-in/out and a small buffet and drinks while you wait. There are other perks like "free" room service, access to all the restaurants etc.

I just got back from the Finest resort which is part the of Excellence resorts . It’s a great place to visit has a family side & adults side. I would recommend staying at the adults side excellence finest which is an upgraded with a lot of extra good amenities. You can have Tomahawk steak and lobster every night at the adults only lounge. Great entertainment every night, property is beautiful and clean. Many options on the style of rooms too. Top shelf liquor and great beach. No sarcasm. Staff is very friendly.

My wife and i just got back from excellence el carmen on Saturday and i would agree with everything you said about the excellence brand. This was our second trip there, and i could easily see us going back a third. We really enjoyed the fact that the resort wasn’t over crowded with people and there was so much open space at the beach and pools. Like you said the food and service was great. The place was just so chill and peaceful. My wife and i were actually talking about taking our 11 and 15 year old next year and possibly trying finest, since it has a family side. My only concern was that maybe finest/excellence might be too quiet and kicked back for them. We really enjoy El Carmen, but the entertainment and activities seemed to be a little lacking, which I personally don’t mind, since i just want to relax and be left also, but might be an issue for an 11 and 15 year old. Could you possibly give me some feed back?

Another great vlog man! I always appreciate your honest opinion. I stayed here for an event for the first time last year Labor Day weekend for about 8 days. I’m going again this year for the same reason. I’ve been going to Dominican Republic for years. This was my third resort and I must say, my least favorite. I agree with so much of what you’ve said. I ordered room service twice late at night and it was disgusting. How do you mess up a burger and fries? I did enjoy the Italian and French restaurants though. I also agree that the buffet food was far better than some of the restaurants. This resort is really popular among the locals for weekend getaways so it gets really crowded on the weekend. I’m still trying to figure out why it’s so popular though. It’s a beautiful resort and love the location of it, but I received friendlier service at other Punta Cana resorts. I did however, have Premium level service so I avoided the madness of the check-in and did so in an air conditioned premium lounge with finger food, and drinks. I wouldn’t recommend experiencing this resort outside of the premium package. I was also granted free room service but again the food was trash. We had access to any restaurant without reservation so that was cool. What I enjoyed the most was meeting people from Italy, Sweden, Canada, Nigeria and other Caribbean nations. The drinks were decent. I stayed in the panoramic seafront view suite which was amazing but all of the activities of my event were at the Adults only section. It was at the opposite site of the resort and I had to walk it most days with a healing partially torn Achilles. They did have golf cart service and a train which ran frequently but for premium service, I wanted better transport. I get a little bougie on vacation lol. All in all I had fun but Barcelo Bavaro Palace can improve on many things. Can’t wait to see your other reviews man! Your channel is a whole ass vibe!👊🏾

We had a convention there, at the beach resort. Over 200 delegates got sick. The buffet lacked refrigeration or ice. The resort's power kept going out. Without the air conditioning, the walls in the rooms were sweating, from the humidity. The sheets and bedding were damp all week. We went golfing, and they had guards with machetes, so you weren't robbed in the jungle.

I stayed here in the summer of 2022. Amazing facilities and very beautiful. I booked a VIP package which was worth it for check-in because we spent all of 15 minutes or less checking in and getting to our room. BUTTT the food was horrendous. I was with my in-laws with a few kids for a total group of 15. We’re also Latino so you’d think the food would be to our liking but it was by far the worst food we’ve ever had at a resort or on vacation. The specialty restaurants had a long wait even with reservations; they were also not very good. It took an hour for our food to come out and was always cold. Usually I gain weight on a vacation, but I definitely lost weight on this one. We had to fill up on breakfast omelettes in the morning to survive the day. The drinks at the bar were also poorly made. We didn’t figure out that the cigar lounge had an actual bartender. Idk…this place needs to step their game up for food.

We've been there, just 12 days ago as a Family with 3 kids for 13 days. The food was not delicious and the Sevice was disapointing. It used to be better, 5 Years ago but not anymore. The Beach was perfect. Crystal Clear, zero seaweed and shallow, with no waves. So Barcelo has got a 5 Star Beach. The Rooms, the Service and the Food is a straight 4.

Wow…Wow… Very accurate review as seen on other review sites. i will never go to this hotel and any Barcelo resorts .A year ago i booked at barcelo riviera maya and i cancelled because of food quality reviews ! Anyways we went instead to majestic elegance costa mujeres…It was pretty good but TRS Coral is better and if you have $$$$ more money Atelier playa Mujeres is the best we have been too at Cosca Mujeres.

Experiences, and tastes, can differ. My standards for food, especially at all-inclusives are as low as they go. Most people harshly criticize Riu food, which is generally regarded as some of the worst, and I actually find it OK - more than OK for the price.

We just got back from there….. the beach was beautiful while we were there ( much better than when I went in December a few years ago). No seaweed and very clear. I’ve been to a ton of beaches in the Caribbean so I’m very picky. I agree, the food and even the drinks aren’t great. I always found something to eat though. Oddly, I found the food better on Carnival cruises 😅. We did really enjoy our stay, but I tend to make the best of any situation. Booked excursions etc. I’d go back since it is a good value.

Damn I wish I had seen this vid before I booked! We are going in Feb 2025. We are staying on the Adults Only side, which in this review looked pretty good, and what we're after in terms of quiet and relaxing, but food if the food is as bad as you say, I'm going to be disappointed for sure. We've been to a good resort in Cuba many times - we adjusted our expectations whenever we were there because we understand in Cuba supply can be very limited, but even so I'd say the food was quite good. I wonder how Barcelo Bavaro compares to the average Cuban all-inclusive...

You skip the lines at check-in/out and go to the premium lounge instead, priority and unlimited restaurant reservations that can also be made prior to arrival, access to the premium level buffet and premium liquors, and hydromassages at the spa. Some of his negatives would be resolved by booking a slightly more expensive package.

Hey bro hope you doing well. I just been to this resort last week. The resort was great. Stayed in Premium superior Ocean front Suite # 4079. It has beautiful full ocean view which made my day. We also had full access to Bavaro palace all amenities include their sauna, spa services and almost empty private pool with some hot bubble type jacuzzi for premium members. My first complain is and this minimize my experience big time during my stay there that they DO NOT have English channels at all on their tv. We even call their house keeping guy he tried to change some settings but he couldn't. I love to end my day watch a good movie doesn't matter if it's old or I watched it before it just made me feel good while I'm on vacation. Second is their food taste all kinda same. Pizza and even French fries I often found not property baked. Ala carte restaurant CORAL sea food was great and Sanatafee steak house was Ok. Besides this it was a great experience overall but still I really missed watch a late night movie experience there!!

This video didn't show even half of the Barcelo Palace property, restaurants, rooms, places, etc. The resort has more than 7 o 8 room types, even a family type rooms. You didn't show the Family area with the 2 water parks. The food is not that bad as you say. The hotel is nice an i always have had a great time with my family when i visited.

Is it possible to go to the palace part of the hotel, and eat in the beach part? Or go to the beach hotel and then swim and eat in the palace part?

I was there from 6/14 to 6/21. I do agree that the food is not the greatest but you can always find something to eat. I preferred the buffet over the restaurant also. My steak at the buffet was better than the one in the steak house and the seafood spot should officially close down. The beach was flawless, zero seaweed the week I was there. The ground are massive and very well maintained. All in all, I had a great time and will definitely go back.

We have booked Barcelo in the Riveria Maya many times over. Check-in is almost always a disorganized painful experience bordering on chaotic shit-show. The check-in has to be the number one complaint on review sites like trip advisor and I have no idea why they do not address it. You only get one chance to make that first impression as they say, you would think they would strive to make that impression positive.
