Football is such a funny game. In 2020, who would’ve thought that 4 years later Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski would be at Barcelona following beating them 8-2 with Bayern Munich. If anyone told you that at the time, no one would believe you, that’s a reality that’s happening right now after they sacked Xavi in a very harsh way. Then when Busquets went Xavi wanted Zubimendi or Kimmich! The board turned around and said they don’t have money and can only afford Romeu for 4m! At the same time Deco and Laporta signed Roque behind Xavi’s back but Xavi was not having it, he was trying to prove a point that he’s the manager at the end of the day and the board can buy whoever they want but if Xavi doesn’t want to play the signing they make then he’s not going to!

Even though sacking Xavi was very harsh and disrespectful after they begged him to stay, I personally think that Hansi Flick is a massive upgrade on him at Barcelona. With all due respect to Xavi he’s done what he’s been asked to do and that’s all we can say about him and while he deserved more time and patience in this long term project, it just wasn’t working out and even after he stayed he was always going to end up in this situation where they would sack him. Even though the project came a little too early for him and he made mistakes and wasn’t always perfect, he didn’t fail there he did a good job under the circumstances that they were dealing with. Despite their poor record in Europe, in the darkest period in their history, they won the league and Spanish Super Cup and overall that was seen as a sign of progress for them even though they still had issues in the champions league. He’s taken this team as far as they can go and while he’s given a lot of academy players chances to prove himself he’s a young manager, if Barcelona are a team that wants to compete with Real Madrid and have any chance of coming closer to winning the champions league, then they need an elite manager in charge. With a proper manager in the team, you expect more consistency better tactics and system and the team to show a better version of themselves. That’s the expectation of this team to be competing for trophies and going deep in Europe because realistically they have a squad that should be doing much better than what we saw from them under Xavi. A reminder that he’s reuniting with Robert Lewandowski and under him he had the best season of his career with Bayern Munich where he should’ve won a Ballon Dor by now. We can question him due to the fact that his stint with the Germany national team didn’t work out, but we have to remember that their downfall started before Joachim Low stepped down from the job meaning that their struggles were kinda out of his control even if he had a squad that should’ve done much better than what you expected from them. Club and international football is very different and some managers suit coaching a team at club level than at international level. We shouldn’t forget the impact that he made at Bayern Munich even if he only lasted 18 months there. In the 2019-20 they were inconsistent and they ended up sacking Nico Kovac and while Flick used the same system and Bayern Munich were a dominant force and in that season they won the treble and became the 2nd team in football history to win a sextuple which is 6 trophies in a year. BTW this was Bayern Munich at their very best, I’m not talking about 2024 Bayern Munich under Thomas Tuchel. You have to be a special manager to win 6 trophies in a span of 12 months and that’s what Flick achieved. At Barcelona there’s an expectation to win trophies and compete on all fronts at the highest level, managing a club like that isn’t as easy as you think it is. While people prioritize winning, when you manage Barcelona, you’re expected to not just win, you have to win in a certain way. You’ll get criticism if you’re not playing an attractive brand of football even when you’re winning games. This isn’t the Pep Guardiola era anymore where they were dominating teams left right and center, football has evolved over the years meaning that you can win games in a way in which you used to while also being a better team from a mental perspective and come up with new ideas. What this manager has to do is implement the right tactics get the players he wants maybe build around a certain player or 2 and see if they can go from there. Let’s see if Laporta looks foolish by sacking Xavi in this manner and while it does feel wrong, Flick could be the right manager for Barcelona in the long run because he is proven and he knows a thing or 2 about winning trophies at the highest level of club football and that’s what this team needs.

@@johnathanZuniga there’s a massive difference between club and international football and some managers are suited to coaching with their club as they’re able to implement their philosophies much easier compared to the national team when the players only meet up 2-3 times a year depending on whether it’s a tournament year. It didn’t work out with the Germany national team and with the disposal of talent that they had they should’ve done better, we shouldn’t ignore context because as I’ve said before, their downfall started before Joachim Low stepped down as their manager. Even though at the time Bayern Munich were an elite team, it takes a special manager to win 6 trophies and maybe Flick with Barcelona is much suited to club football we’ll see.

That's just a rumor though. There's no official quotes or interviews where he has said this. Then you factor in that he started and played Lewandowski in most games and it doesn't really make much sense. If he didn't fancy Lewandowski so much why would he keep playing him? There's Ferran and Roque on the bench. Granted neither one is a world beater at the moment, but still. He had some options. Yet he kept opting for Lewandowski. So I don't think this rumor is true at all. Just more scapegoating and piling on Lewy by the media. The guy is 36 years old and last season he finished top scorer in La Liga. This season he led the league in total goal contributions until the final few weeks. I think he still finished 2nd in total goal contributions though. And made La Liga team of the season both seasons. Yet if you listen to some of the toxic media and some of the clueless casuals you would have thought this guy scored 5 goals all season....Ironically Messi DID score 5 goals in Ligue 1 Uber Eats and nobody batted an eye. There was no agenda to destroy him. But Lewy gets around 35 goal contributions at age 35 while playing in a rubbish nursery side full of underdeveloped teenagers and suddenly the world ends. People act as if it's 40+ goals or nothing. Like anything else is a failure. When in reality Lewy still putting up elite numbers. He's also the 3rd fastest player in Barca history to reach 50 goals for the club...Which directly contradicts the narrative that he's been rubbish. He's actually had one of the best 2 year period of any Barca attacker in the history of the club lol That's what the numbers say. A club which has seen Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Rivaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, Romario, Maradona, Cruyff, Etoo, Henry, Villa, etc. Yet 35 year old "finished bum" Lewandowski is the 3rd fastest to 50 goals.

Xavi, Klopp, and Guardiola play very specific and similar styles, but they need the right profiles on their squad. They lack pragmatism, which isn’t a bad thing if you’re in a club that can sign good players that fit the vision. Xavi never had that. This season he was forced to rely on teenagers, had no reliable pivot, had to deal with multiple key players being injured, and also had to rely on an aging striker (Lewa) who was in bad form for most of the year. I think if Xavi can coach a team that can get him the player profiles he needs, then we can rightly assess his capabilities as a manager. I think he’ll return to Barca one day.

IMO he personally needs more time to coach and make those important in-game decisions. Flick is the man we need at the moment, ever since PEP we have not gotten a veteran, winning-mentality coach and that's the reality. Enrique, valverde, seiten, and so on were all masked with great single-player performances. I have high hopes for flick and his campaign.

Very excited and I don’t think people are stupid too, if they see that we’re clearly improving under Flick despite the result, people won’t complain. Ur if we start losing stupid matches like we did under. Xavi then of course: people should see improvements, a game plan, tougher mentality, greater fitness. I’m Positive

I don’t think Barca fans only want to win a certain style of way. The first year under Xavi we scrape a lot of 1-0 victories and beat a poor Madrid team. However this year they wanted a step up in game play but the team feel apart on defense, control and attack consistently. They were lucky to scrape second because of Girona stumbled. The style of play is one thing but the foundation such as covering in midfield and defense just wasn’t there all season which showed up for the team big time. I believe that what cost him his job mostly. Even the Sevilla game showed how they continued to struggle and his failure to fix the team on the go. Also I think Xavi became too confident because of his status in the club and in the dressing room which showed up on how he treated certain players

100% agree with you! Laporta was the one who brought the guy and Xavi did not like him. I think Roque is not at the level we think he is. Otherwise, I think Xavi would’ve played him way more.

For him to succeed in Barcelona, he should let Dejong , Ferran , Roberto ,Fati , Lenglent , Alonso , Eric Garcia , Araujo ,Dest go do that he can raise money enough to bring inn Benardo silver, Nico William, Kimmy, Davis , Sani , Delight from Bayern to strengthen the defense. With this he will go far as a coach in Barcelona

I actually disagree with the poor defense by Barca this season. Yeah they were terrible this season but that was because we did not have a defensive structure like Madrid does, if you watch both teams Madrid always play compact when on defense while Barca are always open and leaving holes. But it’s mostly because Xavi didn’t really know how to structure the team well defensively. Sure the defense wasn’t good regardless but the structure really made them poor

what u said basically described bad defense
@alexmontanez52745 ай бұрын
@@ssilvady and I literally said the defense was “poor”💀Compared to last year obviously its such a joke. But Xaviers structure quite literally leaves them even more exposed cuz he has no clue how to defensively set them up with his structure. Players fault but managers too, and I dont see many people talking about that too much

As much as I love Xavi and enjoyed him as a legend playing for Barca, he seemed racist, Never understood why he wouldn’t play a young player clearly talented and full of potential like Vitor but always played the young Spaniards He clearly had a beef with Dest who lit up the Dutch league and can dribble past defenders like crazy, had a good amount of goal contributions with psv and the only reason I can think is he’s inclined to give more opportunities to Spaniards
@arlert_665 ай бұрын
This is dumb. La masis players are given chances cuz they are familiar with the way our first team plays. They learn this from an early age and most of them happen to be Spanish. There is no Spanish bias here

What other teams/fans don’t realise is if Barca doesn’t play is Barca we have to rely on referees which majority of the time won’t side with us so what we decide was to play perfectly in every game so that referee don’t even have to make decision to sway the result. Just this season alone Barca lost 12 points bc of referee on the other hand Real Madrid has bailed out by referee bc Barca n Real Madrid had similar situations occur but Barca one was declined while Real Madrid was accepted n if we complained other fans say we have to win n this it brings us back to why we Barca have to play perfect game.

Correction: The reason of Xavi being fired is NOT because of Victor Roque. It was about the comments of what he was saying on the press conference in the match against Almeria saying that "We cannot compete the next season due to financial issues but we will try of what we have" and also, just to remind you: Xavi did not want Victor Roque in the first place, HE DID NOT WANT THE SIGNING OF THIS PLAYER, so why Barca sign this player? very simple - Deco, he was the reason why he did sign Victor Roque to Barcelona and NOT Xavi. Xavi and Deco, they do not have good relationship since Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff left as Barcelona Sporting Directors. Hansi Flick, let me refresh your brain just to remind you. He was the same coach that scored 8-2 agains barcelona as Bayern Manager/Coach, he was the only German Manager to win the SEXTUPLE apart from Guardiola and lastly and the most important part is that the Bayern players we're good physically prepared which is Barcelona does not have. You said that under Hansi Flick will have the agressive attacking but less defense, and its not that the case. The team will have the agression but also the best defence which is the reason why he won 6 trophies in one season.

Bro xavi, laporta, and deco didn't see eye to eye. When it came to decisions there were a difference of opinions. One of these differences of opinions is Roque, as he was a player wanted by deco but not xavi. Yet he did not give the guy playing time. We still got to thank xavi for what he has done with the youngsters and for a league title.

Vitor roque went to Barca because Deco wanted him there and didn’t bother telling xavi that roque was arriving at the club. So that’s just tells you there was no communication with the Board and the manager.

Can we first of all agree that Flick is a better manager than Xavi? With that in mind I would assume that the better manager can get more out of this squad. But my 2 biggest problems with Xavi was that I don't think he prepared the team to play with enough intensity. They didn't look like a team that was fit to play 90 minutes. 2. From a tactically point he got outcoached by most managers. I feel both of these situations came about because his staff was more inexperienced than he was.

We saw same thing with Fermin, cubarsi, and d rest of rhe younger team players. Victor really needed time

I don’t think Xavi was ready for the Barca job but it’s unfair to him that he had to come into a position where he had no support from the board.
