Alcaraz has a better dropshot than anybody, including big three and uses it much more frequently than any other player in history. His coach Ferrero was interviewed in a spanish radio and told that, when Carlos was younger, he was playing doing permanently dropshots in a game and the coach had to educate him not to use them that frequently. You are seeing here dropshots highlights of a partial 2022 season for a 19 years old youngster in his 1st real professional career season. This could have been a collection of dropshots for a entire career history in case this was any other professional player. This guy is ridiculous. In fact, seeing him and his effectiveness will install a trend among coaches making his players train more dropshop as a weapon, which in modern tennis was frankly outdated or even forgotten.
@javiert.592 Жыл бұрын
It's an excellent dropshot, but there are some more players who master this shot as well. What makes it different for Alcaraz is how he's got poweful shots which move his opponents backwards . Hugo Gaston has also an excellent dropshot. But I remember a match at Roland Garros against Rune in which Rune was always expecting and reading dropshots from Gaston and easily won that match.

Fed hit a drop shot against Nishikori on clay that was unreal. It was spinning sideways so wildly that it jumped the entire doubles alley. Yet he appeared to be hitting a simple drop shot. If you ever see him play in person, you would never call anything about his tennis game just “decent”. I saw him, and was virtually unable to speak. His practice opponent just shook his head several times. Fed has generated 7200 rpm on his slice, but it won’t appear that way from his swing.
