That’s only Brock. Each of the other gym leaders have a different requirement, such as showing a cute pokémon at Erika’s gym, catching 50 pokémon to enter Koga’s gym, or being above level 15 for Misty’s gym. By the time you get to the gym, you should have already completed or be close to meeting the requirements to enter.

@@senorlechuga8832 Gym is a challenge, tho - they deleted EV values and replaced them with Candies, so you basically can play game without Exp Share or any EV values against trained trainers. The challenges/task makes it only more exciting similar to Alolan tasks. In FRLG you can't do something like that - and on top of that they gave Charmander Metal Claw - so it isn't like the game is harder at all.

Why didint Game Freak fuse the two catching styles from the main core games and pokemon go? Its not even that difficult, just use the pokemon in front of the party to weaken the wild pokemon (the same way in the main line games), and then throw the pokeballs the same way in pokemon go.

My reasons to dislike this game: 1) *adds alolan forms and mega evolutions into the game* Oh... Cool.. *Removes future gen normal evolutions like crobat* 2) the story. WTF IS HAPPENING? Red and blue literally go through the same story line in the past, which means red beat team rocket and became champion later, but chase does exactly the same things as red, so... What is happening here? Did team rocket decide to do literally the same exact plan twice? Did cubones mother die and go to the afterworld, and another cubones mother died again? So many plot holes because they changed the characters, which was already completely unnecessary. No one asked for chase and trace. Red was a better protagonist (idk he just is) and blue was *FAR* better as a rival. 3) no abilities or held items. Yes, these games are remakes of gen 1, but these features are important competitively. So they should have put it into the game. Furthur, frlg had these features even though they were direct remakes. So why did they not put these features into the game HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM? Easy, because the 7 year olds playing this would have a hard time figuring out the mechanics. This game was so deliberately made for kids, they throw it at your face since the very beginning. I mean, not even the hand holding part in the game, just the first title screen! "Please select the language". _if you're not sure what to do, ask an adult to help you choose a language_ LIKE WTF IS THIS MAN???

I'm not the biggest fan of Let's Go, but as long as the core series games don't turn into what Let's Go was like, I don't have any reason to hate them. They aren't bad games, but a lot of the shit they did was just dumb. Held items and Abilities being gone are the most notable things that I dislike being gone. However, being able to have your Pokemon follow you again, and Pokemon sizes actually being relevant for once were pretty cool. It's neat seeing an Onix tower over a Pikachu instead of them basically being at eye level. HMs being removed was also a nice QOL thing, but to be fair, that was something Sun and Moon did first.

I mean, if it truly WERE an accurate remake, we wouldn't get Alolan formes, Dark type moves, Steel type moves, etc. They were removed for the sake of making the game easier and more accessible to people, but to be fair I don't quite get that reasoning? Even in a casual playthrough of a normal game abilities and held items don't mean much outside of looking our for a poison point, static, flame body trigger etc.

I kind of don't like that HMs as a concept are taken out but at the same time I didn't like how they handled them in the first place. I hope that for the next game reinvent the idea of HMs, because I really don't like Poké Mounts. I'm not so sure how Let's Go does it, but ever since I knew only the original Pokémon were in, and that there were no abilities neither held items I just stopped caring for them, those two add a little bit of depth to the gameplay which makes winning battle underleveled so much fun, as well as oportunity for really cool bosses that I think this game would just be a grind game (defeating a boss whose level is under yours is just so boring, that even if there isn't that much grind because the game does it for you, it just makes the whole experience boring overall).

@@ItsNep Yeah, that's what I mean. I think the concept of using a Pokémon of your party to pass roadblocks or increase movement is great. My problem is more that they only work with very specific moves. I understand that for gen 1, this could have been due to a tecnical limitation but now that certainly isn't. If they want to prevent players to pass roadblocks too early they can just tie them to badges like it was originally. This will not eliminate HMs but it will make them optional, so for example if your Pokémon knows Psychic it can move rocks, or if it have Slash or Crunch it can cut down trees, with acua-jet you can move through water/climb up waterfall, etc. It would make the world much more alive and interesting as well as making each player team during the adventure both practical and usable for combat. In the seven gen games you have to worry only about combat and that's kind of boring. Another thing which should be necesary is to make the moves inside HMs like the non-HMs moves (I still don't understand why are they diferent in games these days).

A paywall is a subscription fee you have to pay to get a service. This sounds more like limited edition content you have to get pokeball plus to obtain. Your original comment is misleading because by paywall it sounds like you have to pay a monthly or annual fee in order to play Let's Go which isn't true. Also Pokemon has already done something similar with Pokemon Colloseum where you have to get a certain edition to unlock Jirachi (which was the only was to get Jirachi in gen 3). Still sucks but thankfully I'm not huge on catch-em-all

As for jirachi, there were more ways to get it. There was colosseum, pokémon channel, there were distribution etc. This is actually a new low for gamefreak. We are not even sure if we would be able to transfer mew from let's go to gen 8 when it comes out since this seems to be its own separate thing.

Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully gen 8 will be much more challenging, my main problem with the new games are that they're so easy. I like the idea of exp share so your party stay at equal levels, but it was much better executed in previous games. Now it's just broken. Haven't played Let's Go but the candies seem pretty broken too, definitely should have a limit on how much they can boost stats. Just my opinion though

In FireRed and LeafGreen you could spend hours training in the wild or using the VsSeeker to get a good level in your Pokemon to fight the gym leaders or the elite four and champion. Hell I spend a week getting my Pokemon from level 52 to 66 to rematch Blue. Adding the fact you had to train each Pokemon individually and only use the EXP Share in one Pokemon, this games were more of a challenge

I wish they would just do Pokemon games again the way they did it back in the GBA and early DS era! I miss the pixel graphics, the higher difficulty level and the way bigger amount of content these games had! With you there, I don't get the 3D-style of the newer games, though Colosseum and XD are great, (also, if you compare the sprites, the Pokémon's colors are actually more pale and/or dull than they were. I notice it in particular with Shiny Pokémon...). I enjoy playing Moon, and I'm sure I will like playing Ultra when I get to it, but the design feels...strange. I am currently playing Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed, and I find the fights much more engaging. I agree on the lack of content too, as I find the lack of satisfying post-game stuff rather disappointing. Alpha Sapphire's felt rather tacked on and cheap, and I have no idea about the rest of them. HeartGold's is of course straight from the originals, and Pokétips has said all he needs to about FR and LG's. You are not alone in your opinions!

Well, you forgot to add that FRLG have abilities and held items, making the battles more interesting. Also, LGPE cut mechanics from newer Pokemon games that shouldn't be cut out, like interaction with every Pokemon and not just your starter, Triple and Rotation battles (they were availiable in gen 6 in a much less powerful console, there's no point on taking them away), day and night system (seriously, why?), cross-gen evolution (as well as breeding), bike (I know Pokemon are now used for that, but what if you don't have a big Pokemon to ride in your party? Or what if you want to listen to the ride theme while exploring?), and the only good mechanics they kept were riding and walking Pokemon (which was going to be implemented since SM but because of hardware limitations it couldn't happen), Physical and Special split (which has been a must since DPPt in every game, and they even took away things like Special Fighting, Rock and Ground moves in LGPE), and unlimited TMs and removing HMs (which have also been a must pretty much since BW). TL;DR: Fire Red and Leaf Green were amazing for their times; Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee it's pretty lackluster and has a lot of removed content for no real reason. They could have made it compatible with the 3DS Alola games so you could transfer original Kanto Pokemon, Pokemon from GO, and see battles in Full HD (kinda like how Colosseum and XD worked with RSE and FRLG), but they totally wasted a big chance.

They took away triple and rotation battles in Gen 7, it's not Let's Go's fault for that one, just blame having no real competitive scene like how single and double battles do. (Though if they expand Co-op greatly for Pokemon 2019 it would be cool to see triple battles return for that.)

I remember how fun FRLG were when I was young. Before beating the elite 4, all I wanted was a dragonite. I tried my lv. 18 dratini for hours on three island. Fainting hundreds of ponyta and rapidash. I even got a team full of meowth with pickup to make it to faster. After evolving it and teaching it outrage at lv. 61 I almost sweeped the entire elite four (except for Lorelei and lance). still one of my fondest memories. I tried to do something similar in let's go eevee, but the grinding wasn't nearly as fun and I got bored and gave up around level 40.

XxKrooKxX HeartGold and SoulSilver is a remake of Gen 2, and it still added Gen 3 and 4 Pokémon into the game. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is a remake of Gen 3, and it still added Pokémon from generations 4, 5, and 6. And sure, these all require the National Pokedex to get the new Pokémon anyway... but at least the game doesn’t tease you with it. Imagine if you have a Golbat on your team in FR/LG, even if you don’t know Crobat exists it’s pretty annoying for your Golbat to level up, start evolving, then have the game go "oh it can’t actually evolve yet" UNTIL YOU BEAT THE ELITE FOUR.

When there is a sequel, let us hope that Let's Go Gen 2 or Gen 8 itself will give you the option to catch Pokemon both methods. That reminds me. Crystal from the Pokemon Special Manga nicknamed the Catcher, is a pro in catching Pokemon IIRC without weakening them. Also if the LG mechanic is going to be improved, there is a chance that the catching chain will also make HA pokemon more likely to appear. To compare SOS battles in Gen 7 would have been much better, if it allowed you to catch Pokemon even with 2 on the screen. It would have saved us so much time.

cardboard shelf imbue the Pokémon is almost assured to run away if you don't catch it right away, and the adding of berries is just a pain. I've never played Pokémon GO so it just doesn't appeal to me.

4:25 - I reached that in my Pokémon Leaf Green! (6 hours ago - reached Celadon City. A few minutes after that, I played the Game Corner. Got 909 coins and bought Clefairy. Now I'm racking up my coins for a Porygon (6500 coins) I have 3000+ coins now!

Just so everyone knows, the catching mechanic used in Let’s Go isn’t permanent. It’s just for this Let’s Go series and won’t be used in the new Gen 8 games (unless maybe they make you weaken the Pokémon and then do the catching)

I agree. Plus, I like the idea of weakening the target Pokémon you want to catch, which I would do by using a Scyther that has the move False Swipe (which comes in handy for catching a lower-leveled Pokémon), and then using a Poké Ball (such as an Ultra Ball, which is really neat and has a better catch rate than a Great Ball) to catch said Pokémon. :)

My lest go game is taking dust in a shelve. I honestly got really bored playing it, it was too easy and not new at all. I hated te catching mechanic and not having Pokémon abilities. Eevee was cute thou. I haven’t even reached the 4th gym lmao.

I was surprised to see this video in my feed, since I don't hear these games talked about that often. I feel that FRLG are a bit underrated and don't get enough credit for how amazing they actually are -- how much thought the developers put into recreating gen1 in a different, fresh life in all the right ways (especially the music and style), while still staying very true to the originals. Fantastic remakes, fantastic games.

I’m playin Pokemon Fire Red on my gameboy advance right now, because I didn’t finish the game. I already am the champ and all, but I have my own Pokémon game tradition. I’m finished with a Pokemon game when I caught all legendary Pokémon and when I have a Team full of lvl 100 Pokémon. I’m not interested in fulfilling the pokedex, but at least 100 different Pokémon should be caught. That’s my way of finishing a pokémon game and I’m nearly done with leveling my team. I think I will gamble a little bit after the grinding and after that I visit the trainer tower and beat every category once. My game time is 57 hours right now and around 60 hours I’m done with my journey in Pokémon Fire Red (: I truly love this game! I want to have a clean cut, before I put it back in the box, I will beat the Pokémon league a last time, going into the house and save my game. It’s my personal tradition, what about you guys, do you have some kind of personal tradition too when it comes to Pokémon games? (:

@@PeruvianPotato Yup, though I never played the game to the end as I never knew what to do in it or where to go, so I usually only mention ruby and sapphire, I might play a rom of it later though and beat it with the help of a walk through.
