Becoming emotional too when the love ones & the neighborhood singing a bday song in the early morning for their Papang. The whole Philipines is not practicing this kind of culture thats why i'm so touch that some parts of our country is following this kind of this awsome tradition. But sereneding in the wee hours in the morning for the girl you like is stll common in other provinces & i experienced it myself when i was a teenager. I'm 62 now.😊 I'm very touch... Back in province when I was in high school, we did mañanita for fun to whoever was celebrating his birthday in class. Mañanita is usually done for older people in position because it requires a lot of effort like waking up at 3 in the morning so you can start the whole thing at 4AM. You have to bring someone with you who knows how to play the guitar, too. Because I knew my classmates were coming, I had my mom prepare something. Maybe it was spaghetti which is a staple for Filipino birthday parties. Good memories!
