The main strategy of the game is to understand how many houses you need to fulfill the demand of the buildings. You can leave houses unconnected and avoid mixing colours in the same roads to avoid unnecessary congestion.

Arizona doesn’t require helmets (don’t know if they’ve changed this) and because of that you have a lot of people who get horrendous head injuries bur the rest of their organs are fine so hospitals make the big bucks here. When I first learned to drive, roundabouts kind of scared me, I was more looking forwards to traffic lights. But now I'm almost the opposite. I always worry so much about driving to a light crossing, and then entering when it's red, because the speed's too high, and the yellow's too short. While roundabouts are SO easy to navigate. @@tsm688 They're pretty simple: If you're in the roundabout, you yield for no one (Unless you're changing lane) if you're trying to get into the roundabout, you yield for everyone. And because of their nature they're self regulating, so they don't have the same kind of congestion issue! Unless one of the exits is like, NEVER entered from, I guess. Gosh roundabouts are swell! (Take up so much space though.)

I like your content a lot, it would be really interesting if the developers for this game upped the AI so that they wouldnt always try to take the shortest path. Then distributor roads and the like would actually help immensely. Unfortunately though the best way to play this game seems to just segregate as much as possible so that there just isnt any chance for traffic to build up

Here's some tips from watching others. - You may want to focus highways on middle ground areas and a little less direct as stuff gets added they become less useful and will need to be moved around. - When connecting a Highway to a well used main road, you should add a little turn off before connecting it in case you need to add lights, A roundabout or another highway to that area later. Just better for the long run of dense neighborhoods. - you can actually pre plan an area by filing out the roads so certain stuff only spawns in the general area you want it to but be careful about using too many roads and run out when you need them. This is more for when you're used to it. - Sometimes you really need to make the visual sacrifice and just attach the neighborhood diagonally to save space and tiles. In this round you should have made a central left vertical highway as well as made a horizontal highway across the map from left central to upper right across the small river. Gg, this was fun and kinda intense to watch, don't forget to plan to add your bypasses earlier, when it gets faster, you're gonna need them.

Local town replaced a busy 4 way intersection with a roundabout several years ago. My friend is a police officer there. I asked him if it's cut down on accidents, he says yes, accidents were at least cut in half...but calls to that intersection have doubled or more, because at least once every DAY someone enters the roundabout the wrong way and almost causes a head-on collision, or gets scared and just stops, snarling traffic in all directions. I know people who've lived in this area for decades and they call it the worst thing the transportation dept has ever imposed on people. The Diverging Diamond intersections were a huge deal in this region when they were proposed and built, and sure they look great in studies and on paper, but in real life practice unless you have well trained drivers used to them it can be a harrowing experience.

Civil eng student here, fun fact in traffic engineering we have principle arterial (motorways), minor arterial (main roads), collectors (to main roads and houses) and local streets (to houses). Each with decreasing car speed and increasing access to property. In the game, motorways are connected to local streets, the sudden decrease in speed lead to congestion. That's why green still ticks even with a motorway. Normally we increase lanes to accommodate traffic flow but since the game locks at a 2-lane 2-way street, alternative arterial roads and collectors should be made instead. In the game, the roundabout(collector) was way too saturated. Separating and segregating it to simulate a 4 lane 2 way road would've been my approach.

I just retired from the State transportation department, and I installed some of the first roundabouts in the State. It was an uphill battle to break through the resistance, but we managed and we have a fair number in the field now. Most of mine are on local streets, although there are several on larger scale roadways as well. Unfortunately too many of the older engineers do not understand the importance of the specific design features and making sure they didn't cut corners, so to speak, was a major struggle.

@@DaftPunkSkittle I don't know the we to which you refer, but in Delaware there is a roundabout on both sides of the DMV, so yes people are tested on them. In Maryland, there are roundabouts everywhere. They are required as first consideration when the State installs new traffic control measures. Florida has a lot of them as well, as does Seattle. Don't confuse roundabouts with old style traffic circles, or rotaries. They are not the same.

Dont tell michigan DOT about this magic. "Michigan lefts" where they took out the left turn lanes onto roads. You have to turn right with traffic and jump 2 lanes, usually one being a fast lane, within ~300m into a u-turn lane. Which the u-turn lane merges with the opposite directions fast lane. I think they figured cars are a safer, better form of speed deterrent than a roundabout 😂

Omg yeah, right after I got my permit a few years ago I went to visit my mom and I had to exit the freeway, cross 2 lanes to get to the u-turn and then immediately cross another 2 lanes to turn into her neighborhood and legit had a panic attack. It was horrible

From Massachusetts here. I can safely say that roundabouts (or rotaries as we call them) are very efficient when people actually know what they are doing. I live near cape cod and the rotary at the bridge gets lots of tourist traffic and can get swamped but if more people understood how to drive through them it would work much better than a regular intersection

Bro awesome video, really enjoyed it. Just in case you didn't know: Roundabouts work that way. Because the one which is entering the roundabout is coming from your right. What the most people don't notice because almost every roundabout has the red triangle sign which orders to give priority to those who already are in the roundabout. If there's no give priority sign then you've got the right to enter. 😊 - disclaimer: I don't know how it works in other countries, I'm from Austria, that's how it works here.

I think the worst roundabout I've had the absolute pleasure of driving on is on Lee Green in Mirfield. It's where Lee Green, a side road, joins onto Greenside (on the left)/Dunbottle (on the right) and used to be a junction but was changed when I lived around there. They also changed the junction that was further down Dunbottle but changed it back fairly recently, although they still haven't changed the Lee Green one yet. The reason it's so bad is because of the angle that Lee Green is at. You give away to the right so someone on Greenside would wait for whoever is on Lee Green, and whoever is on Lee Green would wait for someone on Dunbottle. However, since people on Lee Green can see a lot of Dunbottle for quite a distance away from the roundabout, they tend to not really slow down that much. And since people on Greenside can't see that much of Lee Green, they can't see someone who isn't planning on slowing down, so they'll go into the roundabout (like they normally would as they do have right of way at that point, as the car on Lee Green isn't close enough to the roundabout for them to have to wait for them, and the car on Lee Green will also try to go on the roundabout, as they see Dunbottle is empty and don't check for someone already on the roundabout from Greenside. I will never forget that roundabout because someone almost crashed into me while on a driving lesson just before an a level exam.

you cant add a motorway right onto a roundabout - but you CAN put a single road tile coming off the roundabout and attach your motorway to that, which is very helpful.

It is best to keep all colors separated. Causes less traffic. Also you can have 2 separate individual systems of the same color. As long as every building has access to enough drivers to supply it.
