This is Why I DROPSHOT

When I just want to catch fish, I bring out the trusty old drop shot. This morning, I ended up wacking some big ol fish on it, and most of them had the bait down their throat!
Trust me on this, if you fish a clear water lake and just want to catch some numbers, try out the drop shot! Last year, it became my confidence bait, if times were tough I would tie it on and catch at least one fish! You can fish it in the grass with a long leader, or off rocky points and ledges with a shorter one. Guys, try it out, you wont be disappointed!

A small suggestion from a frequent viewer and fellow angler ... try submerging the net and holding it firmly in place just beneath the surface with one hand and leading the fish gently to it with the rod and see how that works for you. It's much better for me because that way both the fish and the net are under much better control. Considerably less angst that way I find. Keep cranking out the entertaining and informative videos. Obviously you know your stuff.

My brother in law turned me on to jog fishing. We used Getsit tubes with 1/4 oz jig heads. Caught everything on them. If you get a chance give them a try. Just bounce them slowly and wait. I've caught bass & trout and even a striper in a river in Connecticut. One time i was driving along the NJ shore and decided to get out & toss a jig into the ocean. . musta been a super lucky day. I was with my wife & son so they were only going to give me a few minutes. I caught 4 stripers in 15 minutes all short around 24", but what a blast for such a short time.. Great videos

Daaang you freaking killed it! Have you ever crossed the boarder to fish lake George NY? We absolutely lay the HAMMER on them right at ice out with vertical techniques off deep walls. Do decent with trout too, its a very deep clear lake prob 30' vizz HIGHLY recommend as your not far from it. Keep up the good work!

Best smallmouth fishery is Grand traverse bay in northern Michigan. Its a giant body of water with giant smallmouth. You owe it to yourself to visit. And if you want variety there are many lake trout, Burbot, salmon, and just about everything. People come a long way just to fish the smallmouth. Lots of 8 to 12 pounders.

i grew up in Buffalo NY area and went fishing in Canada a few times. one time we camped on a small lake that was part of 3 lakes that were like steps. they were joined by waterfalls. it was so surreal. so gorgeous. i caught a small pickeral and some other fish. then i used a small sunny as bait but changed by mind for an unspecified reason. as i was reeling it in a huge pike bit at it right in front of me. it was at least 40", the head was yuge.

What are your thoughts on the Daiwa Revros reel as in have you had any issues with it? I have one and since I'm new to bass fishing I just picked up a decent rod for it and it will be interesting to see how it does on this type of rod. Hoping for the best as its smooth as silk for now!

+Angler Outdoors the revros is reel as amazing for the money - it cold have a smoother drag and a nicer line roller but you cant complain for the price. As for the rod, i retired it. I have broken 3 of them - wouldn't recommend it.

it depends what the cover is like, if theres grass, a drop off etc. In grass you have to tie to a longer leader, i like it when the bait is just ticking the top, and on ledges i like a shorter leader. Figure out what you are throwing to, if you don't know, tie a fairly long leader and just chuck it you, you should hit some grass or a deeper area!

Ok. I fished buckhorn a lot this past season. I found a lot of nice size pan fish early on in the season then a few 2-3 LMBs. Nothing else on my line, but others others have said they caught some wallies there too. Next season I'll be looking for those 5+ smallies on Simcoe. Cheers!
