I'm latina, born and raised in Chile and I'm white as paper. I can't say how many times there's been a "minority" (mainly from the USA) telling me that I'm not latina because I'm white (???) Or (and one of my favourites) that I'm not white because I'm from latinamerica, even though my skin lacks melanin. One time a woman said to me that I was a "person of color" because I'm from latinamerica and I burst out laughing on her face, luckyly other people laughed with me because I was afraid that she would hit me or something because she looked pissed af. Latinamerican people are mixed, like that's our thing. There is white latin people and black latin people. We come in every single colour but we are still latinamericans but woke people (specially from the US) can't seem to get a simple thing like that. Damn, these people are wild.

@@arontotheleft Personally, I agree with her that CRT/postmodernism is not the way to solve racism/other issues, but too many people want to pretend that "CRT is problematic bc it's rife w/contradictions & stands in the way of solving the actual problem of racism" is the same as saying "there is no problem - racism against black people doesn't exist today". That I don't agree with. While judging people by their character is essential, character is not something you can judge at first glance or from a distance, so if you're not willing to put in the effort to get to know people in your vicinity who are different from you (ie, be in community with them, not just in the same vicinity) then it's not going to make any difference how right MLK was about that.

Thanks for the analysis and the extensive reference list in the description. One concern I have about CRT is that any intellectual framework that rationalizes original sin for an entire group of people could eventually evolve into a rationalization for genocide against them. We learned with the holocaust that the human race can rationalize *anything*, and thus must be forever on guard against that.

-- Hi. How are you this morning? I noticed you used the term "CRT" in your post. May I ask you a question? When you use the term "Critical Race theory" (CRT), do you mean the intellectual movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour? Or, do you mean something else? Thanks.

I just posted on Part 1. But, in short, you should see what's been going on in sub-cultures like Games, Comics, TV-Shows, Books, Movies, Knitting etc. They've accepted CRT for about 6-13 years now and it's all collapsing in on itself as the FANS fight back and call it out. For instance (I am/was an illustrator) did you know that Artists are not allowed to draw feminine women anymore and games are not allowed to depict them feminine? They say feminine women are sexist, the evil male gaze, patriarchy. In reality it's because pre-op TransWomen supposedly are offended by it _(You can't call it breast feeding because TransWomen can't breast feed, so they want to name it Chest Feeding)_ And last week Disney was caught forcing CRT unto its employees. So we had a fun time ridiculing the evil mouse again. Stop giving big corporations that hate you money. I don't care what race, gender, sexuality, religion you have.. People need to fight back. And if they call you Far Right? So be it, they've been doing that for 6 years now. No, the Far Right wasn't on the rise, it never was, Journalists called EVERYBODY resisting this ideology Far Right.

Absolutely agree with everything, especially about ‘the far right’ being on the rise. It never was. It was always the far left in all its forms. What everyone saw in people like Richard Spencer were red herrings. To try and make this as succinct as possible, Spencer came out vehemently for Biden. Why? Two reasons. Israel and what Trump did for historical black universities and communities. It was also Trump’s base’s support of his support for these stances. The “alt right” was always meant to smear Trump and the right, and it worked. At the end, Spencer was doing streams very seriously moving his less-than-intelligent supporters towards seeing the light on “based Biden”. The alt right was all about ethnostates (cringe) and socialism. Two things very much against right wing ideology. People called them out very early on on the right and they were roundly mocked. This was significant for myself because this was during my own personal, political awakening. I was confused considering what I had been indoctrinated with concerning Republicans. Racist, sexist, xenophobic...I was finding nothing of the sort. Especially during that time. Anyone who took part in Charlotttesville were pariahs. They all turned out to be fed informants, too, funny that. As I grew into the right, it all became abundantly clear ultimately culminating in Spencer openly stumping for his boy Biden. I mean, Spencer was a welcomed guest on cnn. Baked was doing tiktoks for Yang, denouncing his “previous altright ways”. A lot of manipulation goes on because the majority of people don’t have time to spend researching these things or bit players that help shape an overarching narrative. I just happened to watch it closely at the time. And please, research everything I have said. Spencer went on Killstream to stump for Biden. Look up how many C’ville characters are known fed rats. Including Milo, and the leader of the Groypers. They’re all racist, antisemitic scumbags, too. They never supported Trump, either. They grifted gullible Trump supporters. But, they ALL said at some point they weren’t giving him their vote. Many still retain their blue checks and cash driven socials, too, until very recently.

The civil rights movement was doing JUST FINE before this garbage came long in the early 90s and hijacked the social justice movements. I can't seem to find Christian Marxist's reply here, so I don't know if they will find it, but I'll respond anyway. My original comment would apply to any form of CRT that can be observed to have the tendencies that Kimi is referring to, and that many have observed along with her. Democracy may not be perfect, but at least part of its premise is to protect the minority from the majority. As far as I understand, Marxism obliterates the individual for the sake of the group, which is essentially the opposite story, but on a different scale. I know which system I'd rather live under.

I applaud her scholastic perseverance, but she is conflating her misunderstanding of Kimberle Crenshaw's reference to postmodernism's intersectionality of social constructs to the formal description of postmodernism's emancipation of the autonomous moral self and the vindication of its moral responsibility. Crenshaw was talking about how to incorporate various experiences of different marginalized people into CRT's practice, and how some consideration should be given to the fact that some marginalized people suffer(ed) from more than one marginalization attribute. Postmodern moral autonomy is talking about the individual's responsibility for their own actions. So, in other words, the young lady still does not get it!!

The gymnastics required to go that far are terrifying. So I told her I believe in what MLK Jr said, about judging people based on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin, and she called that racist. As an older white woman raised in a small town in Oklahoma by parents who lived through the Depression and WWII, I grew up with one gauge of people: Are they good folks? 😊 Meaning are they kind, hard working, fair-minded and open to connecting with me? (Indeed-“the content of their character.”) After moving out through my education and career to connect with many people of different backgrounds, that is still my touchstone. It heals my heart to hear you. Truly. The ugliness being spewed and the hypocrisy of so many today is so disheartening. Ouch that really hits home. I'm mixed too and I can't IMAGINE being raised from an early age to see myself as a different "thing" entirely than my own family. I think I was lucky enough to not have been raised in a family that thinks this way so that now I can see right through others' idiocy . When I already have to deal with most people who perceive me as unconnected to my family origins, it is scaring me now that they are now seemingly trying to make this written in stone. I think race can and does affect you as a mixed kid and as a mixed adult, but I couldn't imagine that a curriculum in school could help the way mixed kids are perceived by other kids at school. If anything, it would just create more misunderstanding and more ignorant comments about kid's families as the CRT race conversation isn't truly nuanced enough to capture or express mixed people's families or experiences. All the current narrative tends to deal in mostly binaristic racial terms and mixed people are either left out or spoken about in ways that are vastly oversimplifying generalities that actually erase most mixed people. And don't get me started on when they separate identities into rooms to have race discussions. Mixed people cannot fit cleanly into either "the white room" OR "the BiPoC room"!

As I scroll through the comments, I notice a tread of those who hate this young lady, don't or won't see the issue from her perspective. Maybe its because they want things done their way and only their way. Or maybe they are so closed minded that don't understand where she's coming from. Social media is probably the worst way to discuss a complex issue. Assumptions are made, projections are give, if you are white you are racist comments are made as with the all white people are responsible for the actions that happened in the past. With the attitude of "Only I can dictate reality", (which is all counterproductive in ending racism) has been proven in making things worse. More often than not, I think these people who are like what I mentioned, don't want racism to end. Maybe its about money and power. Who knows. If Critical Race Theory (CRT) is nothing but a history lesson, then where's the problem? Does CRT have talking points that lead to the idea of "White man bad" or "If your black, you will always be oppressed" Is CTR the only way to talk about America's history? Will CTR teach ALL of the facts or just a few that would make white children feel guilty and black children feel oppressed? Also what's the end goal of CRT? Is it end racism and have people get along or is it black supremacy where white people have to walk around feeling guilty. There are many other ways to teach the same history without the principles of CRT. Finally, what's the goal of teaching that history? Is it acknowledgment of bad things happening? Or is it to change the behavior/ ideology, where once again, develop a certain mentality that politically aligns with those who support CRT. I also have to address those who believe that if you are part of BLM or being black means that ONLY YOUR perspectives or your perception of reality matters. The military conducted itself in a similar manner in Iraq and Afghanistan. Guess what. That produced more insurgents. Which made both of those wars last longer. In the end, this conversation isn't about black vs white, as some would want it to be, but rather is CRT needed.

Blaming Hegel seems a bit misguided to me. Hegel is really not an enemy of objective truth and reason. Hegel believes in god, and objective morality, and that the german prussian state he lieves in has the best possible system of government; this is really not a postmodernist. There is a bit of historical relativism in Hegel but it is a quite reasonable amount. With Marx we start the slightly nonsensical bullshit of criticizing the notion of objective morality, while still pushing a very clear moral agenda. But with Marx we still have completely objective truth, and the system isn't overtly self-contradictory. I think only with the Frankfurt school and with Foucault does the real big mental gymnastics begin where you deny the existence of objective truth while constantly proclaiming one objective truth after the other. But I'm not an expert on the Frankfurt school of Foucault.

They even hate when I share people who are black who also have various opinions, because I'm "using them to justify my racism" lmao. We should have diversity of thought and free competition of ideas, because any idea that requires silencing others cannot withstand on its own and isn't a good idea afterall. I appreciate America's founding principles and capitalism (property rights) and the fact that many immigrants come here and succeed rapidly! I never denied the presence of racism, I just tried to say that this country is not inherently oppressive against any race but is as close to a meritocracy as any country had achieved, while improvements can still certainly be made! And I argue that racism should not be major enough to hold anyone back from achieving their best life, as you (and so many other individuals who have experienced racism but are free individuals protected by the Consititution) demonstrate. I'm a classical liberal afterall but today's progressive agenda is proving to be REgressive and authoritarian! I appreciate this all going down in my lifetime simply because I was clueless until this year. I researched so much and came across Thomas Sowell, a great mind who really points out the institutions and policies hurting America.

It took me a long time to realize that and to stop feeling like I was appropriating other cultures, because I appreciated and enjoyed them. I finally feel a great sense of freedom and certainty now that I’ve accepted that I should not feel responsible for my ancestors’ actions. Kimi, I hope you never feel discouraged to produce more of these videos. I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts on CRT. I LOVE that you've touched on moral relativism and the concept of absolute truth. People may not always be literate in philosophy or see the importance of studying philosophy when the reality is, everyone's worldview whether they are an atheist, Christian, freethinker, liberal, or conservative are shaped by their own philosophies. When we study philosophy we then can deconstruct our beliefs and see if it all makes sense. What is the foundation of our belief in injustice? Race? Equality? Anyway, I'm not black nor American, but this topic has always baffled me. A lot of my impressions on CRT chime with yours and it's nice to see that someone of African descent shares the same views. I look forward to more videos like this but no pressure!

Your are a very interesting woman. I myself have an absolute moral basis, "Do as you would have done to you" Pretty much gets rid of post modernism, Marxism, Nihilism, critical theory (what a crock), etc. I am not religious but the Judeo-Christian frame work followed by the enlightenment , with it's emphasis on individual sovereignty, and individual accountability works for me.

Great video - you speak so eloquently and express these ideas so well. I agree with all you've said, and I think that voicing these ideas is important in today's society. Scary when many people want to quash free speech and are tied to their beliefs like a religion. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for your viewpoints here. Also, thanks for posting your book list. I always appreciate when people are accountable for their sources. I think your most powerful argument here is that the abolitionists and civil rights activists didn't need CRT...

I resonated with both your videos on this on a whoooole other level! It was up to a certain point where I was questioning my own sense of morality if I didn't feel guilty over something I had no personal control over(since I don't apply a racist framework in my life anyway), especially as a mixed race white-latina! Until recently, I felt that my very existence was based on confusion, not knowing to which group I should identify with, where the answer is truly: none. Thank you for your insightful, respectful and intelligent analysis of this omnipresent ideaology! ❤️

I love hearing the perspective of people that are not native to America on these issues. “They“ in power will never hear you, but other people out there that may not listen to certain folks will sometimes listen to you. Plus the different angle that other people have is helpful to people like me to further solidify my thinking.

Thanks Kimi, this was great. I'm not American (from East Africa actually) but I've been seeing these crazy ideas being woven into young people's minds and it breaks my heart because we are just not as wise to research the ideas that are popular. Social media is a big problem as well!

No two people have the same type of life experiences. People are different and live to their own morals. To me the ten commandments are the best moral compass I live by.

People are different and live to their own morals? Nazi vs Jews? Stalinist Communists vs Ukrainian peasants? If everyone has their own moral code, then there is no moral code and anything and everything is moral....from mass murder of children to picnics for the homeless.

I'm talking people, not politics or religious groups, a majority of people follow good moral beliefs. Some groups believe that genocide is a good thing, but some individuals in that group may not agree. In nazi Germany Jews were killed, but individuals in the country helped Jews hide and escape.

I love the way you substitute “my truth” with “lived experience”. I cringe when I hear “my truth” because there can only be one truth. Just because you believe it doesn’t make it true.

Really well articulated, I am curious whether you learned about CRT formally, or through self study? you seem to really have a handle on it and that is not easy since it is so deliberately opaque. I'm going to scroll through your other videos to see if you addressed this already.
