@@olliemck60 CRT and "anti-racism" are making this world a better place...? In literally what way? Stoking the fires of division in a country that's already aggressively politicized? Teaching white children that they're privileged and should think about how their existence "oppresses" black people? Teaching black kids that nothing in life is their fault and they should never bother trying to succeed since the whole world is stacked against them? Elevating or silencing people's voices based on their arbitrarily perceived level of "oppression"? Enforcing hiring and enrollment policies that literally discriminate against certain groups in order to meet an arbitrary quota of "inclusion"? Encouraging white people to view minority hires with skepticism because they can literally get a job with minimal qualifications if the company has a skin color quota to meet? Encouraging mediocrity in minority groups by essentially telling them "don't try you poor baby, the world hates you, but also you can get into esteemed schools and careers if the company is woke enough"? Inciting self-doubt in hard-working minority employees and students who are more likely to be seen as unqualified by their skeptical white peers - and left wondering if that skepticism is valid, and they didn't earn their position but were given it because they were the right color? Encouraging the election of such fantastic and inspiring national leaders as Kamala Harris, whose literal only qualifications were "is wahmen" and "is not white"? @@drawingdragon CRT is responsible for the successful remediation of every case of implicit bias in the last 40 years; and will be the force that drives systemic racism out of our institutions. By the way, it is not taught in K-12. Anti-racism energizes people to not accept the perpetual compromises with racism that have been made in this country for over 400 years. And will drive explicit and implicit bias out of our culture. Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are not qualified. And Pollyanna refers to her love and forgiveness attitude that ignores repentance. And lastly, she is clueless about CRT, which she hypocritically claims to hate while claiming not to hate things.
@drawingdragon2 жыл бұрын
@@olliemck60 Just saying "CRT remedies racism" doesn't prove anything. Do you have any examples? Any racist laws or institutions that have been overturned within the last few years because of wackjobs like Ibrim Kendi? Or are you one of those people who like to pretend that stupid wars like canceling Aunt Jemima and removing the heritage and income of an entire black family tree is somehow "fixing" racism? By the way, when people say CRT is taught in K-12, we aren't referring to a curriculum called "CRT 101". If you think that, you haven't paid any attention whatsoever to your opposition. The concepts and tenets of CRT (and other branches of critical theory, such as critical gender theory) are pushed by teachers IN classes like history and economics. "Privilege walk" activities, "check your privilege" essays, banning school holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving because they're "too colonial", affirmative action practices that attempt to "remedy" past injustice by rejecting white and Asian students based on their race and the fact that the school has "too many", "blackout" days where white students aren't allowed to come to school (granted that one example was a college), and even fringe idiotic cases like a class "congratulating" two black students for - wait for it - being black, are all playing by the CRT rulebook. CRT isn't a curriculum, it's a path of logic that suggests every system in human history is unjust because every system in human history is made up of oppressors and oppressed. "It will drive implicit bias out of our culture." No it won't. Implicit bias by definition is implicit. You can no more drive "rude thoughts" out of humanity than you can "implicit bias". "Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are less qualified." Bruh. The only reason affirmative action exists the way it does now is because of "anti racist" policies. "Anti-racism" caused the problem, but give it enough time and it will fix it! And btw, yes, many affirmative action candidates are not qualified. That isn't a sting against them or their race, it's a heavy criticism of stupid policies that put skin color over qualification, and accidentally incite more racism along the way.

thankyou kimi! 💪❤️ the thing that really distresses me about "anti-racism" is that it is ACTUALLY creating racists. when you call anyone a racist, that is a deep assault on their character, especially if they are good people, and have been fighting against racism their whole lives. the way this theory is being applied globally, and without context, is going to foster toxic resentment, instead of unifying solidarity. ive already seen too many people turn conservative because they can't see through it. it is a terrible tactic and im so glad you're speaking out.

Good point. Except you say "turning conservative" like it is a bad thing. Maybe their eyes are opened to the racism of the left.

@@jpeytonlewis sorry mate, i dont mean to demonize political sides - i meant it more in a philosophical context - ie becoming more defensive and tribalistic, because wokeness is trying to destroy their liberalism. wokeness DOESN'T represent the left, that's the problem. i thoroughly reject their theories and approach. if people choose political sides, it should be for the right reasons at least, and not because one side is being misrepresented by a rogue faction. im australian and i vote for a minority party - our system is quite different.

It’s not just being called racist, it’s people actually being racist and nasty towards you. Also violence which has gone up by a very large percent towards white and Asian, and it’s mostly not talked about in the media and basically tolerated. And the racism literally being taught in schools and large companies “critical race theory”. Very threatening! And no-it’s not revenge- if you aren’t racist. Because every race is history and culture has done good/bad. And the whole point of not being racist is seeing people as an individual, not as a soldier in an army of a “race”.

I found this today in an old writing of mine, when I dealt with malice in my life: "As appropriate as anger can be as a reaction to a provocation or something, chronic anger is what keeps all that poison active. It is bad for your soul, and hard to break free from." And as for your speech: LOVE it.

Preach, Kimi. You are calling on people to do hard things. It's easier to wallow in guilt and self-flagellate, or hold on to anger and resentment, than it is to look into the eyes of people you may have hurt and apologize, or to forgive and move forward. I really hope we're moving toward a place in US society where we get more comfortable with looking each other in the eyes and having hard convos, instead of just yelling and sub-tweeting across screens. Your message is beautiful and urgent. We cannot fight hatred with hatred. Hatred is not a goal. Those who would encourage hatred have an ulterior motive and are using hatred as a tool to divide us and in the process dismantle the current culture. Forgiveness is the only way to heal and move forward. I do believe most people in this world are good and want to reconcile. I do believe people love to meet and get to know people from other backgrounds. I am weary of the hatred as I think many are. Your message of forgiveness is refreshing and replenishing and makes me feel hopeful that perhaps forgiveness is the way out of all this.

I have said much the same thing. Even to some of my black friends. I am Norse and Cherokee. My adopted Grandmother was Blackfoot and Sioux and my Grandfather (Her husband) was mostly Norse. My other Grandparents are of course an interesting mix of those things as well. My Grandfather was career military. One of my Grandfather's best friends was Jamaican. I haver friends from all over the world. Scripturally I was taught several principles that involved "Treat others as you want to be treated." "An answer when mild, turns away rage." "Set things right amongst you" "If on your way to offer your sacrifice you remember your brother has something against you, leave your offering there and first go set things right between you and him." If you see your brother, whom you hate, who's cart is broken down on the side of the way and his oxen has escaped, you MUST go and help your brother. "You must love your neighbor as yourself." "For Truly I perceive that God is not partial, for the man in every nation who fears him and gives him glory is acceptable to him." But people these days don't feel that way, they don't think in the same way we once did. The world seems to have gone mad and went backwards. I was taught to appreciate other cultures, connect with people over their food. Share something and build upon it. Look for what is on the inside. "Don't judge a book by it's cover." It "God see's what's in the heart, and you must try to do that too. Remember someone can be beautiful on the inside and not on the outside, or vice versa. Look for the secret person of the heart..." Etc... I have learned to make some of my favorite foods from Loation Chef's and friends of mine's Italian Grandmothers. Cooking, invention, and the like is in my Southern Soul... Never have I thought that I should judge someone these ways. So you can imagine how confused I am in this current world and age. Everything seems to be going backwards. Communism seems to be holding sway and I am politically neutral, yet I am persecuted as well for just who i am. I think things would get much better if we remembered some of those things in the first paragraph and actually applied them in our lives. It boggles my mind with how much has changed.

Wow Kimi! I just discovered you today (thanks algorithm!) and i'm in total A W E !!! I'm floored by your strong integrity and incredible eloquence. You're such a powerful force and what I probably badly needed to hear! There has always been something that wasn't sitting right on me in this long conversations about race that have exploded in the last year. I also had a hard time associating the good values of antiracism with the hatred, division and poison that I've constantly seen online under the guise of it. Much of the predicaments were against basic values, but every time I happened to confront some of the assumptions I found myself against a wall of homogenous thougths. Sometimes you end up doubting yourself, you wonder if there must be something wrong with you if you have so much difficulty assimilating to the mainstream. That's the power of peer pressure, I guess. And you know, there's also guilt associated to that (I'm white LOL), so you really start to doubt of yourself. Is so easy to be labelled as "racist" today, according to Kendi, you just have to disagree with his philosophy to be called that. Which is stupid, but also a powerful weapon of manipulation. Well, your videos are such a breath of fresh air, finally! Such a light in this claustrophobic atmosphere. I think discussions like yours are especially precious to elevate the possibilities for change and involve people in the same mission towards progress and liberation. Because, you know, I care about people and I can only hope and work towards a better world for everyone and I firmly believe that learning and teaching respect is the right way in that direction. Thanks so much for speaking out! You have a big fan!

As a white person who grew up in the black community in a white country I know what it feels to be both a majority and a minority and I've been on the receiving end of racism from a community I chose to be a part of because I loved them and their culture. These last ten yrs on social media have tipped me and I'm starting to bite back and I know hate cant drive out hate and have been telling myself this but I'm angry and hurt and I needed to hear you reminding me hate cant drive out hate. You're right that their hate will make people white supremacist. I'm part of the black community so the extent of my hatred will just be light mocking or goading but nothing actually racist. When I get accused of being a thief or being a colonizer I flip between trying to reason with them and appeal to their humanity to just agreeing and say "yeah,and what" because trying to appeal to their reasoning an empathy doesnt work and I'm tired or their hate, just pure hate. It literally brings me to tears and I've wanted to be black when I was younger for a period of time, not a one-off passing thought, and again a few years back just so I didnt have to feel this way in my own community so this isnt a non-issue when its causing real emotion and psychological, long-term insecurities and issues in people. But I'm concerned being in white majority countries how those who arent from the black community how they'll react to being treated this way. We welcomed non-whites aside from some racists they're accepted and we adopted and embraced their culture. But for those who reject us who love them or those who dont love them all that can come of this is race wars. I'm seeing even my white friends putting themselves down online and talking about "whiteness" which isnt even a thing and saying whites cant experience racism which isnt true individually or systemically. These anti-racists are destroying us even those of us who arent racist are snapping out of pain and impaitence. My solution is to remove social media as it's the cause of all this tbh. Blessings for making this video and I'll try harder to not prove these people right. xx

To forgive the mistakes of others is, in my opinion, part of being an adult. Maturity is not just the age by which the laws of the land view an individual as an adult, it is a mindset. "These things, which i don't want to do, must be done so I, and those I love, may live another day and so I will do them, no matter the cost to myself" is my take on what it means to be an adult. To forgive another's mistakes is to forgo the right to vengeance. Too many people seem to want to cling to their anger and hate, to lash out. It seems to me that far to many people use the idea of victimhood as an excuse to not be held accountable for their own actions, or their own inaction. "X bad thing happened to me, thus I am not responsible for my actions here"

This is so refreshing! I’m white and I always treated others how I would like to be treated. I’m all about love and respect! I can’t stand injustice so whenever I see it I step in. I thought that that was enough but lately I’ve been feeling very paralyzed by all the antiracism concept... I don’t know how it is in the USA but in Brazil I’ve been having so many doubts about it cause I wonder if I stopped in time and I’m no long evolving along society or if society really is taking another path to sickness... it’s almost like we need to have all the answers to be a decent human, there’s no room to learn and black people are “not our teachers”, meaning they don’t have to teach us anything and it’s our responsibility to learn and I understand that but it feels like there’s no room for conversation anymore it’s almost disrespectful to talk about it with the black people around you... So I’m very frustrated cause I don’t have all the answers and I don’t know how to change everything that is wrong and it’s almost like I need to understand everything about the structure that builds racism to be someone who cares, to be a good human and an ally... and don’t get me wrong I’m well aware of it’s structure I just don’t know all the implications it has and I don’t even know if it’s possible to know that... anyways I feel like there’s no space for me because I’ll never understand and I’ll be forever ignorant so it’s never enough... and I wanna be an ally, I wanna be a good human but I don’t know what that means anymore and I can’t really talk about it 😕

Yours is a take on the this subject I have never heard before, and it's really important. Essentially, you offer a Christian apologia. It's strange that CRT has not been subjected to more Christian analysis because the vast majority of black folk - in America, Africa and the diaspora - are VERY religious, and most of them are Christian. The philosophical contradictions between CRT - which is, essentially, a Marxist materialist theory - and Christian values, which are essentially Idealist, strike me as difficult to resolve. Not enough people are talking about the gap between CRT's materialism and the values of the people it purports to stand in defense of, who are mostly fundamentally opposed to its very essence.
