The traditional Korean musical instruments Gayageum and Ajang were used to provide out of the ordinary sounds in this performance. (It could have sounded Chinese.) Her fabulous descending runs, which begins at 3:57 is the most beautiful part in this performance, IMO. A nice high note for the finale, which lasted for as long as 11 seconds from 5:25 harmonized with the accompaniment of traditional instruments and showed heavenly sounds. Such an exotic and richly harmonized performance! She won the series of competition, I am a Singer (season 2) for the first time with that song and got a title, 'the Singer of August'.

Hi Paul, I believe this song is about being separated by death from her husband who had been given to her to help with all the hardships of life. That is why so many people were crying. No one can wring emotional content out of a song like So Hyang!

With Kim, So Hyang you do Not need sub-titles, the way she sings You feel the words, no time to read anyways, Her Emotions and Facial Expressions are all you need...Great Reaction...We all Love Kim, So Hyang This was among some of the First Times she had sung on TV, other than the "Masked Singer" so most of the artist there you seen staring had never seen preform, and I Love Korean Audiences They Respect their Artist, and Sit down and Listen and take in the Music, not like western world screaming and yelling during and before. If You Notice Kim, So Hyang does not start to sing till audience stop clapping.....The Love between Artist and audience is Great ...never happen in western world :-( One side note Her Husband picked ALL the songs for this show She Did All the Arrangements, But They work as a Team, He even helps her pick out the outfits, He does so much behind the scenes....to support Her
