In the process of refining and perfecting the S1000RR, BMW got rid of a lot of the edges and things that individualize motorcycles and make them special. I’ve once heard of an S1000RR described as the “finest slice of white bread you can buy”. There’s a lot of truth to that.

I have the BT flash for my 2020 R1 and they improved the QS and AB, not to mention it pulls hard all the way to redline. Part throttle is buttery smooth now too. Definitely a different bike now.

@@badass1g I’m sorry, no dyno numbers, but it is night and day. Midrange is insane. It seems the tune came with helium for the front tire because it’s hard to keep it down. Getting rid of the throttle plate restrictions was huge. It now pulls hard to redline when before it signed off a little after 11k

The S1000 is characteristically German, which means precise, sharp, refined, and perfected. The R1 may not be the same way. At least not to the same extent. But that's what makes it cooler. It gives the bike soul/character which the S1000 lacks. The sound of the R1 is pretty special too compared to other liter bikes.

Quick R1 story, not had a Kawasaki,since 92,3rd GT550,SUPERB BIKE, only ever wanted Kawasakis, 15,saw a bike 30 yards away,big back tyre low seat,straight bars, wee nose fairing,BIG,BIG ENGINE, it was a 57 R1, lovely, before I heard 0-60mph, 2.5 seconds,triple LOVELY. March 19 ,got a 05 fuel inj.650 Bandit, one very careful owner, who basically ran it in for 15,000 miles, BEST BIKE EVER,and I'm not even lying.

I thought i would let you guy's know about the huge vehicle taxes we've got here in Denmark. The price for a brand new Yamaha R1 2021 is, 46.117 dollars. And a brand new R1M costs, 59.906 Dollars. Thats why you don't see so many Danes on new bikes. We have the same taxes on Cars.

Don't start on a liter bike. If a 300 is out of the question for you get either a late model ninja zx6r or gixxer 600. They have gear indicators, slipper clutches and decent ergonomics. The R6 has a snatchy throttle, high ass seat If ur short and leans you over alot. The new ones have gear indicators but you don't wanna spend a bag on ur first bike.

I don't own or ride a sportbike, but that thing sounds mean! I do ride however, I ride its bigger brother, a Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe "chrome couch". It also has a V4 instead of the typical V-twin like most big cruisers. I switched out my exhaust with Sharkroad Megaphones and she sounds mean and loud too.

I’m currently ride 2014 Kawasaki Zx6r and want to upgrade to litter bike. Out of S1k and R1, which one do you think is more comfortable and similar sit position to the Zx6r? I had 09 R6 and I honestly hate it. I couldn’t even ride the R6 more than an hr but I could ride the Zx6r for 5-6hrs. R1 is relatively more affordable than S1k, that’s big plus.
