I knew he was a good coach when I seen that byu vs kansas game last year where he was down by 12 and came back and won by 8. With alot less talent than he has this year. Kentucky has a young coach gem.

I think pope holds Holds Lamont out vs Colgate, gets him ready for Louisville sat. He might see 8-10 min vs Colgate. But I think best idea just let him sit, vs Colgate. But being he was very close to a go vs gonzaga. But having Jaxon at point , worked pretty good sat night.

As bad as it was to have butler out for the zaga game and krissa getting hurt, I’m not sure we would have seen Robinson at the point and realized if foul trouble or god forbid injuries happen agin he can slide over and run the point pretty well. He is the kind of guy that needs the ball in his hands more unlike brea who is a great spot up shooter but can’t creat his own shot.

They “get it” because they have all played 4+ years of college basketball. As a 47 year old it really reminds me of the 98 team full of seniors that refuse to give up. They know the game so well that they make adjustments before coach pope even has to tell them to. Their basketball IQ’s bring a huge advantage over young teams. I truly believe this team can go as far as anyone this season.

@@zipzapzoom111well with cal that would have meant he was out for the season but I think pope is alittle more transparent and also hopeful that the time table is shorter rather than longer.
@danielgalaxy5540Ай бұрын
The answer is simple. Kentucky replaced its washed up Head Coach with an overlooked Head Coach. You can see the passion with Pope and the exact opposite with Calipari. The coaching staff, since Roblic was fired was absolutely absent leaving Calipari to do everything on his own. Pope has an absolutely amazing staff and I tend to feel like Pope won’t have to replace many staff members in his tenure. Only staff that will leave will become head coaches. Nobody will leave their spot for the same at any other team.

Coach pope and these boys play a style of basketball that’s a combination of 90’s and mark popes personal style. Its a fast paced high energy style that literally lives and dies by the success of their outside shooting.
@johnnystivers6788Ай бұрын
I love this team and I think we will shoot better but with Kerr out only Kobe and Ansley shot 40 percent last season. I know Lamont and Otega can shoot better than there numbers last season but they have to spot up to be effective shooters Jaxson won’t have a high percentage because he shoots so many but we need him to have more games going 4-9 and less 1-5 or 2-8. Care needs more open 3s and we have to get more open looks for Kobe and I know this is a free flowing offense but Kobe needs 2-5 open looks I mesh last couple games he’s only getting contested shots or maybe a good look on an offensive rebound. It’s great to see we can win if we’re not shooting well but it can’t last
@cordercorder8785Ай бұрын
Of course it can last. A team that is not reliant only on the three ball is a good thing not a bad thing. Having to rely so much on threes will get you knocked out early in the tourney. Having a team that can do both not only is hard to guard and plan for but extremely difficult to beat come tourney time. Just look at how guys shoot in those bigger arenas when the sight lines are a lot different than almost every other arena they play in all year.
@johnnystivers6788Ай бұрын
@ yeah the shooting and spacing is how we get favorable matchups one on one’s like you need teams scared of the 3 ball even if there not shooting well. If the team isn’t shooting well you almost have to play Carr at the 5 because Amari isn’t a post scoring big really Carr is the only one who can break a defender down in the post and get a bucket I mean the offense is revolved around Amari running the offense from the top of the key and the shooting is the reason Zoom action works so well. I’m not saying we can’t win games when shooting 28 percent from deep but it’s not going to happen a lot like this team was built for shooting the shooting is what’s making Otega and Butler so effective at driving the ball it’s just Pope got these guys to each play their part and they have to do good at their jobs to make this team reach their ceiling, I think the shooting will get back to normal and I think we make 10 or more 3s more often than not and we deserved to win against Gonzaga but there best teams in the country aren’t going 6-27 from 3 especially on all the open looks. Yes it’s great that we can win in a bunch of ways but shooting is the identity of this team that’s why Pope wants them shooting 35 of them a game

It would be great to give Perry 30 minutes to play through his freshman inexperience before more serious challenges might require him.
@cordercorder8785Ай бұрын
As great as that would be he isn’t ready on defense. He is a big liability right now and until his offense can out match his defensive liabilities this just isn’t going to be his year.

When you got a 30 point lead put him in. Couldn't believe he didn't get time with 30-40 point leads and then expect him to shine against Gonzaga
