When you're flying in someone's wake, in skydiving I know to stay on level or below someone's canopy, but in paramotoring what are you thinking about to prevent collapse?

How do you get the behind the head shots? I'd guess attaching to the hoop would be influenced by vibration and be subject to line snags. Maybe a selfy stick jammed in your harness somehow? The shots look great though!
@MitchG3 жыл бұрын
Gopro on the hoop. Need a smooth balanced prop. Not an E prop
@ryan.hanthorn3 жыл бұрын
@@MitchG Assumed there would always be a little vibration influence. Considered doing this myself or even setting up the local instructor with a wireless samara and FPV goggles used in drones to give him a direct view from behind a student. I may have to experiment with mounting on my own hoop, maybe 3D print something with a TPU interface to adsorb some vibration. Anyhow, kind of loved the video, never flown in the desert myself but will have to put it on my bucket list.

@@MitchG - lol, your helmet reminds me of a TIE Fighter pilot. There were some moments in your vid where you were racing past a motorbike on the ground. Can you really go faster than a motorbike in your PPG? I thought they only go 30mph max.

Hi Mitch, This is one of your best posts. The filming was great and I thought the music was a great choice, aspecialy near the end when you were lined up with that long bit of sandy road with the setting sun at the far end of it and the lyrics synkt with image perfectly while singing, " This is what I live for!" Well done if you deliberately edited that way. :) While I'm here, i'v been meaning to ask you about your use of your Speed Bar while you negotiate all of those nifty manoeuvres. In all the vids i'v seen about Speed Bar use, they always point out that if you're using it, you mustn't use your steering as it is to Dangerous and is very likely to cause an accident, such as a Catastrophic low altitude Collapse. Are they all just being a bit over zealous? Would like to hear your feedback on the issue. Thanks,. DON P.S. What was that Great music? Anyone?
@MitchG3 жыл бұрын
If you are on bar, you can only use the tip steering. In steep turns I release the bar and then use main brakes. Once I begin to level off, I'm back on the bar. Main brakes at full speed can cause collapse so you must not make that mistake at low altitude. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mny7gquta7lkoc0

Good pics, sound track a bit repetitive, overall I enjoyed it. One criticism, I’m a bit of a tech nut, I like to know: the motor, the prop, the frame, the harness, the canopy/wing and size.
saw those vids of the wing collapsing, yikes! still thinking about it, has to be pretty safe if you wait for calm sunset conditions.

I'm looking at this sport pretty seriously. What is up with your chute controls? It appears you have a control that allows you to gain more lift while turning? Is that what's happening? Or is it just from adding throttle in turns?

Hi Mitch. I'm curious about your helmet. How happy are you using it? Is it good for paramotor (PPG) and/or paragliding (free flight)? What are pros and cons. Would you recommend it for long flights? What's visibility, weight, comfort etc.? I mostly fly cross country paragliders. I'm also getting into PPG.
@MitchG3 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's not ideal because there are to many snag points to grab lines and the built in comm system doesn't work with hand held radios available on the market. The things I love about it are the dual visor so I can switch to clear visor after sunset and the ear protection is excellent. I would never use it for pg flying, only ppg. There are cheaper helmets that accomplish the same things.

Hi Mitch, epic vid as always! Question about the Universal1.1... do you find the ALC+ lines slower to intiate turns than the TEA lines (that connect to stabilio)? Dudek manual says use either with trims open. TEA/stabilio lines feel way faster, "power assisted" and more precise to me
