Don’t push yourself bro, things take time. You don’t have airbags, pools, tramps at your disposal daily, this is why it’s more injury prone so listen to your body and take it 1 step at a time

I have an incredible amount of respect to you. I love this insight you brought through this video. I currently took a pretty gnarly fall yesterday and am now probably not going up for at least 2 weeks due to a knee injury. This stuff is real, and I appreciate you bringing up this topic/issue

Take some time to heal dude, this is just the start of your journey. Life's a marathon... I made a ski vid to Mac Miller's Nikes on my Feet, party inspired by watching your vids. That day of skiing I caught an edge, tomohawked and twisted my leg. Been off skiing for a bit over 2 weeks now. Happy with my progress for my first season on skis but I feel like this injury kinda humbled me. Looking forward to seeing u come back. I think you've gained some loyal fans who'll weather the storm with you

Great video! I was stuck in a very similar cycle with overuse injuries between running and ski touring. Just when I thought one injury was healed, I would go way too hard out of the gate on my first day back and get another overuse injury. Listening to the body is so hard but it builds an amazing virtue that is not very common in our modern society, patience. Hope you feel better soon and love the transparency!
@Clinttoz10 ай бұрын
It’s a vicious cycle, and the constant stream of others content online can feel daunting. I for sure have rushed back into things just feeling the weight of others accomplishing so much while I’m laying in bed or at PT. Glad someone else has felt this

I’m a freerider/freeskier on my first sponsor this season. I really feel what you said, especially relating views. My opinion differs tho when it comes to injuries… I’ve had the pleasure talking to a lot of professionals in freeride and freestyle. All of them train like crazy in summer and therefore barely have to push outside their comfort zone in winter. That’s the part u don’t see! That’s what makes it seem easy and supernatural. U don’t see all the work that goes into the mind wobbling tricks. They don’t go out there and just send…they have mastered knowing their limits and emotions. They have professional support…It’s a full time job, not gambling with injuries. If u get hurt u might never ski again! Send responsibly!
@Clinttoz10 ай бұрын
First of all, congrats on the sponsorship!! That is so sick dude. By that logic NFL football players would never get hurt because they train all year, F1 drivers would never crash their cars because they run simulations for hours everyday. I think training is important and can mitigate injury in skiing. if I had the financials that some of the pros do I would totally be doing some of these better training methods that they are, but I don’t think it drops chance of injury to 0%. Shit happens when you are in a sport like skiing, and that is exactly what this video is about. Injuries in other sports are talked about and highlighted but in skiing pros seem to give off an image of invincibility by never talking about injuries.

True. Also, the mental impact of these injuries is insane as well. Even if you are worth (relatively) much in the industry, even if you've got your own sponsors, contracts etc.; one injury and you're basically f.ckd for months. You feel like all the progress you have made has suddenly been erased. You have to start all over again every time and it is incredibly depressing.

and I’m not saying anyone is required to post about it! I just think when only 1% of pros give us insight into their injuries it gives of the aura that pros are different than us and never get hurt

the reason the best of the best skiers dont get hurt as often is because they are better skiers. your pushing so hard for something that takes so much time to get to. enjoy the ride. not the destination. i think you will get hurt less if you take that in mind
@Clinttoz9 ай бұрын
Interesting take, this must be your first video on my channel :) the whole reason I started my yt was to document my progress (I normally use the word journey) and I think progress includes making mistakes. To say that pros were never at the level that I currently am, and that they never make mistakes or get injured I feel only furthers this “invincibility” narrative that this video is trying to break down.
