Some reel that‘s for sure, even the big boys with the 100k‘s would give a nod. And yes, this autumn is by far his best chance since 2016 to play some proper big games for Ireland seen as he‘s jumped from 5th/6th to 3rd choice centre within just a matter of days..

Improved his game massively, went from being just a crash ball 12 to someone who can slot in as first receiver, act as a distributor, offload, kick and can shut down attacks in defense, with Aki’s ill discipline, I don’t see why McCloskey isn’t in the Ireland squad over him

@@DrSoprano Enough of your pseudo-punditry, I don't think you know what you are talking about and you have probably just seen a few highlights of him bouncing people because he is an effective ball carrier. Ospreys first game of the season 2015 - watch the first 10 minutes. Couple of decent carries, a great pass out wide and kicks a penalty too. He does miss an easy conversion..... but not exactly a "crash ball 12". You wouldn't have seen Kevin Maggs doing any of this. I don't think you watch much of Ulster. @@chrisdawson955 mate I’ve been watching Ulster since before McCloskeys Ireland debut in 2014, making a pass out wide to set up a try is basic midfield distribution, if they need to make a pass they’ll do it, but he’s a much more complete player now

I must agree - he has never been just a crash ball 12. This is very much an over exaggerated, easy tag to give a player who is immense at the gainline.

Think McCloskey is in the form of his career. Really feel like he's got the full package for an international. The only thing that possibly sets aki and henshaw is big hits/dominant tackles. However, having watched McCloskey closely since his break out season in 2015 he really a joy to watch.

Have to say he looks mighty impressive on attack; how's his defence? Henshaw and Ringrose have proved their worth in terms of game intelligence; difficult to break into the squad on the basis of that

Ireland spoiled for choice when it comes to number 12, but i feel McCloskey adds alot more creativity in attack than Henshaw or Aki, just at the cost of a really dominant tackle, a good option player.

At the moment, Henshaw-Ringrose is a better combination than McCloskey-Henshaw in my opinion. Can see him getting caps at #23 this autumn as there is no doubt about his class. If he takes that opportunity well then I'd be happy to change my mind. The only way I can see him starting the first test this autumn is if Keenan isn't fit and Hansen goes fb with Ringrose getting the 14 shirt. Actually, that sounds pretty tasty

@@PocketRugby he devalues it massively in defence, where he is basically playing a different sport to Henshaw. His kicking game is also non-existent compared with Henshaw's. For all the chat from Ulster fans the gap between him and Henshaw and Ringrose was really highlighted in the game in Belfast where McCloskey was anonymous

@@paddyirishman1607 he does not have international grade athleticism, his footwork is sloppy, he would be danced around by the likes of Marcus Smith, Ntamack or Beauden Barrett. He is a good provincial player, no doubt, but that is where the buck stops imo.
