I wouldn't call the Sabres a "bad" team. They are a "young" team with a ton of talented players. If they can finally get some goaltending and some skilled veterans in the mix, look out! I'd go as far to say they will make the playoffs THIS SEASON! Barely, but I think they get it done. They are coming together quickly. Their young 1st round picks are all starting to get it going now. Turns out Jack Quinn was the best pick of that round draft when everyone was shaking their heads at the Sabres taking him 8th overall. Don't sleep on the Sabres. They are for real and can beat anyone!

They are the Detroit Lions of the NHL. Not quite a good team yet but no longer the pushovers they used to be. They can score but in terms of defense and goaltending it isn’t there yet. I think the Sabres are a top 4 RHD and a starting goalie away from being a playoff team. From what I’ve heard Samuelson has been playing with Dahlin but I think they need to find someone who can mesh with Power. As a Devils fan I say they need to find their version of John Marino and Vitek Vanacek.

I agree that they’re not a “bad” team, they’re just a really young team. If they can grab a good veteran that can help lead the team they’re gunna be a force to be reckoned with next year. I think they get criticized a little harder than they deserve right now because of all the Eichel drama still being in peoples minds.

I'd agree if the Sabres weren't in the Atlantic. Tough division, I don't see them making it this year, but they're an exciting team and in any other division I think it would happen.

Despite our record I don't agree with your comment that the Sabres are a crappy hockey team. We currently have the highest scoring offense but we have to learn how to play team defense. Once we learn that the Sabres will be a powerhouse. If that happens this season we will make the playoffs. I'm not worried either way. We are in good hands now in Buffalo. Skinner, Tuch, Cozens, Peterka and Quinn are also putting the puck in the net. Thompson > Eichel.

I think, if you figure out the d and goalies then Buffalo will rise up the standings. Of course, that's the toughest part.

I've been watching him. He has the softest hands and a pin point accurate and hard shot. He skates incredibly fluidly and is always going to the right spots on the ice. He also draws a lot of attention now, which is opening up scoring opportunities for other players. I'd go as far to say that Thompson is a top 3 player in the league RIGHT NOW. He's only 25 years old and continues to get better and better, which is scary. Turns out Buffalo got an absolute STEAL in that O'Riley deal with the Blues. The young Sabres are now LOADED with talent and with Thompson QBing the top line for years to come, it's only a matter of time until this team is dominating the NHL. Yes, I said dominating!

As a Sabres fan it’s unreal how quickly he has developed and jumped to an elite level player. It truly feels like our team is finally on the right track. Our organization finally seems to be doing the right things. Our young core is showing a lot of potential. Goaltending is the thing I’m most concerned about. With Comrie still week to week, UPL has stepped in and has struggled. He hasn’t stepped up like we hoped he would and I feel that our goaltending may ruin this season.
@buffalowinter61

Mr. Thompson and the Sabres are a high-scoring team, and goaltending is essential, we are patiently awaiting the arrival of Mr. Levi and if they beat Pittsburgh tonight at home in the first of a home-and-home series Friday and Saturday nights, Buffalo is at 500% which highlights how well they are playing considering they endured an eight-game winless stretch. I will make the supposition Mr. Thompson is going to be on everyone's radar eventually and he will remain a top-five scorer to the end of the regular season, imho. Thanks for posting.

It's easy to say The Sabres are a "crappy team" if you don't watch their games, or haven't looked at the stats. And I wouldn't blame anyone for doing so, we've been bad for 11 years straight. However, they are 1st in goals scored so far this season, and have 5 players over a point per game pace as the youngest roster in the league. The offense is elite. The problem lies with goaltending, D pair 3, and Line 3. Also the D injuries caused that losing streak to extend to 8 games. When Samuelsson is on the ice we're 9-3-1, when he was hurt we went 3-10. we also didn't have Jokiharju for a long time.

Electric on 2 lines... We have a solid 4th line but out third line is non existent. Our PK is goddamn abysmal. Our goaltending is satisfactory enough on most nights but nothing Steller. Our defensive zone coverage is just as bad as the blue jackets. Assignments missed and plenty of puck watching.

The crazy thing is he thinks the game like a player who isn’t as big as him. His father brought up the fact that he grew 6 inches the summer between his freshman and sophomore year in college. He had to relearn the timing of the game at his larger frame. The thing about his game that stands out most is that he stays in motion, meaning he has pace when receiving the puck in the offensive zone. This allows him to use the wingspan to its fullest potential.

Tage put in lots of work in the off season to be this good but training with one of the best players in the world had to of play a part in this imo, he definitely picked up a few things from Mats plus it's got to be a huge confidence boost having a guy like AM believe in you and sort of be a mentor. Regardless tage put in the work and deserves this hope he keeps this level of play up

Crappy Sabres team? They're only a game below .500, which is nowhere near "crappy." I appreciated this video up until that point. The Sabres are the youngest team in the entire league, which includes their 41-yar old goalie. Take him away and the team is even younger. Also, everybody is talking about Thompson (and rightfully so), but nobody seems to be talking about how Skinner has turned into an assist machine and an incredible playmaker, as well as the fact that Tuch is quietly on pace for 41 goals. Dahlin also on pace for 101 points as a defensman.
@hockeypsychology
@hockeypsychology Жыл бұрын
I think they have some really solid pieces… and they’ve played some decent stretches of hockey… but they’ve also played some bad stretches as well. That 8 game losing streak was tough after a hot start. Dahlin,tuch, and skinner have all had great starts. But I think it gets to a point where you’d like to see team success along with it. That being said, I hope they go on a run here and are playing meaningful hockey in March. Would love to see that building rocking again

have Sabres been a crappy team? i have watched all of their games but one, they had that losing streak that looked bad on paper, but it didnt really have much too it. injures and close games that could have gone either way against good opponents. other than that, they have played as an average .600 team. their defense has been banged up which have cost them a few games. if they get healthy, maybe they can challenge for a wildcard spot who knows..
