I don’t play ultimate much anymore, but figured I’d hope on and try this. After about three and a half hours of practice I’ve gotten it consistently. I haven’t done it online because I’m not about to disrespect someone like that, but against a level 9 com it’s pretty easy to pull off and I can 85% of the time punish with a combo racking up 40% or even just straight up taking the stock without the com being able to retaliate.

​@@xandit also, it isn't like a really obvious glitch to detect, I mean, I don't remember what exactly the setup was but I remember that it could be done mid match with no problem and the only proof is a little grey block and the lack of launch and hitsun, so it would have been a logistic nightmare to check Steve matches only to see if it was used in any moment or even see if it really happened in case of accusations.

The point is mods for Ultimate already exist, so saying "no" makes no sense. All I'm saying is to make a conservative mod which only makes small balance changes so as to not garner as much attention. It would probably get struck down eventually by Nintendo (as usual) but not before it gets downloaded by many players. The same thing happened with Project M. I'm not even big on mods but it seems like it would be the only way to better balance the game at this point.

@@kik0le Project M is a bit of anomaly though, mostly connected to just how divisive Brawl as a whole was. P:M was itself the spiritual successor to Brawl Plus, one of the "Big 3 Mods" taking different approaches to the game due to the poor reception the title had in Competitive singles, alongside the other two Brawl Minus and Balanced Brawl. P:M was just the extra step built from that establishment, and while it was a success in the end it led to Brawl itself being a borderline skeleton that most only cared about because of Subspace Emmisary, and having to experiment with gimmicky rules to have relevance like Single Stock matches in it's twilight years. In comparison with the exception of the poor online, the majority actually enjoy Ultimate for what it is warts n' all. Needing an overhaul to the game's DNA just to keep a single character in an 88 roster title legal is more work than is necessary from just banning him at the end of the day. the fact he's even the only mechanically broken character in such an immense roster is a blessing really when you think about it. Now as for the uestion for modding in a balance patch...well, let's look at Melee. they do have a community mod, but it's mostly one that adds QoL adjustments to Single Player like Smash Stick usage and greatly expanding options in Training Mode, but leaves the core game untouched despite having the option to upgrade it to the most current version of Melee which was 1.06 from the PAL release. I think it's a similar mindset to why most arent exactly rushing for some community patch for Ultimate anytime soon.

Even if the tech isn’t viable, HBox sadly won’t realize that and will not lift his ban. The reason isn’t even the character. The whole ban is just a marketing ploy to promote Hungrybox’s brand. He’s feeding off of the anger and fear smash fans have for Steve by portraying himself as this hero of change. Even if he has good intentions to save the meta on the surface, he still selfishly wants attention and internet brownie points.

Still think he shouldn't be banned. People haven't even really played with it or faced it yet. They banned Steve before there was even a chance to see how good it actually is. The fact that the smash community was so much more lax about legitimate threats like smash 4 bayo and brawl meta knight but isn't willing to even give Steve a chance is indicative of the smash community's bias. If you're gonna start banning things just because you don't like them and you don't want to deal with them, then stop trying to claim your competitively objective.

Problem with Brawl Meta Knight is that the community was much smaller, and most of the best players mained him, and would not attend if he was banned, while Bayo's release was basically at the end of Sm4sh's lifespan; however, Ultimate is still going pretty damn strong and Steve has a tech that makes it so HE CAN'T DIE AT 999% FROM A MULTI-HIT F-SMASH AND ISN'T THAT HARD TO PULL OFF

Imo People just learned from the past both bayo and MK were left too long. If there was a viable way to check for if PMLG was used in matches I’d agree but it would be a logistical nightmare. By now there’s been enough messing around that we know the tech is not very hard to learn, or use consistently. Acola did say he wouldn’t use it but even if top level play doesn’t, high, mid and low level play could be decimated which was what bayo and MK both did. Imo Steve wasn’t ban worthy, He was on the line, and this tech just pushed him over it.

What if this didn't work consistently either? So instead you should show someone doing this 5 times in a row so you can say this is different from a character randomly falling out of clouds smash attack, this is completely controllable and repeatable.
