I'm a 60 year old Australian, white, 5'7" but loved playing basketball. There was very little vision of NBA basketball here when I was young but when it became available I watched any game I could. I marveled at so many of the players, new DrJ, Bird, Kareem, Magic and Jordan but from the moment I saw Drexler play I loved him. Such a graceful player. Those dunks were fluid and ferocious but at the same time very stylish. Too bad he wasn't able to win with the Blazers but the '95 championship with The Dream and the Rockets was one for the ages. An extremely well earned one, just like the '11 one with the Mavs which got a ring for so many legends. Drexler has always been one of my favourites. A tall guard who can do it all! Look behind his scoring, how he could rebound well for his position and rack up assists aswell when needed. A criminally underrated legend. I'm currently rocking with his dark matter card in 2K and have been having so much fun with it. So nice to see him having all his real life animations, jumper and dunk packages! Always such a nice feeling when posterizes someone with that signature 'Superman dunk' of his. My current starting 5 is The Glide, The Glove, The Worm, The Doctor and The Greatest German to ever play bball(=Dirk).

He was a slick passer too. He could lead a break dribbling at full speed, head down like he's watching the ball. But he's seeing the court and at precisely the right moment and spot, he'd pick up the dribble and fire a pass that Jerome, Buck, or Clifford would catch and dunk in the same motion. Those Blazer teams were fun to watch. I'll never forget that 49--18 first qtr. vs a 60 win Spurs team

I always admired Clyde The Glide. People don't remember, but there was a time (early 90s) where a number of reporters thought Clyde was equal to Michael Jordan. I laughed at that, and I bet no one still thinks that. Clyde was at his best attacking the rim. His main fault was he took too many 3s: he wasn't a very good 3 point shooter (31% career). MJ said if Clyde missed his first 2-3 outside shots, Clyde became a bigger threat because he would then attack the rim and concentrate on other areas (passing, setting up offense, etc). He just never had that hunger/drive that MJ or Kobe did. He could rebound, play good D, was a freak athletically, and very humble. Glad he got his ring with Houston in 95.

Don't forget, when Clyde burns Jordan because Jordan is overcompensating for Clyde's explosion, Jordan was the NBA Defensive MVP. Let that sink in. Blazers were one more legit star from multiple Chips. Porter and Robinson were good, but were 25%+ less productive than Pippen (another Defensive MVP), and all the defensive focus was on Clyde ... talk about a stacked deck lol

Fitting that he finally got his NBA Championship Ring playing alongside his college teammate Hakeem Olajuwon, two Class Acts and Hall Of Famers. And two of the 50 Greatest Of All Times.

That's why he isn't underrated. He had minimal mid range game and minimal left hand handle. Still a top 50 player tho.

@@nothingnothing7648 Anyone who says he had minimal mid range game never actually watched him play. Even Dumars said Drexler destroyed him in the finals with his mid range game.

@naquoashuey2794 well, that's your point of view. In my eyes, the only thing that separates Jordan and Kobe from Dr J and Clyde/Wade was their back to the basket and midrange offense. That's the way I see it. We can agree to disagree tho.

If Cliff Robinson had not drop the ball out of bounds against the lakers in the 91’ western conference finals and the Blazers win the would have possibly beat the Bulls in the finals. Blazers we’re the best team in the league that year. Wish Clyde could have gotten a ring with the Blazers.

The sequence from 8:30 to 9:00 was an incredible nba finals moment. If this was Jordan or Kobe it would be highlighted by the nba constantly. But because it’s Drexler, no one cares.

Clyde could glide but would have been so much better if he improved his handles. He never used his left hand and had to watch the ball when dribbling more than a few dribbles with his right.
