I work for the VW group and I can confirm the many issues they have, I think it's down to the fact that they're not trying to fill niches but to supply their cars in big numbers to consumers who are loyal to the brand. Vw owners are sort of like iPhone owners, they rarely switch to anything else, so they are willing to deal with everything thats thrown at them. VW doesn't make bad cars, but they can't seem to get the best out the products they offer, because they're such a huge industry themselves, which makes it hard to go into detail in the development phase
@Bartonovich523 жыл бұрын
Well.. consider that VAG is fighting with Toyota and GM to be the dominant player in the world auto industry... they’d better figure it out. You don’t increase market share by catering to loyalists. Bargain basement financing only goes so far as well.. and all of the Jettas and Passats I see in the rental lots don’t bode well for good resale values down the road.

@@manwimba9277 for real??, my mk5 tdi has only given me problems with the glow plug rail (made of plastic) but after that it's fine, I try to do all the services on time (oil and filter every 4k miles, check the turbo and hoses, I flush my cooling system every year, etc) and most of them I do it myself to save some $$$.

Hell yeah I have had some VW's! I have had six aircooled VW's but am only down to the one at the moment. But the one that I have now is a 64 VW Notchback and she is about to start in the first time since 1985. I am only a little bit excited. I swear only a little.

We own 2 - 2019 Golf R-line and 2009 Beetle Miami. I have owned more than 30 different cars and I totally understand what you mean about there being something different about the drive of a VW. We have had a door lock fail in the Beetle, but VW came to the party with the fix even though it was out of warranty. No issues with the Mk 7.5 Golf at this stage.

I've owned 6 vag vehicles. Every single one has had issues, and some of those cars were just money pits with seemingly endless issues. But I always come back. Why? They're incredible when they're sorted, and there's something about not driving boring cars.. I'll stick to the I5s of the 90s and half the electrical systems/components of modern day iterations 🤘
