Beautiful images and video. Hypothermia and overcast are tough on photography and photographers. I've been up on Snaefell NOT in the winter and it was breezy (my pedestrian touristy photos were super overcast.) Strong freezing damp wind can kill. The way your pack strap was flapping around that was a strong wind and you didn't look like you had enough layers on for it. Snaefell killed a wind turbine (tower?) once. Good call on turning back. The lone car reminds me of driving from Ramsey to Douglas.

Happy New Year, indeed, James! Super images w/contrasting color themes. Blue hour shot something special - rocks and shore alone would set the mood, imo, without the cottage or sky. (Cottage itself nothing “quaint”). Recall a tramway along hill in one of your earlier posts - thought it was a road zig-zagging on mt. Tramway works, especially w/layering of clouds and hills. Thought fall was your favorite season for shooting landscapes. At least there were no gate tropes in this vid😁.

Thanks Paul - I would rank the seasons as follows. 4.Spring, 3.Summer, 2.Autumn, 1.Winter. All the best for 2021 🙂

Thank you! Very hard question to answer without my own bias slipping in. I honestly think the Z7 and Z lenses are all I need really. If they can bring a light 70-200 f4 which accepts teleconverts to the lens roadmap then its pretty much perfect

Great shots! Wish we had some snow down here in the SW - even a measly amount :-)
@iainmc98594 жыл бұрын
Both lovely shots but I prefer the beach one as the colour contrast of the trackway sunset is too defined - tropical island sunset with snowy scene beneath - even if it was SOOC I'd blend it a bit. Funny how you said I've got 'about two hours before the sun sets', and my first thought was ....wishful thinking. Glad you changed your mind. The 'Rule of Thumb' states you have one hour of sunlight, for each one thumb knuckle the sun is above the horizon at arms length. Surprising how true this holds, season in, season out. If you drop into a valley it holds true. The south side of some valleys get no direct sunlight at all in winter. I think the one thing that 2020 has taught us is 'live on an island, a small one, the smaller the better'. Actually, there's a second, 'trust science, not politicians!' Have a wonderful, safe and happy New Year.

Happy New Year James and thanks for all the content in 2020, it's helped make a bad year a little better. Do you have any plans for the Z 70-200mm f2.8 in 2021? Thank you Richard! Happy New Year! As good as the 70-200 looks I don't plan to get it at the moment. I'm going to wait to see if Nikon bring any lighter telephoto options to the table like a 70-200 f4 or the 100-400 which is on their Z roadmap. Hopefully by summer I'll have a better idea

The photography I'm doing at the moment uses less and less too long exposures, the max is 2 seconds I prefer the "lines" created by water and not the "foggy" look, on second I would be on tracks to create depth. But hey that's me and ofc everyone sees it differently! Subscribed, have a great year.

James Every time you mention where you are, I have to stop the video and look it up, realizing that as I do so, the Isle of Mann is only one-fifth the size of the middling sized county I live in here in central Texas. I should be able to find landscapes that at least shine the shoes of the vistas that you shoot. you'd think.
