people continue to underestimate how good caitlin clark is, including caitlin clark youtube pundits who agree that last year caitlin was the third or fourth best player in the wnba. they underestimate caitlin because by the end of last season, caitlin clark was the best player in the wnba. caitlin clark's rookie season was a tale of three seasons. from the start of the season to the announcement of the olympic roster, a period covering 13 days (or one-third of the season), caitlin clark averaged 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game with a shooting slash line of .373/.330/.897, all-star caliber numbers. from the announcement of the olympic roster to the olympic break, a period covering 13 games, caitlin clark averaged 17.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game with a shooting slash line of .434/.324/.885, first team all-wnba caliber numbers. from the olympic break to the end of the season, a period covering 14 games, caitlin clark put it all together and averaged 23.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game with a shooting slash line of .435/.370/.929, mvp caliber numbers. caitlin's rookie campaign was a tale of three seasons. the evolution of a player's game is measured from year-to-year but caitlin clark is no ordinary player. given her talent, basketball iq and work ethic, the arc of her evolution as a player is steeper than any other player in the history of the league and possibly the game. and she will continue to evolve faster than other player into the foreseeable future. her evolution will eventually peak but in the meantime she will only be get better. that is a scary thought. ask yourself this question: right now, is caitlin clark the player she was in the first third of the season, the second third of the season, the last third of the season, or some amalgamation of all three? right now, caitlin clark is the player she was in the last third of the season, and probably better. and in the last third of the season, caitlin clark had evolved into the best player in the wnba. the numbers do not lie: 23.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 8.9 assists with a shooting slash line of .435/.370/.929. that's my take and i'm sticking to it
@davidraiklen452114 сағат бұрын
Excellent analysis Mick and Bobby! The tale of 3 seasons is true, we're seeing the best get better. She learns and adds skills so quickly. What the team needs is a strong forward and a defensive scheme they can all buy into. Mick is right, a player you have to guard in all directions 30 feet from the basket is basically unstoppable by anyone. If the league continues no-calls, the media has to speak up, and the fans.

I just worry if that the proliferation of exercises in new ways of playing, good for a teenager rather than a 23-year-old player, will instead of enrich and strengthen her game, dismantle her existing strengths.
@williamtaylor97482 сағат бұрын
It’s not accurate to say Caitlin can’t shoot when going right. She did it on several occasions. But it is true she had a tendency to go to the basket and not shoot from outside when going right. Every athlete has tendencies that they prefer. I don’t think those general tendencies can be eliminated. But you can reduce them by improving the athlete’s comfort levels.
@mjl.9-1917 сағат бұрын
Porter knows what CC needs and she does need it to get to the next level. Defenses are more tuned in to CC's habits this year. Dorian Group channel analyzed what she needed months ago, and another channel just published same things. How doable are the new moves keeping in mind she grooved her preferred habits over many years. It takes work and time. I believe she wants MVP's and a ring or two ... she knows exactly what it takes.

You know another player who doesn't bother much with the mid-range game, Mick? Steph Curry. It's mostly 3's or drives to the hoop. A little floater here or there. Only a situational "2" when it's handed to him. It's worked out pretty well for him. He shoots the shots that are most valuable for him to shoot. Same as Caitlin. Mid-range is not a priority for a generational 3-point shooter. Going to the basket is, to make defensive players pay for overplaying on defense. Granted, a little pull up jumper is nice when you get by your primary defender and don't have a lane to the hoop, but with a player with the court sense and passing abilities of Caitlin, finding the open player and passing is often just as valuable as taking that mid-range shot. Distribute the ball and get everyone involved.

Good for Caitlin Clark getting her drills and practices in. Who in their right mind would even want to risk their necks playing in this Unrivaled League? Kate Martin found out the hard way what can happen if you turn your back for even a second... one of these th*gs will blindside you while the league cheers its approval. Unrivaled essentially made it clear to Caitlin Clark the same would be happening to her if she joined their league and then had the nerve to act outraged when she rebuffed their offer. I have to admit I am impressed with Satally who for whatever reason is not performing as expected. It means she's not buying into this goofy format and risking screwing up her game. Along with not risking a costly injury right before the free agency period begins.
