My biggest obstacle in the journey of cgm is controlling the urge to straighten my hair permanently since for me my styling routine didn’t last me for 2 days as well . It’s been about 2 - 3 months onto my cgm .

The urge to straighten will go slowly. Only once your hair starts looking nice. I remember wanting to straighten when i first started. The first few months were difficult. It gets much better. You'll put in so much effort into taking care of your hair. The thought of burning it with heat will feel like torture. Just you wait

Hello Michelle, congrats for reaching 30k❤️!!i am so happy knowing your channel is reaching a lot of people😊..although I love taking care of my hair it can be a little frustrating at times due to the amount of effort that it takes but the results makes everything worth it..I never thought I'd ever want to wear my hair curly because I always thought my hair was unmanageable, unruly, a lot frizzy and so on but you are one of the few people who made me realize curly hair isn't always just that it can be beautiful and it has a lot of benefits too(example we can wear our natural hair to any occasion, and we don't have to brush our hair once it dries😂)..thank you for being a huge inspiration in my CGM journey and I wish you all the success in life❤️

Heyy Michelle!❤️ I am so grateful I found this video!❤️This video was soo informative!✨️ It's been a year since I'm into CGM! Since then I had trouble drying my hair...I have Sinus issues and my high to medium porosity hair takes much time to dry...As I didn't want to spend on a diffuser..I would dry my hair with the help of a table fan while sitting at a distance but it would mess up my hair and the styling..All the struggle I took to style would go in vain...I would end up having lots and lots of frizz..To cut down the drying time I have also tried using mousse to my hair but wasn't satisfied as the time for drying remained a slight less but my hair was soo dry because of the mousse! And my second biggest struggle was affording products while being a student but to the rescue, your videos have helped alott! I can completely rely on your recommendations as it would surely be budget friendly which I love so much about you because as a student I can readily afford! All the products I have purchased till now would have either been reviewed or recommended by you! I appreciate you being a savior!❤️

Hi Michelle. When I first found out about cgm, I couldn't get enough of it. I began following certain techniques of cgm at the beginning of this year. So glad to have stumbled upon your content. The struggle that I've faced and continue to face is maintaining of definition till the next wash day. Nevertheless, such tips and tricks are of great help. I would love to see a video where you show how you maintain your hair through out the week.

Hi Michelle,Hope you are doing great.I am into CGM for 8 months.I have learnt many things from you as a beginner from product recommendations, ranging products according to hair porosity, how to style the hair.A best one word to define you is that you are a really great curly/wavy tutor for the beginners out there. My biggest struggle is to figure out what styling routine works for me.The same products n same techniques gives me different results. Then I changed quantity of the products used n styling in moderate wet hair,it works fine. But my curls don’t hold up after the washday.I am learning a lot till now.

The biggest problem i faced during transiotion periode is explaining others that iam doing natural curly hair jurney.. Everyone at home questions me regarding using chemichals during natural curly hair journey 🤭.. Am still on my trwnsition periode and my family claims that now my hair looks so oily and unmanageable than it was. But its ok to me. Coz i know iam in my transition periode. Wen others tease me i will tell them 'Rome was not built in a day'. Since there is heavy rain in kerala, it took more time to dry my hair. Iam a regular viewer of your videos. Ur video making quality is appreaciatable. And my fav one is that video which u style ur moms hair.. 😍😍 I should say one more thing, U r tge first wavy girl i followed in youtube and there are only few i think. Hi Michelle, I love your videos and have been watching quite a few for the past two weeks. You explain everything perfectly and make CG routine easier to follow. I just started on my own CG routine, not giving too much time but enough to handle it for now as I am a beginner. I am keeping my gel as a constant. I never knew gels can actually make so much difference. I will add a leave in conditioner later. I have scalp infection issue and humid conditions in my city make things worse so I need to wash my scalp and hair at least twice a week. But I am really liking the results right now. I do not expect too much change but your suggestions have changed things for the better. I am really glad to have come across your channel 😀 Now I look forward to your videos !!

Hi Thanks for sharing this video.. I just started my CGM journey 2-3 months back when I accidentally came across your video in my recommended videos in youtube. I have wavy hair like yours, so I was never sure if I should follow the CGM or not, hence ended up blow drying or temporary straightning. Since I started my journey I have received a lot of compliments from my friends and colleagues who appreciated my curl looks. This really gave me the confidence to carry on with the CGM. While I am still struggling with a lot of hair fall and bad hair days during the week, this video really gives me the motivation to carry on with CGM and figure out which works best for me. So now I proudly wear my hair as my crown when my straight haired friends compliment me 😀😀

Hey Michelle! This video resonated with me because this just my 2nd month of CGM and by now I know that my hair are like teenagers-they are moody and well unpredictable 🤭so, on my recent wash day, I knew that the upcoming week was hectic and that I wouldn't even have time to apply serum so I made peace with it and I have been okay and not at all upset with how my hair is. Hey dear Michelle, first of all a huge thank you for being so informative yet very easily explaining the the points to remember while starting CGM. I started CGM 2 months back by keeping my entire faith in you and your videos and it has proven to be very amazing. I have mid length type 3a hair (I think). I used to hate my hair and now I am in love with my natural hair and I've kept my straightener far away for me to reach (thanks to you, I'll never need it😁). At the start I didn't get the desired results but then I remember you saying to have patience in your previous videos as we've abused our hair for so long (in my case 10-12 years straight) and I'm doing the same. As I know I have a very long way to go on with my CG journey so I'm gonna have patience and I also know that I'll keep falling in love with my hair again and again. Suddenly weekly wash days are so fun. You are my saviour really! Thanks girl. You are an angel. I'm so proud to be in the curly girls cult!🤗😃 Being a curly girl is really awesome as last week I was at a restroom in a mall and suddenly saw two girls discussing about their curly hair and I went to them and started sharing my thoughts and tips of CGM (all gathered from you😍) and you know what we shared numbers and became friends just because we had curly hair...can you imagine how awesome that was! Anyways, I am really looking forward for the video of the best products that you used in 2022 when the year ends. Thanks a billion again.

it has been 1 year since i started my cgm. i agree with all of your viewpoints as i made the same mistake of expecting results like the 3b and 3a hair when i have 2b and 2c low porosity hair. Also styling is very important and it makes a huge difference when you style or don't style it. i do not generally do those intricate styling like with the denman brush but i do section my hair and use your ribbon method with the green coloured comb to evenly distribute products and oh boy the difference it makes. Figuring out what works for you is very important because two of the most unpopular things that worked out for my hair is not scrunching my hair while applying products and not refreshing with water based technique. praying hand methods and combing through it works for me and dry refreshing with a curl cream and gel is the only thing that works for me. maybe the reason behind the above two things is because i have super thick, coarse and low porosity hair so scrunching even with enough water causes frizz and spraying my hair with water just causes it to swell and frizz up. it is either no water at all or drenching my entire head of hair with water. So basically everyone should figure out what works for them because what works might go against the popular narrative because just like you your hair is also very unique. also one of the most important factor is also the environment you live in, since i live in assam which at present have almost 93 percent humidity everyday so more frizz is normal and to get as good results as the winter or less humid days i will also have to tweak the amount or even apply maybe a more thicker product. all in all you are unique your hair is unique and your routine is also going to be unique. the only two thing i am struggling even now is to find the perfect leave in conditioner as it is either too heavy or too light and to find a serum without silicones. i had straightened my hair for 10 years from 13 to 23 age but suffering from chemical damage and self introspection and trying to embrace myself completely led me to the path of cgm and although my hair is not perfect i would not trade it for anythig else. With my wavy curly hair i feel complete

Doesn't matter if you feel like your opinions are unpopular. You know that they work. Thats all that matters. Great insights actually. It shows how much you've actually learnt about your hair and what it likes best. When i first started my channel i got a few comments about how i was going wrong with my styling technique. I wasted lots of time taking suggestions when i should have trusted my gut. I wasted weeks on bad washdays with bad results. Ultimately all the techniques i using personally worked best for my hair. There was no need to twerk what was already working.

Another SUPER-helpful video! Thank you. (I've been going crazy trying to figure out EVERYTHING as quickly as possible.) I'm only about 2 or 3 weeks into my journey. I've been watching copious amounts of YT videos, and reading lots of online info. I've been logging my activities and products daily, but thanks to your video I realize that I need to document my processes and techniques better than I have been. The thing I'm having the most difficulty with is determining my hair strand thickness. I'm also very frustrated that there's very little out their for us with short hair (mine is only about 4 inches long). Many techniques just don't work on such short hair. Most frustrating!

This is so helpful! It gives me encouragement. It's been almost 8 months since I have started CGM. At first i simply started with a curl cream. I loved the small change it brought to my hair. And it has almost been 6 months since I started following all the steps of cgm. I am quite content with my hair journey but there are areas where I need to work on. I have some worries. I feel like I need to work on my styling techniques and the ways of protecting my hair. I tried rake, shake and scrunch this week. This is really quick styling technique compared to finger coiling but my curls really didn't turn out to be good. It was not so bad on day 1 but the curls are really loose and i got lots of frizz. I always do that experient to check if my hair needs moisture or protein before every hair wash and my hair is always in need of moisture. They break so easily. I am worrying about how to protect my hair better. I do use a satin bonnet (ordered it from a small business account from Instagram the one you suggested in your earlier video). I just ordered satin pillow case from your recommendation. I feel like i need to train my hair because one side of my hair has nice curl pattern while the other side just don't hold the curls. Maybe because I get impatient by the end of whole routine. I mostly have decent results on first day but by 3rd day they are a mess and I can't wait to wash them again (i struggled to understand priosity. I think I have high priosity hair even though I have never used heat or anything on my hair, it seems genetic 🥺). My hair always looked so dry and damaged (they still look dry). They are quite unmanageable though it has gotten better after I started CGM. I truly don't trust to get a haircut at salon and after starting CGM, I'm even more scared (i like long hair and they don't specify in curly hair cut). I usually trim my hair at home once or twice a year. I just wish to reduce the hair fall and breakage and have defined curls. Your videos have always helped me. I trust your recommendation more than anything. Thank you for bringing all these informative videos! P.S. I just saw someone's comment and request about hair style ideas for Durga Puja. That would be awesome 😍❣️

Hi Michelle I watch ur videos since u started... I find my hair type similar to u... My biggest problm was I thought my hair was curly so i used a lot of masks and heavy products and i also used more quantity of a product... But that weighted down my hair and it looks flat but when I realised that my hair are not curly .... They are somehow wavy and are low porosity hair then my hair game changes and now I m very happy with my result ... Now I use that much product which my hair require...

I can absolutely relate to this video. I've been in the CGM journey for about 7-8 months now. And although I do know so much more about my hair, I cannot say that I've perfected my routine! Some days my results are perfect without effort and some days, the most careful scrunch and CGM routine yields flat results. I've now come to come in peace with my D0 frizz less hair and D7 frizzfull hair! It's so easy to have the output of your hair affect your day or your week, and that's the most challenging, given how tedious CGM can sometimes get. It's tough but it helps to be kinder to ourselves. Absolutely love the video and the philosophy! And props to whoever is starting their CGM journey - the biggest reward is learning more about your hair and taking care of it, I think I've fallen in love with the process > results! ❤️❤️

hi Michelle! i remember you telling me what you said @3:05, long time back, in the comments. I'd asked for some advice, and you had given me this little bonus tip that really helped :) before then, for some reason, i had only seen everyone mention styling on soaking wet hair-- which was not working for me at all. now I've figured out that wringing out the hair slightly works best for me, same as you! i've been on cgm on and off for around a year, i think. i previously had naturally straight, smooth hair all of my life. completely different texture. then a few years back it suddenly started to look frizzy and rough, it was falling out. apparently, it changed textures. Took me a while to figure out i was a wavy girl now lol, and i still haven't figured out why.

The biggest obstacle for me was realizing that I have low porosity hair. All my life it's been very dry and frizzy, and after discovering the different porosities, I assumed I have high porosity. Soon I realized that some of the styling techniques I was doing was actually making the frizz worse lol! After implementing some low porosity techniques I now have much more moisture, definition, and no product build up. It sounds extreme, but it has become life changing!😄💖

Prior to this I had a stylist in 2015 or so who suggested finger curls with OGX curl cream after Wellas shampoo and conditioner. However, I was not happy with the results. After watching your videos I have been seeing motivating results. Topic suggestion: I have seen your (almost global) hair colouring video. A balayage on textured dark hair at home with doable hair partitions would be interesting.

Hey Michelle! I’m a big fan and I WISH I had seen this video a year ago when I started my CGM journey. Like a young embraces of CGM, I bought all products I could get my hands on and blamed them when my wash day wasn’t good. I didn’t even know there were different techniques. I bought really heavy products for my hair like fmc hair butter, cantu curl activator! I WISH someone had told me to start with lighter products and then go for heavier ones if the light ones didn’t work. Now I’m only using light products like light leave-in conditioners, light to medium hold gels and mousses/foams. I have 2A-2B virgin low porosity fine wavy hair and my hair really appreciates light products. I had a very difficult time making hard hold gels work for me! Now I’m just using light stuff and loving it! I use hair buff at night (it’s my favourite form of wave protection at night). I’m excited for the giveaway! In terms of content, could you do a video on the lightest products you’ve used? I know you have one for low porosity. But I want to know light gels and leave in’s that you’ve asked which won’t weigh down hair at all. Thank you Michelle! Always look forward to your videos :)

I have been doing the CGM for 3 weeks & I have had 3 wash days in total. My first ever CGM day wash pièce de résistance. My second wash day was disappointing as I had more frizz even immediately after the styling (I used less water). The latest one was good & the curls lasted longer. My biggest issue is frizz ofc & when wake up in the morning. I sleep wearing my hair in a pineapple & a bonnet. My lengths are still curly but close to my roots, the curls stretch out, lose definition & vanish on the 3rd day. Oh yeah, the hair fall during the deep conditioning & styling makes want to quit CGM but I am trying different foods & oil to curb the hair fall.

Hey love 🥰 Thank you for being there for us 💕 Yes Michelle, the journey is difficult. I would have quit without you. Wait a minute, I started CGM because I accidentally watched your video. After 7 months i almost find out the routine. Just like you, wet hair dilute products and doesn't look good. Styling on damp hair - lost definition after one day. My hair loved protein when I started now we are in love with moisture. I hate my hair on first days, because it is extremely thin, scalp is showing. But later my hair gets really frizzy.. it is really bothering me but solve my scalp visibility problem. I told you before I had lost significant amount of hair. Now I'm taking medication for now. Hope I'll be able to get back to not so bald scalp soon 😂 Scalp visibility is problem. No matter how I style I find it difficult to cover my scalp. But another problem is I get sick very easily these days. Fever atleast once in a month. And family is telling me that these long styling is technic is the reason. I bought diffuser recently - Wahl diffuser after watching your video. Still i get fever. Anyway my family is forcing me to stop CGM which I'm not intended to do now. I would love to know how do you manage your routine when you have migraine. Now I'm sick I just shampoo and conditioner. Apply a least amount of leave in because my hair extremely dry after shampooing. Good luck Michelle 🥰 love you lots 💕 By the way that eye look is killer🔥 Editing this comment, people's comments are a huge turn off for a beginner. I had to attend cv camp recently and one of the fellow teacher who is really older than me told me that I look like a ghost because of my hair😔 luckily I had my colleague with me who is a straightyyyy and she defended me and I managed to escalate the situation. Guess what, I washed and styled my hair that morning but travelling in public transport bus made my hair like that. Girl.. you might've known how I felt that day. But my work wife helped me... Hey Michelle, you are the reason I started CGM. I didn't know what it was. It's been 2-3 months now. So thank you!! I have many struggles but my biggest struggle is in styling. I've tried a few different methods and still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or why none of them are really working. The bottom and back layers curl well but my crown and face framing pieces are all stretching out. Another struggle i have is with travelling by rickshaws. I use a claw clip or silk scrunchie but it causes so much frizz anyway!! :( Also, drying takes way too long when I put gel in and I don't have a diffuser. So it's always a pain to fit a wash into my schedule.

Another great video, I really needed to hear all of this. I've been on CG journey for about 8-9 months now and I haven't been that consistent. I'm definitely using only CG friendly products, doing most of the techniques you've taught but it's not even close to perfect, I still need a lot of time. I realised today that I was also blaming the products I purchased more than my techniques and how religiously I followed the routine. I'm going to experiment more from now on. Thanks a lot for this video ❤️❤️ I have some more struggles too but it might be a lot for you to answer, so you don't really have to reply. I have started thinking that maybe I just don't like my curl pattern or my texture and I am getting tempted to get a protein treatment done which reduces frizz and gives a softer and shinier appearance (not smoothening or keratin treatment) but at the same time I also really really want to embrace my natural hair, so I'm waiting for CG to work for me. I hope it does before I give up on CG.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. I'm happy to reply on youtube so that everyone reading can also gain value. I get the not liking your curl type issue. I was the same. Always wanting something that i didn't have. Wavy people want curls and curly people want waves. Wavy people want shrinkage and curly people want elongation and less shrinkage because it gives the appearance of length. I get so many msgs where people want less volume and waves that are loose and more flat and together looking. The grass is always greener on the other side. But the more you take care of your hair the more you'll appreciate what you have. When i started my journey i would have done anything to change my curl type. Now i wouldn't change it for the world. You'll reach that point. I know you will. It's like joining a sorority. The more difficult the initiation process, the more loyalty you'll feel towards it. Hang in there. It gets better.
