Hi JC! You should try removing the treble hooks and replace them with straight circle hooks. Trebles often ore difficult to pry off the fish, can gill hook and cause arterial gill bleeding, and otherwize injure the fish. Single circle hooks work just as good but wont injure the fish as easily as treble hooks. Try it ill bet you wont want to go back to treble hooks. Take care JC!

I tie an FG knot kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYTMZ3qph6h5jqs but a small swivel will work too. I like to have a leader as long as the fishing rod. An FG allows me to reel the connecting knot through the eyes of the rod.

Super job! Maybe I missed it, but would you post a LINK for the plastic bag you're using here to secure your Yo Zuri hard bait to your fishing rod. Just came back from Destin, FL. Gentleman near me was Pompano Fishing near me was using live bait, and I was also Pompano Fishing but using Doc's Goofy Jigs. The water was Gin Clear mornings at Henderson Beach State Park. Neither of us caught anything. My time there was short. There was a Purple Flag posted on the Destin beaches. I did see a Man-of-war, and I spotted a Huge Stingray that swam very close to me (my feet were only shin-deep in the water on the beach) as it slowly swam parallel to the water's edge about 5 ft deep. There were plenty of birds around, letting me know there were fish around. If I'd had more time to fish, I would have switched to using a Z-man Elastic Swimbait to fish for Trout or Spanish Mackerel. The Gentleman said just before he packed up to leave that he'd been fishing all week every day and had caught no Pompano. Wish I'd had more time to fish. Anyway, my wife & I had a great Destin Vacation, and the seafood served at Boshamps Restaurant was fantastic (habit-forming)! Both Boshamps & Destin itself ... our No#1 Go-To Vacation Spot.

He didn’t scratch it. Just used the pliers as a 3rd foot to hold him steady. If you ever get hooks in your hand while still in a fish you do whatever you can to stay safe .
