10:52 that is the usual mosquito eradication unit. They gone out to smoke an entire village with those from time to time. I'm living in a countryside of Isan and they do this, usually in the Rainy season. Didn't know they do this in the North in this time of year too.

I was reading about the bad air quality, since Ewa said that in one of the first videos and I was surprised. Thought how can that be in a country full of nature, but in all seems to be coming from all the fires you saw along the roads, so there must be a lot of those.
@gryphongryph9 сағат бұрын
Yes, a big problem, especially in the central/north where the farmers are burning the land/old crop, many westerners living in those areas go south in the burning season as the pollution is severe.

If you see the truck turns on the turn left light on the narrow road, it means to signal vehicles behind can pass. The truck driver knows that it is slow and it is double lines and dangerous as you could not see the road ahead. This is a kind gesture in Thailand and I think most of the world as well. Fumigation is to get rid of mosquitoes, carrier of diseases.
@ontheroadadventure14 сағат бұрын
We guessed that with the truck lights, we just don’t have the power to pass safely without seeing the road ahead. Do they spray all that smoke inside the house to get rid of mosquitoes? They must have a severe problem there to do that?
@rockinrodlittle7 сағат бұрын
In Kenya, a lot of drivers did that. Problem was, it wasn’t common practice so the turn signal was a moot point. You had to pass on your own judgement
@bryangrange388013 сағат бұрын

My translator says (The farm is in its fragrant) that smoking house could be to rid it of termites or dengue mozzies ,. At least people in thailand are motorcycle aware, half the bike riders out there don’t have a license either, especially the kids, in the villages e.bikes are quite popular,. And it’s nice to have attendant serving fuel at the garages, with a car you usually get given a free big bottle of water when buying fuel,. Cheers.

The fires are a real big problem. A lot of the bad air quality comes from that. A real shame. What they did there I really don’t know but sometimes the smoke out pesticides. Imported wine in Thailand is expensive because of the high taxation. The local produced wine is not much to have for us westerners. My mouth is dripping when I see you eat minced pork with basil and egg. My favorite dish in Thailand and the name in thai is kind “pad krapaow moo zap kai dao” 😍

Whilst I was in the military in hot places we would often ( two or three times a week) have a guy who would do ‘swing fog’ as we called it … no idea who employed him or what the chemicals used were exactly but he spent his life wandering around the place swinging the fog in every building and sure enough insects fell to the ground more or less instantly

I wish I had a bigger bike so I could ride faster. You have to ride slower to enjoy the view. Which one is it?
@ontheroadadventureСағат бұрын
Ah now there’s a difference between having more power and riding fast. Our 1100 Africa twins are powerful but not fast for example. Power and torque is needed for keeping momentum, ease of use and indeed to have confidence for over takes and getting out the way of danger. The go slow see more approach is about taking the small roads through villages and exploring. So many like to get a big touring bike and do 500 miles in a day, crossing countries but seeing none of it. We ourselves have learnt this mistake

Not suprised you're a bit wary of some food. Deli Belli is not nice. That old bike had a rigid back end with a well sprung saddle and girder forks. Probably relic from WW2. Not sure if it's the same now, but at one time all young men had to spend time as a monk. Eva misses the UK, will be sad when this tour finishes. But your missing shit weather here.

A Thai licence is very easy to get and is rudimentary in machine control and road safety. Failing that you can buy a licence or just don't bother at all. I'm sure you've seen many underage children riding bikes on the road. Road safety, what's that !
