One of GT7's biggest issues is throttle oversteer. We show you how to tune any car to overcome this WITHOUT using traction control.

because the tuning isn’t elaborated to where people with no real car knowledge gets it, but definitely the worst thing about it is that it’s not encouraged enough to where people wanna try it, all people know is PP being so used to arcade races where more points mean better, i still catch myself thinking that way and end up with a crazy fast car with no handling at high speeds, i think they should’ve forced the tuning aspect like having us add downforce, adjust dampening ect, because to someone even like me it can be extremely overwhelming to where you just settle for the highest PP n call it a day

Keep in mind that you can also rob yourself of speed out of the corners by setting the acceleration sensitivity too low. A more open differential essentially limits the power to the tire with the most grip based on the tire with less grip. (It's more complicated than that, but that's the end result) This means the car won't accelerate as hard while turning, and will struggle to rotate on the throttle. This is why pro setups tend to use higher acceleration sensitivity (IRL= lower angle). They have the driving technique and throttle control to use it to their advantage. They usually try to get the car rotated as quickly as possible while being in control and not losing speed (like in a drift). The earlier they can get the car rotated, the earlier they can open the steering and straighten the car out. With a higher diff acceleration sensitivity, setting the diff will lock earlier and they will have more torque available to accelerate onto the straight. As with all settings, it's about finding the proper balance depending on the driver, car, track, and conditions. Also, GT's settings and physics may work a little different. They have a setting for sensitivity (angle), and initial torque (preload), but not locking strength (number of plates), so I'm not sure if that is combined into other settings. For anyone who wants to better understand how differentials work, Donut Media did a great video on torque vectoring, and they have another all about diffs too I believe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3qlnn2Mi5WtoNk Disclaimer: I'm just beginning to understand this stuff myself. So if I got something wrong, please correct me.

@angryginger791
@angryginger791 2 жыл бұрын
@@rinkumultani6515 Thanks. You are talking about rake; the angle the car sits at. It's a good way to tune out slight under or oversteer. Raising the rear will shift the weight forward, moving the balance toward oversteer. Lowering the rear does the opposite. However, when aerodynamics get involved it gets more complicated. raising the rear will increase the angle of the wings, so you may end up getting more rear grip in high speed corners, and less is slow corners. Lowering the rear will decrease the wing angle so you'll get less grip in fast corners, and but more in slow ones. Front ride height is usually just set as low as you can without bottoming out or limiting the suspension travel too much. Again, I'm not an expert, and the physics in GT may not fully follow real life. Dampers can be adjusted based on feel, but getting them really dialed usually requires telemetry and knowing how to read it. You can usually get the car feeling pretty good just using wing, ARB, ride height, diff, and brake bias settings. The tough thing about GT is they give you a lot of settings but you don't get a baseline setup with them. I'd look around online and see if you can find decent baselines, then tweak them to your style.

one thing to note is that raising the acceleration sensitivity in the rear increases on throttle rotation at high speed. I find cars with more than enough tire as well as aero can sometimes benefit from the higher accel setting, but 90% of road cars above 400hp and race cars with the harder compound of tire, its better to run it lower. great video
@heamees4822
@heamees4822 2 жыл бұрын
Although a lot better than it was in GT Sport, the tire physics still seem like the main issue. Tire grip just feels way too digital, it's almost like it's either on or off and you can't play with the car over the limit as much as you can in real life. I really hope they improve it with their partnership with Michelin

If you know what a floating cross shaft differential is or looks like, it makes tuning differentials so much easier in this game to understand in terms of the function/parameters. The initial torque is the bite of the clutch plates, that in turn are receiving the amount of torque under accel or decel based on the ramp angles of the cross shaft beds. Nice video. I have noticed that this game is specifically unique in that assumptive tuning methods of previous titles goes out the window. You can bottom out, have too hard or suspension, too low of suspension, too high even.... dampening is something you'll want to take a look at soon as you apply downforce.....

Thank you for the deep experimenting! I might try along the lines of your tune for the online championship races that allow tuning. This also reinforced my thoughts of not falling for higher PP in tuning hahaha! More PP might actually be worse as your car may over rotate on some tracks with altered but wrong settings. I noticed that understeer-bias tuning lowers the PP versus oversteer-bias.

Fantastic video! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for referencing the tuning aspect. I’ve had voiced my opinion on the physics to the gt groups but I just get shunned for my opinion… A+ driver told I can’t drive by B dr drivers 🤦‍♂️. The game is for the most part awesome, but the one thing it seems everyone wants to pretend isn’t actually there or a issue at all(I can’t drive responses) is the ungodly amount of snap oversteer there is and it’s with every single car on gt7. Some cars it’s so bad that they aren’t even drivable or competitive in their class. I get it that the tuning bunny’s are all for this physics flaw and it benefits them… but vast majority don’t know how to tune and then theirs the ones that find ways to manipulate the algorithm or play with certain adjustments to get unrealistic characteristics out the car. So in short, tuning races just become a bop no tune after everyone just copies and paste the same tune to remain competitive in gt7

I’ve noticed it in some cars in a way it doesn’t make much since, but other cars have zero issues for me… I’m running on a controller so I tend to use 1 level of traction control, but even still some cars end up uncontrollably loose, though I’ve found that to mostly be upgraded street cars, not (most) of the Gr4 and Gr3 cars. Myabe it's has something to do with my pedals being stock and not load cell which may help to throttle more accurately. On dirt tracks however drifting with a wheel is much easier and fun tho. Miata cone challenge with wheel is also impossible for me but easy with controller. With oversteer it's actually pretyy funny because i tested it in asseto corsa on PC and it's way easier to me drive than GT7. There is also way easier trick to handle oversteer. I still have zero idea what the Initial Torque setting for the diff even does, coming from diff-tuning in Forza which essentially just has the other two but phrased differently. And it's even weirder, because fully-locking the diffs on acceleration is what you want to be doing in Forza, at least until you reach S2 or you're only running two-wheel drive in which case you drop it right to the middle setting for the most part. Before this video, what I always did for cars with diffs on this was change them back to 10-40-20, which was what the defaults for it were in GT2 (and probably other games in the series as well), and that did help a bit. Should be interesting to see how this video's ideas play out in practice.

You could also adjust the body height to give the car some rake for better turn in and weight transfer when braking

I am sooo glad you pointed this out man! This physics behavior is what really makes the hole gt7 experience very arcady and unpredictable. I always thought I just overpowered the engine by tuning it too much. I don't really like to go into manual settings really, because I don't know enough about it... I actually would expect a game like this to automatically set it too the most realistic outcome. This behavior was even worse with gt sport. It would be great if more people would point this out, maybe there is a way polifony would listen to this? Try contacting them? I also believe it's hard to get the physics right for so many different cars/tracks and on top of that the game let's you tune the sh*t out of it including nitrous. Don't know how "realistic" this all can actually be... But great video and I am glad you pointed this out, I will definitely fine tune the heck out of it now. Would be great to see you making more of this kind of videos about gt7... Great job man! Cheers

I never thought to try minimum accel sensitivity in GT 7 to get stability. But also low antiroll settings with race tires can also cause snappy performance.

I want to love my 73’ BMW CSL but it’s almost undrivable when fully tuned, I can’t tune out the snap for love nor money… now it just sits there not getting driven… the 89’ E30 m3 however is an absolutely beautifully balanced car!

I have some questions. This tune you were doing works roughly the same on FR and MR cars, yes? Also......Is it a fair thing to say that the Wheel/Pedal setup is probably a better way to control throttle input and braking? I think I may be at the limit of my controller, and I am really starting to think that I need a wheel.

I actually thought it was the gravity physics that is lacking..proof is the silly jumps going hectic.. So less gravity = less grip = crazy spinning out. Its like less down force ..but even at slower speeds Edit: it may be a "torque" effect...requiring player to use analogue stick to correct the steering jitters that one would encounter. Problem is..its stupid to deploy them on a controller analogue stick. In a real wheel, you simply hold the wheel tighter or make minor adjustments.
@kaz9687

I can see that. For some reason in this game, I feel like you need an unrealistic amount of downforce to keep your car planted.

Watch out lowering cars......too low is going to cause interference with the wheel well and not allow full wheel lock in tight corners like hairpins and 90 degree corners.

You changed the diff distribution to 50/50 from the previous rear biased setting then blame the under steer on the suspension change. One change at a time right?

i'm not a car gamer.. or a gamer at all. but i am a car nut, and with the torque vectoring changing the ratios to 50/50 is something that creates huge understeer, car manufactors use the rear bias to make the car turn. 50/50 is usually a set up used in trucks with locked transfer cases

The physics are broken, hopefully they can patch it.. You can Try some basic rl tuning principles. Buy the fully customisable suspension. And Simply remember softer equals More - priority of Grip in weight Balance. You have anti-roll bars / dampers compression (bump) and expansion (rebound) / natural frequency (Springs rate) Try a generic baseline, like anti-roll bars F6 R3 Damping bump F35 R24 Damping rebound F45 R39 Spring stiffness F2.20 R1.70 The actual number doesn’t really matter only the difference. Bump or compression damping must always be lower at the rear, and Springs or natural frequency similar. Anti-roll bars and rebound expansion damping you can play around with more
