You're my 3D hero for real. Thanks for doing what you do and putting out tutorials, you've helped me get so much better in such a short amount of time after studying your workflow.

I've realized that for a 3D artist, the most effective way to make money isn't just by showcasing your portfolio. Instead, it's better to demonstrate your work in action. This is because portfolios can often be deceptive, as there's a lot of fake 3D artists out there who present work done by others as their own, making it tough for customers to trust someone based solely on an impressive portfolio. However, if they can see you actually creating the work on your KZbin channel, they're more likely to trust you.

This is great advice. I've been a 3D Visual Designer/3D motion designer for a lil over 10 years. From my experience it's difficult to get work at first until your skill level hits that top 10% level. I was lucky to have a decent network, and that helped my initial push. Once you hit that 10% though, then you find yourself turning down work, rather than cold calling to get work. Just my 2cent. Love your channel, just subscribed!

I want to learn about the tax process from a freelancer, KZbinr, content creator, and 3D Artist as yourself. Can you do a video on filing taxes step by step as a KZbin content creator and give us tips and tricks on what you learned as a first-timer? For example, how to file, what forms to use, what's expected, how often to file, a working strategy or system you implemented or use to keep yourself organized, crunching the number of what each revenue made and what line it goes on the tax forms I want to know for learning purposes so that when I or your audience reach monetization we don't have to worry about owing tax money for not filing right or filing late. I am only asking because I've never filled out a tax form before and it'd be nice if you'd do a step-by-step filling out a tax form line by line with us on-screen (input fake numbers obviously for learning purposes and your own privacy.) I've watched a lot of videos on this topic and most of the videos are long and what they are saying just goes over my head. I would like a video that breaks things down into small chunks of digestible and relatable information. I've been enjoying your straightforward content and valuable in-depth advice so I was wondering if you could speak on this topic.

My understanding is that it's different in many countries so if I made a video it would only appeal to my US based artists My advice is to keep track of all money in and all money out in a Google Sheets. Write down any income you receive (clients, digital goods, etc) and anything you spend (3D models, add-ons, graphics cards, etc.) I'm also not an IRS agent so I don't really have the authority to give advice like that. Keeping track of earnings/expenses will save you hours of trouble though

People don't realise that it's all about knowing your demographic. If a web designer were to start freelancing, Spencer's discord would be a great place to start because they could just look for a freelancer who seems to be earning well and then just contact them to sell custom portfolio websites and they are freelancers themselves so it's even easier to communicate. Hell even spencer would probably pay for that service if they approached at the right time. Likewise keeping connections with web developers is also a good idea for 3D artists because web developers often work with e-commerce clients and are in need of product renderers.

Beautiful and straight to the point video as always. Love your work, keep it up. I had a few questions about some topics. First one is about contracts. Isn't it important to have a contract that goes over what I am offering and what the client can do with my work? My question is, how do I create that contract for myself? What should be on the contract? Can I make it myself, or do I need to reach out to a lawyer? It'd be great if you could make a separate video on this topic. Second one is about the payment procedure. How should I go about it? Should the client just send the money over PayPal? What if I don't have PayPal in my country? If you could go over the whole process for fixing the price and getting the payment between the client and the freelancer, that would be amazing. For example: How and when do I talk about the price? After asking for all the details about the project? Before starting or after finishing the project? How can I sound more professional? Ik the price varies a lot based on the project, and I'm not asking for tips on that, I'm asking for tips on how to talk about the price with the client. Same thing goes for the payment process. How do I establish a payment method? Should I ask for 20% or 50% before starting the project? What if I realize I need to buy a model or an add-on during my work? Can I ask the client for more money to buy that model/add-on? Please go over these in more detail, it'll be helpful for a lot of people.

Hey, glad you enjoyed! This is not legal advice but I would focus on getting clients and getting paid a few times before worrying about contracts. Most clients that aren't covered in red flags are just gonna want a smooth, easy process with you just like what you want with them. Keep things about pricing, deadlines, etc. in written texts as opposed to discussed over the phone so you can reference them. As a general rule of thumb, unless you're getting paid enough to justify hiring a lawyer and going to court, a contract is only as useful as adding the feeling of extra protection. I also find that in some cases, a contract is an extra speed bump in the client closing process. If you're just starting out, I would get some money before you go all in on legal things. Once again, not legal advice. Whatever you do, create a detailed spreadsheet documenting all money in and all money out. Will be extremely useful for taxes and tracking growth. I have a video about contracts, but it's pretty old and I don't agree with everything I said. If you're interested it may still be worth watching: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5_blXqegLOtibs& Also, for pricing/payment, use the most reputable or recognizable payment processor you can, (PayPal, Stripe, Square, etc.) and don't start the work until you get half of the payment up front. (I use Square Invoices in the US). Once the work is complete, send proof of completion (low res/watermarked copies or even a picture of your screen lol) and then say you'll send the final over once you get payment 2/2. If you need to buy a model or add-on, you should figure this out before you start your work and implement any costs into your price. It's pretty unprofessional to agree on a price and then ask for extra if you need to buy something. Hopefully this helps!

The reality is that unless you're getting a TON of people onto your page organically or through referrals, people aren't going to be reaching out for work for a while. Despite having several hundred thousand views on my KZbin channel, I've never gotten a client from KZbin. People I know who do IG reels have the same experience it seems. Clients aren't just gonna stumble upon your profile. Most people who check out your profile are going to likely be through outreach you've done, or referrals, in which case they already know that you're open to selling work. There's exceptions to everything though; if you have a very distinct style and personal brand built around your work, it would make more sense, but if you're providing somewhat general product/ad rendering services, the "DM for commissions" phrase just looks very "starving artist" and not "seasoned professional" in my opinion. As someone who is both an artist, but has also hired other artists for projects, these are the distinguishing factors I notice that subconsciously affect the value/price I put on people's work. Hope this helps clear things up, lmk if anything is unclear!

I'm not super experienced with this side of 3D so I can't say for sure. You could definitely offer your services to other 3D artists or studios but I'm not sure how profitable or well paying it would be to just have strong sculpting skills alone. I wish I could help with this question more
