@GabrielTravelerVideos6 ай бұрын
I looked into it, the problem is that one of the requirements is you have to show proof of accommodation. I couldn't and wouldn't plan out a year of hotels in advance hopping around Greece. So you would basically need to have an apartment somewhere rented long-term. That's something to consider in the future, but not something I'm ready to lock in at this point, staying in one place in Greece for six months or a year or whatever. Maybe at some point in the future I'll find the place that feels right to do that and apply for the visa.

You should go to Thassos Island before it is packed with tourists. You Should Go to : 1. Marble Beach (the smaller one called Saliara, not the one next to the marble port), 2. Chryssi amoudia (golden Sands) north side and middle is better, 3. panagia village, 4. Paradise beach, 5. Alyki , 6. Psilli ammos 7. metalia, and there are many more smaller hidden beaches that i leave to you as a surprise if you want to explore you will be rewarded. There are also antiquities starting from limenas, and again surprises with hiking. The Island is a mountain made mostly out of white marble, it is unique om that. It is small but if you want to explore the hidden treasures you may need 5-6 days. The east side is green with forrests, and the west side has been burnt many times ... so it is like the rest of greece

I 've been in Andros island, but you have shown places that I haven't seen! Thank you! Building with stones and, also old stone bridges, are not common on the islands, but they are common (and well preserved) in the mainland. If you ever visit the mainland, you can find whole villages built this way, that are still inhabited (the area of Zagorochoria, for example). It's a different part of the country, very traditional and beautiful.

Literally "off the beaten track". Thanks for showing Greece as the locals know it, Gabe. No glitz, no glamour; and the shared historical information is extremely interesting. 👍 Watching the convo with Vassilis...thinking about it, we (Greeks) have been saying "όχι" (No) to invaders since the ancient times. However, interestingly enough, in these modern times Greeks are among the most welcoming, friendly and open people anywhere.

Just as Hellenes (am one myself), the Germans, French and Italians etc ALSO have history that goes back. He does not even know European history in general, haha. "We understand ourselves as Greeks". i couldn't understand your word "hora" but did find the word "Khora" if you read the following it seems "Khora means countryside" even though it seems like it means "core". (The ancient word polis had socio-political connotations not possessed by the modern. For example, today's πόλη is located within a χώρα (khôra), "country," which is a πατρίδα (patrida) or "native land" for its citizens.[3] In ancient Greek, the polis is the native land; there is no other. It has a constitution and demands the supreme loyalty of its citizens. χώρα is only the countryside, not a country. Ancient Greece is not a sovereign country, but is a territory occupied by Hellenes, people who claimed as their native language some dialect of ancient Greek). so I hope that means something to you. I have heard Andros is popular and beautiful.. great video.
