This is the reason why I like being prepared for all types of fishing whenever I go fishing. Sometimes the species you are after isnt biting or the spot you first fish isnt producing. You have to be prepared and have a plan B. This is exactly what we did on this episode!

Very productive spot I go in there on a boat last trip we caught 3 limits of sheepshead. Plus 2 limits of reds Flounder bite was good but all small just 1 keeper. Put a live shrimp on a jig head work it like a lure on the edges of the current. Plenty of specks. DSL Texas Roach works very well there outgoing tide

Next time you go there focus on the outgoing tide and free line mullet at the very end of the current literally just a hook and those trout will pick it off the surface and if you wanna catch some winter trout hmu I got you

We will probably go back later in January hopefully its still good🙏 Probably wont take live shrimp next time just a cast net to get mullet

Casting weight, 4' of leader and a brass Dick Nite, smaller size (not the Wee, the next size up). If you get into trout you will hit one every cast. Basically mimics a small minnow. I went out to Texas City Dike and just looked for the bait and every cast in or around the bait I caught a trout.

Slow roll is the name of the game for winter time lure fishing for all species. Shrimp lures, weedless 1/4 gold spoon, slam shady, and DSL 5” paddle tails are what I use most. Trout should be in the deeper cuts especially post front feeding. Still watching this video but they never disappoint.🤙 fish on

Help me out here. So, every winter, I can't catch ANYTHING. Not a bite. But all my fishing friends say winter time is the best time for reds and black drum. I cant get to grass areas with waders or a kayak since i dont own any. Tide is always pushed out and mullet or crab doesnt bring any bite. Only time i can get on water is when wind is 15+mph and water is choppy. So someone, or everyone is lying about the bite, yes?
@GGAnglers
@GGAnglers 3 ай бұрын
So we have been having the same problem as you. For keeper reds they will be either in muddy bottoms or during the day in very shallow marsh area when the sun is out. If tide is pushed out you have to look for spots that have deep holes or areas. Fish will stack in those spots because they have nowhere else to go due to tide being low. Now for big fish they are just starting to bite more. The texas city dike is good right now. We had a great day yesterday . They arent lying its just a little harder in the winter
