Minecraft uses multiple tickrates to track different things, but I think that large servers actually increase the one that tracks player input via commands.

​@@dr.insanity9087 No, they don't, everything in Minecraft is based off the games internal tick rats of 20 Ticks Per Second, if that were increased, then everything in the game would run faster. If it were lowered, whether manually or due to lag, then it becomes slower, so in order for everything to run right, the game has to be at 20 TPS all the time. Big servers just have the hardware to be able to have all players online with a stable 20 TPS still, which is only possible due to servers like Hypixel redirecting players to a completely different server, which would be better known as lobbies, which results in multiple sets of hardware being used rather than just one. (I hope that all makes sense.)

It's actually easier to hit shots on 20 tick as opposed to 60 bc the lag comp makes the amount of time your shots pass through the target longer, making it more forgiving when you shoot your shot between ticks

This is really true. Cause everytime you're about to aim and are shooting at the same time the shots wont start registering till like youre locked on aiming for 0.5 secs. should be instant. Like you have to be holding the trigger down snd then itll eventually start hitmarkering...usually up close when aiming... not preaiming. But even sometimes pre aiming the shots just take forever it seems like since it should be instant.

The issue is that raising the tick rate to 60 would require activision servers to process data in a much shorter timeframe, which would also then cause lag and weird interactions, it’s probably set at 20 because that’s the ideal midpoint between processing time and update speed. In smaller lobbies through(like for multiplayer), a 60 tick rate is definitely possible though
