This is a breath of fresh air for me. I all time see these listings with unrealistic expectation and low salary and I'm like I'm never gonna apply for this! But this video shows the clients just don't know about design that much

This sort of mentality for soon to be graduates is the same across the board as it's something that I remember feeling. I was lucky enough to chat with a freelance design recruiter who told me that over 90% of design graduates don't go on to find roles in graphic design. That made me even more motivated to find work, but after I finished my course it took about 6 months to find a job, which came through a friend who knew someone who was looking for a designer. My 2 cents to new graduates would be, don't turn down any role initially, you will grow so much in the first couple of years and it's only the start of the designer life journey.

Thanks so much for making a video regarding my long-winded comment Alex. Since then Ive basically just said fuck it ( as you literally suggested lol ) and am going to keep learning/practicing and persevere past that feeling of self-doubt and inadequacy. Im more of an artistic, technical-minded person, so having a career utilizing my creative ability to help troubleshoot and solve others problems just sounds surreal. I know I shouldnt sell myself short but I often fell that the sense of accomplishment or fulfillment from helping others in that way, to a degree outweighs the money side of things( maybe I shouldnt think too much like that ). Assuming of course the client truly values my help and the experience that is. I was reading an article on Paul Rand and how he designed Next Computers logo and charged Steve Jobs $100k for it. I thought to myself " WTF, Id be happy just to help out and make SOME money doing it". Granted it was Paul Rand who created the logo and the concept booklets for everyone, but good lord.

This is what I needed. I'm at the same place as the who wrote the letter is. To put it simply, I'm a little lost on how to start making my career in Graphic Design/Media happen. I know I need some money though. LOL

Yep. Don't be put off by requirement lists. The reality is no-one applying will have everything they ask for anyway. What to be careful of though are design jobs have requirements that are genuinely not design - copywriting, web development, SEO, ecommerce, marketing etc. Its a big red flag - these are jobs in there own right and can't be squashed into each other.
