I've been an EPIK teacher in South Korea for 3 years. If you're thinking of moving to Korea to teach English with EPIK or as a TALK scholar then I want to tell you some of the pros and cons that I've found. I talk about safety, deliveries, cafes, driving, traffic, banking, and a few other things. I'll let you decide if it's worth it!
If you want to hear more about my 3 years as an English teacher in South Korea:
• 3 YEARS teaching in SO...
If you want to hear what it's like moving to Korea and living in Korea:
• MOVING ABROAD? What to...
If you want to find out why I'm leaving Korea:
• I QUIT MY JOB! 5 CLUES...
If you want to book some of my time to chat about Korea or anything else:

Very dope video, my guy! Wish you well on your life progression as well. I've been going on two times now, and I've fallen in love with how safe it feels as well as with the culture and food thus far. I've thought about teaching, as I've obtained my TEFL, but I'm still unsure because I have a lot going on in the States. This is helping me explore it more though so cheers to you man!

Great vid - the Zebra crossing thing totally perplexes me here as do the motorcycles/scooters. Quite different from my native land as well. Cheers to your brunch enthusiasm! I’ve lived in Busan for a long time but have not experienced the brunch scene. I’m excited to follow your digital nomad life!

You haven't explored Korean brunch cafés yet!? Wow, you're missing out! I spent three years in Korea and never visited Busan, but it's where I had originally planned to live. Life is strange like that I guess.

The part where you showed the supermarket and tile shop had me laughing, because where i’m from (The Netherlands) it’s the same case as for the UK. You can’t just leave your stuff outside for a period of time, it would be gone 😂. I’ve heard it’s really safe in South Korea but didn’t expect to see on this level! I’ve been watching your other video’s about teaching and living in Korea and i wanted to say that your content is really top notch. The way of speaking and your whole vibe is just fun to watch! You’ve earned a new sub 👍 It’s still my dream to one day also experience how it’s like to live in Korea. Teaching was not something i would see myself do plus the fact that i’m not confident enough in English yet because it’s not my first language 🥲. But because of you i must say i’ve become quite interested. My plan is to go on a language study course in Seoul someday. After that i will have to see what kind of path life brings :)

That's so interesting, thanks for your comment! I always thought the Netherlands was safe, maybe just not as safe as Korea! Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I hope you get to Korea soon. Living in another country, wherever that is, is an awesome experience that really teaches us a lot. Have you ever lived outside of The Netherlands?

I was in the US Army back in the early 90s, one of duty stations was at South Korea back in 1999-2000. My Army Camp (Camp Garry Owen) was near the City of Munsan (near DMZ), after being stationed in South Korea for month 14 I learned that the South Korean is a country of Culture. I am glad I actually got to see the old villages near the DMZ, meet the older generation and eat real korean food.

I think a lot of people who serve in the military here find it really easy to never actually experience Korea, so I'm sure you're not alone there! Have you ever been back? Do you think you'd ever come back on vacation or something like that?

I’m (hopefully) moving to Korea in august to teach with epik. I’ve been thinking about getting a new laptop before I go since mine is starting to give up. Should I not get a MacBook then?

Thanks! I’m currently in the process of applying for EPIK. Can internet problems be fixed by using a VPN?

A VPN can get you onto blocked websites, sure. If I want to play chess at school then I use a VPN.

After the three years does it mean you have to leave? or did you leave because there is no progression/bonuses if you decide to stay longer?

Hi. Replying from my other channel. No, I didn't need to leave. I left for new opportunities and just generally to progress in life. Nothing to do with Korea really. There are lots of people who have spent many more years in Korea than me.

what level of education do you need to teach English in korea?
@LowDragLifestyle
@LowDragLifestyle 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. To teach on the EPIK program you need a degree, (in any subject), and a teaching certificate such as a TEFL. That might be the same for the while country, but it's definitely the case for EPIK. Are you thinking of applying?
