No, that doesn't even make sense. It's 3 cups. One is empty and one is filled with ice. The one with ice has holes on the bottom. The trick is having a third cup where the top is cut off, stacked underneath the cup with ice in it. That way, the liquid doesn't spill out. So he's holding 2 cups with the right hand. That's why he doesn't let go of it. Then he drops both of them into the empty one and pulls out only the one with ice in it. The one with the top cut off stays in the empty one and liquid pours out of the holes of the one that has ice in it. Watch how the bottom of the cup with the drink hits the bottom first, when he puts it into the empty one.

@Green.eggs.and.ham.1214 hmm let me try another explanation. You have 3 cups. 1 empty cup and 1 cup with ice in it. The cup with ice in it has holes on the bottom, so any liquid would just pour out. But now you have a third cup. You cut part of the top off and leave only a bit of the bottom part. Imagine like kind of just shortening it. Now you take the cup with ice in it and stack it on top of the short cup. Now it works like just 1 normal cup, see how? The short cup is like a lid or some sort of condom that you pull over the bottom of the cup with ice in it to prevent the liquid from leaking out of the holes. Like covering a shower head with a plastic bag. Now you drop the cup with ice together with the short cup into the empty cup and pull out ONLY the cup with ice in it. You leave the short cup in the empty one. Now, the liquid starts leaking out of the holes of the cup with ice that you're pulling out, filling up the short cup, which is in the empty cup. Therefore giving the illusion, that the empty cup is being left behind with liquid.

It's actually a cup with holes in the bottom set into a half cup. If you look closely after the first pour you can see the drink trapped between the layers. You can also see air gaps between the two cups when he separates.
