Randy, I am 72 and have had cancer for a year now and pretty much confined to my bedroom. I thank you so much for your videos and commentary on bass fishing. It is one of my favorite times when I can get some tips from you. In the past I and my son would go fishing with friends to Wine lake near Perough Falls Ontario canada for a week. The lake has northern pike, walleye, and some lake trout. Recently the lake has some bass that seem to be spreading throughout it. My question is what leader should I use às it seems that no matter where you are you can get a northern pike, and they cause havoc with your leaders.
@andybales73187 ай бұрын
I'd use a black leader anytime pike, musky, gar are a possibility...lost 1 expensive lure that way & NEVER again...they make fairly thin wire leaders & black is my preference

My confidence in jigs was shaky. I used your tip for using a 5/8 oz in late February. The air temperature was 76. I used a 1/2 oz black and blue jig with an 8' heavy action rod with 20lb Basix fluorocarbon. I fished for only 3hrs and caught two fish 5lbs and 7lbs from my float tube. Thanks for the tip!

I caught my biggest while bass fishing on a white hairjig, red head with a uncle josh black pork trailer about 20 years ago fishing the rocks near a dam. A 30lber. No joke. The biggest flathead I've landed.

Hey Randy….you put a link to TW for the jigs you use, but it just takes you to their general jigs page. Do you still sell your custom jigs, with that blue tensile? If not, what’s the best alternative? I’ve got an arsenal of Dirty JIgs baits, but would like to have some living rubber jigs like that to balance it out a little.

I find I get a lot of nibbles, but they never commit. What do I do when I feel nibbles to get the fish to commit

Randy, many of us stopped using Toxic Lead for fishing and hunting years ago. The Big River Valley in your back yard of Missouri became a superfund site in 1992 due to Toxic Lead tailings. For reference, that’s about as old as the info in this video. Superfund went bankrupt in 2003, after which time taxpayers footed the bill for toxic cleanups. Where are the Lead tailings that produce your Lead lures kept? Are they leaching Toxic Lead into groundwater? When you crawl out of the 90’s, would you consider going Lead-free as your first step into the 21st century? You’re awfully quiet about an issue that has had a huge impact on the environment in your own beloved state of Missouri. If you can talk about an A-rig consisting of 5 jerkbaits (45 hooks), surely you can talk about your own personal plans for reducing your Toxic Lead footprint.

If fishing with FFS is legalized cheating, selling, sponsoring and using Toxic Lead fishing lures is legalized polluting. When is your line of environmentally friendly tackle coming out?

@mistertwister18167 ай бұрын
@andybales7318 Do you have a plane to reduce your Lead impact that you could share? I see that the new Shad Rap Elites are Lead-free. And renowned jig and rig company Lindy has committed to being Lead -Free by 2027. Minnesota Fishing Hall of Famer Jeff Zernov is leading the charge here. I don’t use FFS and fish from a canoe or Adirondack Giide Boat with oars, but I’m glad my post caught your attention. Thanks.

Troll ⬆️
@mistertwister18167 ай бұрын
@@mjt1214 I do troll for walleye with homemade tungsten bottom bouncers. They're made with 0.041" stainless steel wire onto which I slide tungsten bullet weights, the heaviest ones I can get. I've found that I snag way less and that I can fish my lines at 45 degrees in much deeper water. There's something about the tungsten being superhard that prevents it from compressing between rocks like the lead does. What are your thoughts on Toxic Lead? Is it too much to ask of you or Randy to explain your thoughts on using and mining toxic heavy metals to go fishing?
