Most ppl agree that silver looks better with cool undertones and gold looks better with warm undertones. it’s not a rule but if ur into it, it can elevate your look :) just like how colors of clothing “look better” with your skin tone
@2000Doriyas Жыл бұрын
Such a simple Way to organize it in your mind and build basic outfits without thinking too much about it, especially if you’re worried about it matching your skin tone because your clothes can just neutralize the color palette entirely.
@TomatoTuesday Жыл бұрын
You’re referring to ‘seasonal color palettes” (Something a bit more complicated that relying on w/c/n undertones to either pair with g/s/b jewelry, but works to ‘elevate’ your look all the same) 👍

I rarely ever wear jewellery because it's incovenient, gets stuck in things, makes it difficult to wear gloves, etc, but on the rare occasion that I do, I know exactly what to wear and in what combination, because at this point I've already built a collection. Most of it is cheap stuff from H&M, thrift stores, flee markets, etc, but a few pieces are higher quality stuff. I prefer golden jewellery but I'm also not afraid to mix gold and silver. What I always wear is my wrist watch with golden metals and brown leather strap, a brown leather belt with brass buckle, a very small silver necklace, small gold plated earrings, and a silvery (titanium) lip ring piercing. That's like the baseline, most of which I don't ever even take off, except the watch and belt. But on rare occasion I'll add more stuff. That's usually gonna be some brass rings (especially my snake and spider rings), a plain but kinda gaudy golden link bracelet, a long brass necklace that has a kinda layered look to it, and a wine red pearl necklace. That last piece is one of my favorites, even though it's some cheap plastic trash, because it's so unusual, and wine red is one of my favorite accent colors which also goes really well with gold. I will typically only wear that with a more fancy outfit though, like a 3-piece suit or waistcoat. Whenever I wear some super feminine jewellery like a pearl necklace I kinda feel a need to balance it out with some undeniably masculine clothing ensemble so it doesn't look like I'm trying to do drag. I love brass because it's a cheap goldeny metal plus can look trashy in a kinda cool, steampunk way, but the problem with brass is that it'll turn your skin green. This means I can't wear brass jewellery every day, because my frigging hand sweat slowly erodes the material plus it's probably not healthy to basically consume that erosion through your skin on a daily basis. So I tend to wear my brass jewellery sparingly. About copper though: I actually like the look of it, especially in combination with brass. Probably because I just in general like wearing a lot of brown. I use brown as my base color instead of black. So most of my jackets, shoes, belts, etc are brown. I get that some people think brown is a boring color, but I think it's underrated. By your logic (that copper is basically just brown) then silver is basically just gray and gold is basically just yellow. Yet we all love these metals, because regardless of what color they "basically are" they're shiny, and people like shiny stuff.

Something not mentioned and how I like to think about it is like in terms of art formalism, and you know what I mean, think back to high school art elements/principles of design, like you got line, shape, form, composition, space, contrast, balance, repetition all that. *That's accessorizing* , when you're pulling together a fit the clothes are the big brush strokes of paint, whereas the accessories are what are in the painting. This isn't to say the fits literally about the accessories or that they should be forefront, but keeping formalism in mind things should work together to create a stronger piece, like if you're throwing together a fit in primary colours (red, blue, yellow.) you throw yellow ring on the right hand, but then you balance that with a red earring on the left side of your ear, which then you put a blue pendant on a necklace to bring it together (shitty example ik). But basically thinking about odd numbers of things attracting attention & even numbers feeling better but being more subtle & then combining that with asymmetry of accessories & how it fits together with similar material, line, colour, reoccurring themes; all that stuff. You will get a better sense of what _feels_ good when accessorizing.
