Small tidbit, dash attack can hit ledgehang on a good chunk of the cast as TL, and I believe link is one of them. Not as high reward as ftilt, but in the relevant mus you can punish ledgehang from much further away

Ledge trapping has probably been one of the hardest things to learn for me. Part of it may be from playing online. I usually try to cover neutral get up or jump sense jump kinda puts the opponent in a bad spot especially when some people double jump from ledge. Then if they start rolling a lot I go for a hard punish sense that one is very laggy.

When I watch good players they never seem to do getup attacks, is there a reason for that ? It has invincibility frames right ? so you can beat some moves

Its the most committal option at ledge. Good players will use safe, lagless moves to cover ledge options and to punish their attempts with getup attack, you have to react or anticipate what they will do next and the risk isn’t usually worth it

@@amphibiansriseup596 I agree. Getup attack is more of a call out option where if the opponent is being too offensive and is standing too close to ledge you can hit them with getup attack. Outside of that it’s not safe and the opponent can react to it, especially if you use it more than once. It’s better to use the other ledge options since it’s more difficult to react to them.

It's the riskiest option. Many characters can shield it, drop shield and get a smash attack. It's still a good option, especially if you see a character charging a smash attack at ledge for example, but know that if you get called out you will probably die for it.

What all of these guys are saying is correct. It’s just way to risky to use unless you’re confident in your callout. If you miss, you’ll most likely eat a hard punish like a smash attack, and you’ll be sent off stage again, now open for an edge guard and more ledge trapping

i know as Fox if I fullhop I can cover every ledge option except roll, and if I dash away from ledge I can cover every option except jump, so in this scenario you should take the 50/50 between roll and ledge jump*. I imagine most characters have something similar where they sort of incidentally cover getup attack, so it's suboptimal. *its not really a 50/50 because i'd rather have you above me than give you center stage for free, so I'm usually going to cover roll, so maybe youre better off usually jumping or something idk.

*ANOTHER LEDGE-TRAP TIP FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS* When you are near ledge *SHIELD* . It protects you from get-up attacks and allows you to safely react to you opponents options. Its simple & very effective.

What if I neutral getup and you release shield thinking you would have blocked a getup attack

Don't over do it because I've shield broken people from ledge for doing that. Also some characters can command grab as well. Also shield has frames for dropping it making it slightly harder to react to the opponents option. So shielding all the time isn't a good option. It's only really a decent option if your opponent always attacks from ledge. But if you opponent focuses on a defensive option, it makes no sense for you to shield when they aren't going to attack in the 1st place.

@@andreazhab Releasing shield is much quicker than neutral get up. Once I've seen you've chosen that options is easy to punish it. Also even if they fail to punish N-Getup you're still stuck at ledge.

@@Chibuga If the opponent is holding shield so long that they get shield-broke from getup attack they are doing it very wrong. Every move has frames but no ledge option is quicker than dropping shield. Also *shielding eliminates one of the opponents options* allowing you to simply focus on jumping or neutral get up. Like Dabuz stated, if you space yourself for roll distance then you should never get command grabbed.
