Pentatonix (abbreviated PTX) is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, currently consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. Characterized by their pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion, and beatboxing, they produce cover versions of modern pop works or Christmas songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with original material. Pentatonix formed in 2011 and subsequently won the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, receiving $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music.[2][3] When Sony's Epic Records dropped the group after The Sing-Off, the group formed its KZbin channel, distributing its music through Madison Gate Records, a label owned by Sony Pictures.[4][5][6] Their KZbin channel currently has over 19 million subscribers and 5.6 billion views. The group's video tribute to Daft Punk had received more than 358 million views as of November 20, 2021.[7][8][9]

I forgot to mention a recommendation I have for you, not necessarily for reaction but more for your own enjoyment. It's from wayyyyy back in 2013 when Pentatonix was still quite young and new. It's a collaboration they had with Todrick Hall called "The Wizard of Ahhhhs" where they combine beautiful music with whimsy for a production that will keep you entertained every second. Ah the Sing Off $200,000 prize meant they were definitely not broke and is how they were able to do it before their touring really picked up. The couch is in Avi and Kevin's shared apartment. Scott and Mitch in another and Kirstie had her own in the same building.

You mentioned that you would love to see them LIVE...well, the best video to "verify" their UBER talent would be the "2016 PopSpring Concert", primarily because MTV sponsored and recorded it...really high quality !! That particular video highlights 4 original songs and will absolutely knock your socks off !! You should check out their tours and see when they would be in your general area and the BUY a ticket !!

They are so good live! Check out Pop Spring 2016. It is an MTV produced video (so really good quality) featuring a 4 song set from Pentatonix at a Japanese music festival. The video is 3 original PTX songs along with their Evolution of Michael Jackson arrangement and runs about 15 minutes long. You can break up the video into parts, but you won't want to. It is a great way to see what charismatic concert performers they are. Plus, it gives you a sample of their absolutely fantastic (and often under appreciated) original music. I think you would love it. Their original music is beyond wonderful. I know I would love watching your reaction to it!

I'll just say that it's always good to go back and view the beginning of an artist (if possible) with PTX we have it on record through 'The Sing Off' season 3, they physically met the day before they auditioned and then had about a month together before the show proper started to really get to know each other as a group, even though Kirstie, Mitch and Scott knew each other since they had been kids, getting to gel with Avi and Kevin would have taken a little bit

This is the first one of these they ever did. Avi's hair and beard will get longer throughout his time with PTX. It is an easy way to date different performances of theirs. Today in his solo career it is never tied back. After M.J. that people love around the world their Beyonce one is very good. Scott's absolute favorite artist.

I'd recommend listening to the Wizard of Ahhhhs (if you know the original movie The Wizard of Oz, it will help you to know the characters) ft Todrick Hall (who produced it). Todrick is a good friend of PTX and grew up in the same area as PTX. Todrick's favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz and of course, the dog that Kirsty is holding is Todrick's real life dog named Toto (of course).
