A true comedy genius. I went to see Bobby Davao in Blackpool and Freddie was in another show which I also went to. I was sat on the end seat of the aisle when an old man pulled next to me in a wheelchair. Halfway through the act the wheel chair started to roll down the aisle building up spreed and the old man fell out. I ran down after him and Bobby jumped off stage to help the man up. It was Freddie Star playing a prank and we all fell for it. The audience went wild with laughter. Two great nights .

This is the note his career/ life should have gone out on. Love, lots of laughter, good friends around him, and the recognition he thoroughly deserved. It’s a very sad reflection of the times we live in that he left this life broken ill and alone. We all still cherish his memory anyway. A true legend and star.

All the People who made thousands of Pounds off of Freddie Starr, who then walked away and abandoned him, all the People on This is your Life, where the hell were you all, Freddie didn't deserve to be treated and Die the way he did, yes he had troubles, he admitted it, but where were you when he needed help, all you hangers on, you should also be ashamed, but none of you will be, Freddie Starr, his like will never be seen again

I heard from a friend that poor Freddie died alone in a chair in Spain. It was his housekeeper who found him after she came back from shopping. My friends mother lives on the same road as him. Makes me sad as I loved him, pure comedic genius and would make my belly laugh. R IP dear Freddie xxxxxxxxx

I`m afraid you are mistaken. He was not a good man at all, actually. Yes, he may have been a great entertainer, but he was quite possibly mad and treated all that loved him (including the woman who was his wife when this was filmed) abhorrently. Even his daughter disowned him. @@mykehyslop198

I used to watch Freddie with my beautiful Gran, 30 odd year ago, doesn’t seem that long ago when you remember the laughter. Kids music is utter filth these days when you watch this comedy it truly is the cleanest most innocent fun, those accusing him were just cruel. Thanks for doing his services pal from 1 director to another. Love the Star on his grave too btw ❤ God bless you Freddie and to you too xx

Absolutely I was in South Shields and a guy walked across in front of me, smiled and said hello. I was convinced it was Freddie Starr then and still am to this day. How many performers, at their peak, would acknowledge someone in such a natural manner. The most outstanding impressionist the world has ever known.

OK, I was already withholding a blubbering reaction after 3 minutes as I respect this man so much, and that very same emotional response accumulated by each minute. For years I wondered how Fred would get on with the likes of the other ultra-great, Billy Connolly, and then, to my great-great surprise the guy walks on, so we've now two mega-rare comedic talents together (not rivals). Yes, at this point I totally broke down and cried as two of the greatest men of their trade were actually mates. I never imagined that they'd be remotely compatible as associates, and to see the affection between them, and the many other famous therein, is merely indescribable. Freddie, you were a very special person, and now you have gone, as we all must, my hope is that you can hear my thoughts or read these words of thanks. You went where I failed. With regards. Mark. Second Side Up.

Freddie was a genius, like many, tortured by his talents. An amazing performer, the stage, his natural plateau, the audience his friends, from where he entertained millions again and again. The end, was unfortunate, hiding away in Spain, agonising in the pit of accusation, never proven, never deserved. Thank god that someone eventually sued the witch hunters and halted them in their deceitful tracks of misery, albeit too late for Freddie. RIP Freddie, your genius will be missed, but your legend lives on in all of us.

I Thank God his mother wasn't alive to see it. I always fight the tears when I think about it. And I can honestly say 'I NEVER believed it of him.' I've seen him on stage, in fact he got my son up on the stage and had him sit in a chair and sent off an electric shock. My son was as funny as Freddie that night. I nearly wet myself from laughing. A woman I used to work with told me how in the early 1980s when she worked as a waitress at a hotel, Starr was an occasional entertainment and would occasionally put his arm around her waste, move close to her and ask if she wanted to come up to his room repeatedly. She would always refuse and give him a look of disgust, yet she said he never took a hint and would keep harassing her occasionally. This was probably around that period.
