@Vortigan072 жыл бұрын
@@mrsWELCOME008 Yeah it was definitely a sad decline and end for a talented guy, no doubt. I was only a primary school kid during his household name days in the 70's but I knew who he was. I got to have a 2 or 3 decent chats with him during quieter periods and he never once talked about Coronation Street (I understand why now!) and I wasn't about to bring it up, but he did talk a lot about his days in the theatre and it was absolutely obvious how much he'd loved those days and talking about those memories clearly made him very happy. I always hoped that just listening, allowing him to talk and not asking a lot of silly questions helped in some small way to bring a little light into those last couple of weeks for him.
@mrsWELCOME0082 жыл бұрын
@@Vortigan07 I wish I could of talked to him too, but I would of cried to see him all forgotten, sick and ignored by his 'so-called Corrie mates' - who mainly play themselves. Adamson should of written a book exposing the TRUE face of these so-called mates of his - but then again, if he did write a book, Corrie would probably sue him cos they want to completely ruin him. If only he left in the 70's and went to Theatre, or took small acting TV jobs elsewhere - but what pisses me of is Roache. That's Ken - he gets away with anything, and yet he is in that show, acting the Big Spokesman of Soap. Adamson attacked him in those 1983 articles, like he did to many others, but he was kind about Hilda actress, who give her credit, gave him a tribute when she learnt he died. Due to this false friendship, I have no respect for those Corrie actors - and I wonder if Adamson was delibrately ''set up' due to the Swimming pool crime. I definately don't condone crimes like this, but 'it's fishy' - and that is what some of his REAL mates have stated. BTW, this is true, I read in the Lynne Perrie book, that the actor who played Bert called the fans 'Peasants' - WTF. BTW Vortigan07, how did Adamson look like - did he have the 'same Len look' or was he totally sick/skinny. Sad story, and a warning about the meaning of friendships with others.

He was the Main Man of the Street, and the reason, I am more interested in Adamson, is the horrible life lessons, he learnt. He found out, the hard way, who his real mates were -like Julie Goodyear who ignored several letters from him in the early 90's. BTW, Corrie lost a lot of credibilty when they made her the Landlady of the Rovers, and I believe the reason for this, is due to her being Podmore's pet. Read the book 'Hush my Mouth' = BTW, I would of preferred to see Fred Gee who I loved to laugh at, being the Rovers Manager or that hilarious Gordon Lewis relief mananger. As for Adamson, he was demonised by The Street after 22 years of service, like Podmore making him unfaithful to Rita AND his son Stanley being unemployed, writing begging letters to Rita in Feb '84. This is worth knowing folks, when Adamson was declared bankrupt, there had been 'open talk via from the direction of Producers, writers, etc questioning Adamson and THAT case. Why was this, because a ruined man living in a one bed flat cannot afford to sue for libel. '

@@alanberkeley7282 It would be interesting to see those damning articles which got him the sack. He was telling the truth about some of them though, but his story is a sad warning about the value of fickle friends, and sneaky sly journos who ply one with Alchohol. BTW, I have heard one strange theory which maybe laughed at by many -a psychic mate told me that Mr Adamson's downfall could have something to do with Roache, aka Ken. The reason I say this, is due to the fact, he deals with the Occult and another, they were not fast friends - I heard from a Psychic mate of mine. Roache, aka Ken could of done 'witchcraft' to get rid of Mr Adamson due to the fact, of simple jealousy/charisma issues - and if you don't believe my Psychic mate, thisnk of this, why is Roache, still the show. He was almost written out FIVE times - but in the last minute, he was saved due to the Producers leaving. Also, I have heard from 'an insider' that Parkes was going to rid him instead of Derek Wilton. - but due to his role of 'unoffical ambassodor' of his meal ticket, oh I meant show, he was kept on. Anyway, the real talented actress of Corrie is Jean Alexander, and as for Julie Goodyear, she was given 'the Rovers' due to being more close to Podmore,. That info was in the book of Billy Walker actor, who has insulted REAL actors like Bryan Mosley, Bernard Yeoans and the extremely, talented Barry Foster.

@@alanberkeley7282 I reckon it could be Granada, as well as 'a part' of her own personality - ie, when people are down, like Adamson, they tend to find out their REAL mates. What Adamson stated in those drunken NOTW articles upset a load of Corrie actors at the time, and due to her loyal friendship to Podmore - Goodyear ignored him. BTW, I thought she played the role of Bet OK -but being on the Producer;s good books - gave her all 'the juicy parts'. BTW, that Billy Walker actor hates her guts - and claimed she plays herself LOL. BTW, the treatment of Adamson lost me a lot of respect for Corrie, and right now, I would not be surprised if that Show is scrapped it is RUBBISH. The acting is dismal in Corrie, and comparing the excellent breakdown act of EE's Shirley Carter, compared to Abi of Corrie, it seems that shows, like Adamson stated is full of amatuers. Peter Adamson could have remained in Coronation Street had he not leaked stories to the press. After his sacking from the street he gave an interview on the TVS programme ‘Regrets’ in the summer of 1985 where he discussed the trial and the aftermath, and also criticised Granada over his sacking. Granada didn’t show the episode and threatened TVS with legal action for using the Coronation Street theme and photos from the programme. No recording of the TVS programme exists and it would be interesting to hear Adamson’s side. I recall an interview he did with the Sunday People in 1994, looking rather dishevelled and living in a rundown flat. He revealed that none of his co stars from Coronation St had ever contacted him since his sacking and he wrote to Julie Goodyear whom he was close to a few times but she never replied. There’s a photo online taken in the 1990s of him wearing spectacles and pulling a shopping trolley. A sad story of a fallen star.
