So nice to see you living on the riverbank ! There's gotta be a way to mount the Thermomate to the side of your narrowboat so you can get washing with less fuss. Something that ventilates the 200F exhaust but keeps the rain from falling in ..... That allows you to keep the batterypack on the counter inside and the gas canisters in their locker ... Maverick!

Hmmm, got me pondering if one of those would be okay to use in the semi enclosed aft of my Norman cruiser (planning on a hard roof conversion with zip in weather/privacy panels) cabin headspace of 5'6" because of extra insulation added by previous owner, knowing my bodge abilities I won't need to worry about ventilation as the transom hatch is broken beyond repair, more worried about 2 stroke outboard exhaust than a 5 minute shower tbh

@TheNomadicCrobot thanks, yeah my Norman 22 is so low in the cabin that I struggled to get around when I was checking it out to buy her, originally had 5'10" clearance but 6" thick foam board insulation means my 6'3" carcass will be relegated to cockpit showers lol, similar issues with the ol' diesel heaters too but I figure if I can vent the exhausts outside the cockpit maybe I'll be okay especially with the CO & LPG gas alarms I've already fitted, paranoia can be useful imo

Very interesting and educational seeing "The Maverick" work out how "Thermomate" will work for you. We had fun with the shower system, and it was something we needed if we wanted to go on a big cruising adventure. We are very lucky to have the maverick hes a very useful friend to know. It felt great...in the past we have had to use a bucket...not the best way to shower...so this is a small upgrade for the time being, Have a lovely week

You may be able to get a more restrictive showerhead to conserve on water consumption. Really impressed that I was able to get hot outdoors. Most of these types of instant hot water units don't work great with less than "room temperature" air. This means that even in a cold spell in winter, you may be able to have a shower. Maybe buy a curtain ring & mat to keep the mud off the feet to complete the kit?

This will be a bit of a challenge to use as it gets colder. I'd recommend you get one of those pop up shower tents - you can get a very cheap one for less than £20 that's just a cubicle, or if you're willing to pay more, a larger one that has a shower cubicle and separate changing room. Bex can build a slatted platform so you don't have to stand in the mud.

When you finally build a shower on the wombat look into a recirculation shower. Youll only use about 5 litres of water each but it requires a separate tank and some filters

@TheNomadicCrobot not many people use them for some reason but they save water. As long as you're prepared to keep the filter system clean and change them when needed they're a fantastic idea. Another great episode where Chris gets to enter the secret subterranean lair of The Maverick. Hmmm. Could it be that The Maverick is also an alien? Probably. It would explain a lot. It occurs to me that since the shower kit that you have can be a stand-alone system, could you not build it into the boat when you refit your bathroom? If it is properly vented, it should be possible to reduce the humidity after use as well. Better call The Maverick back again to work on Shower 2.0 !!!

Funny you should be in the elephant and shower zone. When offshore my roomy was on his bunk waiting for me to get out the shower, whilst in the shower I managed an Olympic gold width and length fart, I was mighty proud and giggled as only a proud father of fart could, my roomy “f-me sounded like you was drowning a baby elephant” I can no longer fart in the shower without a giggle at the memory.

Hi Guys. Couple of questions regarding the portable shower ?. Considering it is running off Gas,it would really be worth checking out with someone certified with Gas if your Set up is ok. Not sure why you had to rig it up so far away from your boat and the actual Gas Locker ? Wouldn’t it be better if the Gas bottle is one that is already insitu so you don’t have to Lug a big ol’ gas bottle around ? And then you could have rigged up the water heater just on the side of the boat by just hooking it up onto the Top Rail or just having the water heater inside the Gas locker as well 🤷‍♂️. It looks like a Lot of Faffing around and personally I wouldn’t really call it portable considering there is so much stuff that it actually requires in order for it to work,you might just as well rig it up Inside the boat in the Shower/toilet you have on the boat 🤷‍♂️. Chris…… Rule 101 when opening up boxes is never using a Stanley knife to open up the Top seal ( just in case something is under there and you end up cutting through it ). I keep waiting for the episode where you were actually stranded because of the Flooding we had around St. Neots and Bedfordshire ??? . If you are thinking seriously about having that portable shower you are going to need to get something that is comfortable for your feet and stops them getting muddy and easily washed and dried out and easily stored,have a look in Tesco or Asda for the Pads that are available but for you to sit on ( it’s a silicone mat ) but it would probably make for a extremely good portable shower tread Mat !!!. Bex,keep a close eye on Chris this bonfire night and especially if you are letting him near any Fireworks 🙄….having fun it the main thing and we all know that Chris can get a little bit carried away with the moment but seriously some of those things can cause some pretty serious injuries and

We had intended to use in the locker but alot of the leads and pipes just went long enough, this set up probably isn't ideal for some, but we had fun making something to make our time cruising a bit more manageable as we havent got a shower. @@helicopter12345678 nothing wrong with being a bit serious when it comes to dealing with propane gas and electrical’s ( plenty of people off grid have lost their boats and vans and in some cases their lives because they didn’t know what they were doing,lots get scalded and scarred for life ). Fireworks are serious business ( especially these days with some of the more explosive variants )……safe distance for 99% of them is a minimum of 8 metres and how many people these days have gardens that big ?. I’m one of those people who has seen the ' Bad ' side of things where things go wrong or something isn’t done right…… Gas explosions and fireworks accidents and seeing families crying in the streets where they see a loved one dying or being maimed for life kinda makes you think a bit more serious. Me and my family still have fun at Fireworks night but it’s at a display 🤷‍♂️. Portable showers are great but there are some that are a lot less complicated and less to go wrong

Hi, I wanted to send a video of how I use your heater next to my shower cubicle. It's will not gas you out it's as any gas heater, but I do open window. Now used as a kitchen heating system for over 3 years. It can be plumed straight into your shower, shower cubicle, and tray in sales. As you have installed, you can do it. Happy New Year ted
