The bit that made me most angry was where the mum badmouthed the grandma for offering food to her dead ancestors on special days, as if that's shameful or weird. It's no different from westerners laying flowers on people's graves, and it's a way we remember and cope with loss. And the grandmother's belief system didn't require she judge or hate on gay people.

JWs aren't supposed to do those things because it's considered idol worship. You're not supposed to worship the dead. It doesn't matter whether it's similar to laying flowers on a grave, JWs don't do that either, it's forbidden to worship the dead.

The sad thing is Gloria was being more reasonable than the dad here. Yeah, if I was a parent and my kids reach a certain age I would encourage them to get jobs so they'll get experience and an income early. Also, yeah, I'll put my kids' education above all else. Then came the shoes thing which was out of left field. If I had an older kid and they pass down clothes they don't wear anymore to their younger sibling, who am I to judge? This just shows how parents can really damage their own kids. Also, the story of Lot's wife disturbed me as a child. I don't know why, I was never a JW, but I did grow up Christian.

How does a “religion” that claims to be racially equal do such stereotypical things. I was born in the Watchtower and now I am a extremely proud disfellowshipped person in this cult. It’s so crazy how racist the Watchtower is and the members who are people of color don’t even see it. There is only one person who isn’t of European background in the governing body. Where is the Hispanic, Asian, African, Arabic and so on in the governing body? Why can’t they give direction to everyone? They have that one token black guy to look like they are “diverse.” It is a slap in the face to each and every JW that is not of European background. @SeenNothinYet18 күн бұрын
Lots wife situation was really one of the threads in the Old Testament that blames and/or devalues women in general & particularly in contrast to the men. Just earlier when the ‘angels’ went to Lots place, they get threatened with sexual assault by a mob - Lots solution was to offer up his little girls to protect God’s messengers. Lots wife WAS NEVER getting away safely, the “Old Testament God” was always about ‘making examples’ of women since Eve. God always only spoke to the men and told them to “get their women inline” OR ELSE! So the women are expected to obey their husbands NO MATTER how crazy they are.

I am from South Asia. It is really important for the head of the family to be a man in our culture. Most of the families are like these. Sons are way more important than daughters. Only they can be head of the family. Sometimes some women take charge and they are seen as bad. Because they are doing too much. They are suppose to ask help from other men who are relatives (by blood). But they take decisions of their lives on their own. As if its their lives. How dare they!!!! One time my aunt said it's really important for a woman to get married. Because if she doesn't, who will control her? Her father controlled her before marriage and husband will control her after marriage.

My sister is a JW and also is unable to work due to a car accident. I, her son, and my parents have provided her financial and other support (including housing) for the last many years. None of us are JW. Every time she speaks about her health and financial difficulties she goes on and on about how "Jehovah provides." Each time we have to hold our tongues and not point out that it was actually her FAMILY that has provided for her.
@SeenNothinYet18 күн бұрын
The “Jehovah” here is JW, it’s the only way this progression of events barely makes any sense. The hierarchy is ‘actual God’ -> JW -> ‘Man of the House’ -> ‘Household/Family’. The new house is there before the mom starts working because the dad was still nice, but shit happens AND he does recognise that they need the money even though he wined all along. I think the main antagonist is his inability to continue providing like he was, threatening his leadership role & the hierarchy. And if this went on long enough, his family might start getting all sorts of ideas other than indentured servitude. They wouldn’t even have to stop being Christian.

Pretty much any employer nowadays would provide reasonable accommodations for religious practices. In a lot of cases, it’s legally required I feel like this idea of companies forcing people to scale back their faith is just a watchtower invention. In the real world, that opens up to lawsuits

One of the things I hate most about this movie is the name “Remember Lot’s Wife.” I feel like Lot’s wife is portrayed wrongly in almost every Christian/Catholic/JW movie. She was never being ‘materialistic’ by looking back, she was being human, then punished for it.

Y’know. This whole cult reminds me of that christmas SpongeBob episode where he and a lotta characters are at a Christmas tree just singing “Santa’s coming tonight tonight! Santa’s coming toniiight!” Over and over. Until eventually everyone leaves. Only difference is SpongeBob isn’t making them give up their way of life

You know, as muslims we have a saying that goes like this: "Make du'a and tie your camel". Du'a is prayer, asking God for something. Say you own a camel and you don't want it to run away while you sleep. Make a prayer that it don't run, and then take steps to prevent it from running. The action is if not just as important, almost as important as the prayer in our book
@littlethingsathome18 күн бұрын
Dua is not a prayer, Dua is Dua. Prayer is 5 times a day and we prostrate, Dua is little sayings to Allah SWT, but prayer will get us to Jannah!

It's absurd to me that they wrote the husband as what's basically a blatant parody of a egotistical Christian and made him be in the right. Like, mate, almost every well adjusted religious person is gonna tell you to not be like that guy.

This is exactly how my family is and it is quite sad. They do not care what happens in this life because they believe they're destined for heaven, so nothing in this life matters. Great video, great channel.
@animalsandlifelife563118 күн бұрын
Something i noticed is that in all of these videos is that their main conflict is always about a "temptation". Not something like relationship issues, building something, kid struggling in school, literally anything else. Its always something regarded as a temptation that is the conflict of the show. Like everything is supposedly "perfect" until the temptation. Like the watchtower is trying to constantly remind members of the org that they cant follow the "temptations".
@SeenNothinYet18 күн бұрын
And the what they deem a “temptation” is at times ridiculous. Even in this video the actual evil temptation is people being away from work, sorry church. At least at a job they feign work/life balance AND IMPORTANTLY they pay you…then call on your day off & you have to reply to emails like IMs. JW’s only offer is salvation from eternal damnation which will cost you everything.

I've only just come across this channel earlier today, I am so hooked. I was never a part of the JWs, although I was raised by 4 denominations of Christianity. My family consists of my grandparents: Protestant & reformed. My parents: Roman catholic and my aunt: Anglican. I was never shunned by anybody. my grandparents loved me even when I wore satanic symbols, I was always welcome in their home. They would always invite me but never force me to come to church. They would pray over their meals, pray for us when they go to bed and they still do. They supported my niece when she came out as Bisexual. My parents strayed from the church after my brother was born and the church tried to push them to bring my hospitalized brother in for his baptism, being baptized myself allowed me to get married in a roman catholic church if I wanted to. My aunt who was raised by my grandparents was pretty much like my grandparents.. I now live a life without religion, unlikely to practice as I just want to live my life as full and happy as I can. When I see these videos, I am reminded that I'm one of the lucky ones.. I feel bad for those that have ties to JW and mormon families/churches.. I hope they get that sweet release from the cultish deathgrip sooner rather than later, everybody deserves happiness.
@august631619 күн бұрын
Funny how they could be rich and happy if they just let go of religious guilt
@SeenNothinYet18 күн бұрын
It’s not even ‘general religious guilt’, it’s specific JW guilt. In the majority of Christian strains the everlasting guilt sprouts from “sin” and/or living a life without God. JW’s implementation of doctrine like “God 1st” is akin to a corporate structure or military rank, with said God at the top of the chain of command. They also intentionally use Jehovah (Jesus essentially) sidestepping the ‘trinity’ - the nature of which aside includes the ‘Holy Spirit/Ghost’ who (personhood applies) is supposed to be the believer’s HELPER. This for many is the connection to his Almighty, a support while living on earth and the nurture of the faith [through trials & tribulations] etc… Simply put, the ability to be a Christian without a church or congregation. JW [mechanically] inhabits that role which then means there is NO way to any spirituality apart from them.
@theadskipper292820 күн бұрын
I think they are going to grow to regret the whole broadcast and dramas idea. Tony Morris was the first victim because of that unhinged rant about not changing policy and they scrubbed all his videos from the site. Then they scrubbed those videos about shunning… I hope the authorities look at their Caleb and Sofia videos to see how they psychologically abuse their children I wouldn’t be surprised if you start seeing those cartoons magically disappear as well 🤦🏾♂️ The internet is undefeated.

The part when they're questioned if they have a problem with gay people and they constantly do everything in their power to not give a straight yes or no is honestly so fucking irritating. Whenever i hear people give a lecture on how the bible says it's wrong and they're just doing as the bible says, it feels like they're just using it has a shield/scapegoat for their shitty beliefs because they don't wanna get in trouble. Which should be seen as shameful for people like them, considering how much they preach about how they will always stand up for their beliefs unapologetically until their last breath no matter what.
