Hi all -- I'll have an updated video on this deck soon, but if anyone is trying it out, I'd highly recommend adding one copy of Light Up the Night to the sideboard, as it can really speed up closing out the game. In the games where you start going off, really the only thing that can stop you is your timer, so I've found Light Up the Night to be a great addition -- much faster than recycling Helixes. Anyone else working on ranking up with this deck this season?

Note to anyone playing or considering this deck -- viewers have discovered that full control and end-of-turn stops do NOT work on the mobile Arena app, so you will lose to the Gambit trigger no matter what you do. Until Wizards fixes that bug, you'll probably want to only play this combo on the desktop app.

Ooh I like the bit of transparency on the text boxes. Thanks!
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I was worried it would make the text hard to read, but I think I found a level of transparency that lets you keep up with the board state but still keeps the text clear. I'm really happy with how it worked out. All the credit goes to commenters who suggested trying it!

Hey I was curious how you stop the lose the game trigger from Alchemist's Gambit? I have tried entering full control but I still never get the chance to counter the trigger? Is there something special I have to do?
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Hmm, I thought full control would do it, but if it doesn't, just add stops manually to your second main phase and end phase (by clicking the phase symbols in the bottom right). That works for sure. If you need a reference, check out this spot in my other video to see me do it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5CalYOlnLVgo5Isi=MEvLSzT5eJzuFVse&t=700 It's a little hard to see since you can't see the cursor, but watch the bottom right to see the phases light up with the stops as I click them, and then the Gambit trigger wait patiently to be countered.
@justinkemple792511 ай бұрын
@BullingdonMTG it might be due to the fact I'm playing on an iPad. Lost 4 times now due to the trigger, lol.
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Oh no, what a bummer to get to the most fun part and then lose due to technical issues. That's a shame. Definitely try setting manual stops if you haven't yet -- I don't know if they work on iPad but I assume they do. It _should_ be if you have a stop you get to respond to absolutely everything, so theoretically it should work.
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
@justinkemple7925 Another viewer just confirmed that for some reason the stop doesn't work on the mobile Arena app. Seems that for the time being this has to be a PC-only combo!

OMG! I love this deck and this video. It's amazing! Could u plz give me some advice about sideboard and tips on bo3? Because I want to build and use this deck for offline standard competitions. THANKS!!!
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. Unfortunately, I play almost exclusively Best of 1, so I won't have very useful advice for you. The other challenge is that the deck already uses ~5 sideboard slots for the combo, so you have less space to work with. All I can say is that in my Bo1 experience, you virtually can't lose to midrange decks that don't have blue for counters, so I'd dedicate some slots to optimizing for aggro and some others for optimizing against control, i.e. more counters. It's possible that the Bo3 meta will have better answers for the combo in games 2+3 as well (e.g. instant speed graveyard hate, like Hearse can grab your Doppelgang), so it's possible you want an alternate win con or 2 in there as well if you run into a match with answers like that. I might but a Zurgo & Ojutai in there for that. Sorry I'm not more help, but if you try it out, let me know how it goes!

Sweet brew and nice video presentation! Is this your creation?
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
I so love this combo that I wish I had come up with it, but I can't take credit. I played against a deck that used the core combo on the ladder (piloted by a player named yuuya, who a viewer told me may be a Pro player from Japan). I didn't see their whole deck though, and I rebuilt it from scratch with some changes, so in that sense it's mine. But the genius idea of Arcavios + Doppelgang + Gambit was theirs.
@JeremyDeere11 ай бұрын
@BullingdonMTG Super creative. Very fun to watch. I pilot aggro the best but I do okay with control and midrange too. I've made Mythic rank two different seasons. Haven't played in months though so I'm back to bronze. Lol

Can't counter the gambits effect. Don't know what im doing wrong
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Apparently full control doesn't work, but setting stops manually definitely does. I set a stop in second main and in end step just to be super safe. If you haven't done it before, you can see me do it in my other video right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5CalYOlnLVgo5Isi=MEvLSzT5eJzuFVse&t=700 Watch for the phases icons to light up in the bottom right -- if you get the "stop sign" symbol lit up behind those phases, the Gambit trigger should hold and allow you to counter it.

Why not rake realm breaker to steal green mana to fuel your card?
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
There's one copy of Realmbreaker in there, largely just to help ramp, but the fact that it can color fix your green for you in certain matchups is certainly nice. I don't think I'd put any more in though, since it's often a terrible draw, so it'd be hard to rely on fully as your source of green. But with Celestus and Grotto, I haven't found color to be much of a problem (though I think I would add another Grotto or two if I were doing it again).

Welcome and thanks for the comment! That deck looks cool, I'll add it to my list to try out. I'm curious about 3 main deck Stone Brain. Obviously it's great against Jace decks, and an awesome answer to the Ojutai's that are everywhere now, but is it good enough against the rest of the field to warrant that much space? What are you naming in other matchups, like against aggro?
@vertigo374311 ай бұрын
@@BullingdonMTG i added Stone brain cause i was facing a lot of control/ mill deck and removing the deluge/ jace or even some times the dissipate to enable my combo Was absolute free win. this deck is suprisingly good against boros convoke not only because of the 4 lockdown but also because they usually want to set up lethal by turn 4/5 which give me enough time to ramp. sometimes i find myself naming emodane recruter or eos to protect myself from nasty lethals. The only hard match up is VS mono burn red.

Why no green mana?
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
Because it's already a 3-color deck with strict color requirements (double white on turn 3 for Lockdown, double blue on turn for for Deluge), it's hard to squeeze in green without making the regular Jeskai plan suffer. If I were building it again, I'd include one more Crystal Grotto, but even as it is in the video I never had any trouble casting Doppelgang when the time came for it.
@koo-hip940611 ай бұрын
They already explained why no green mana in the video.... Someone didn't read.

I added in +2 Light up the Night +1Solphim for the additional wincon -1 The Sun' Twilight -1 sunset -1 Defrabricate maybe -1 Gambit for another Doppelgang
@BullingdonMTG11 ай бұрын
I'd hesitate to take out Defabricate, I've needed it on a few occasions when I needed the 3 mana extra turn and then needed another turn after that.
@llathem10111 ай бұрын
Yeah, sunset revelry can go, but white sun's twilight is a one turn clock with gambit, and defabricate is necessary to keep the combo going and/or to save your butt when you miscounted your mana. Another copy of doppelgang is a waste tho, since you always copy invasion, and invasion can get the one copy back from graveyard. If you're just looking for a plan b for funness sakes, then by all means go nuts. However, I like the one simple plan, with all the counter spells against all the reenact decks. This is already my third time watching because bullingdon gives very good tips on how to not mess up with the deck, like having to manually stop the game so gambit doesn't kill me, that happened quite a few times to me
@NicoRobjn11 ай бұрын
@@llathem101Yes, I can confirm that! Sun's Twilight is a legitimate second win con. I've been dealing with UW control a lot the last few days, which is why I removed it immediately.
