That's some "Mack truckin" right there! You gotta love an old R, U, or DM and even the occasional B model (They're rare to see working but not impossible. I have seen them where I'm from in the NY, NJ, and Philly area) still on the job with someone who knows how to drive the old dog. Even if the truck was built before the driver it looks like. Somebody taught you well! Good Job!

Another great video, from the camera's POV I felt like I was right there with you going up the hill. At the point of the first wheel spin I gripped my arm rest thinking it was the passenger door. Love to see you guys maintaining and running the Macks they're a reliable breed of machines that were built tough to handle the job.

I have went backwards and spread going uphill in a mack but it had the two stick 6spd and i could shift and get the power off the wheels to keep them from spinning and just let that mack pull down low in the rpm's
@AppalachianRust21 күн бұрын
This truck actually had the same transmission but instead of the hi lo reverse stick this truck has an air shifter. I can shift through reverse too. Back spreading here probably wouldn’t have worked well. I did back spread on a haul yesterday, I recorded it but it’ll be some time before I have it up.
@davidcaskey466921 күн бұрын
@AppalachianRust i never got tired of grabbing gears in reverse backing up on a pile to dump. I've got old trucks like y'all 76 359 3406b was a factory 5x4 but pull 5spd out many years ago and put a 13spd double over in it and keep the 4spd auxiliary it has 2spd dana 52 on short spring Hendrickson the other trk 78 W900A but it has KT 525 in it and same running gear as the 359. My dad bough both new. I 62 yrs old now dads been dead since 2010 I still haul a little coal and gravel and a occasionally heavy haul when I need to strech my legs. Don't get rid of your old ones they will never leave you to come home in limp mode
