Yep. Izzy looks quite healthy on what she has been having. The saying "Fed is best" that is used when bottle feeding is done instead of breast feeding relates to Izzy too I think. She is well nourished and i agree she had so many challenges to overcome that needed addressing before this current adventure into the world of solid food.

I’m not a child dev expert, or even a parent, but have you considered the sad possibility that Izzy was probably force fed in the orphanage, and maybe trauma around food put her right off? Saying that though, she looks to be happy and getting used to what you’re doing with her though, and it seems to be helping. I have a real interest in special needs and disability, especially how some children and adults around the world are treated in institutions like the ones in countries like Ukraine, Bulgaria and China. It’s too awful to imagine sometimes, and the thing about taking in a child that isn’t your biological child, from a foreign country, is that nobody really knows for certain what really happened before the child was in your care. All that matters now though is that she’s out of harm’s way, and she’s loved and protected in your home. She’s a tough, resilient, precious little angel.

I let the kids play with the food on their table. She wanted to lick the water on her table. Thats great. Let her experiment with hand and face touching her textures. Eventually it gets in mouth . I used a pool with rice in it when I ran my school award winning school. I adopted 4 special needs children as a single mom three asians+ one bulgarian 1 from Cambidia and three from Quebec.. They had tactile issues too. When you put them in rice pool rub their feet with rice and hands. Rub the body with the rice as they accept the tactile expériences more. Eventually they enjoy having more experiences with food in mouth because it gets the brain+ body more used to tactile when you do different textures like rice in a pool. There are so many textures to put in a pool to experiment with. Jello is a great tactile experience too! I have a master degree in special education. I taught my son with DS+ AUTISM TO swim at two and READ+ WRITE by 4. THERE is so much success when we find answers with passions+ love ♥️♥️♥️. For her cleaning her mouth if Isabelle doesn’t uses the towel, maybe make some sleeve covers with towels it keeps clothes less stained. And Isabelle gets extra stimulation if the towel structure is different. It’s something i did with towels made some like painters apron for kids.

One was knocked out in the orphanage, and another was knocked lose and died in the same event. We had the dead one removed when we came home. The new teeth are coming in slowly, we guess because of slow growth - the reason we give her HGH shots every night.

It's amazing the progress made once a child comes home. 2 of our 4 kids adopted from China were major changes. Our first adoptive kid was just like Izzy, and had to learn to do everything, and while she may never fully recover the severe neglect that was done to her, today, she is night and day better. The other was super tiny at nearly 9, the size of a toddler. In the first year she grew nearly 7 inches and doubled her weight practically. By year 2, she is now nearing puberty normally at almost 11. Our other 2 kids were in amazing orphanages and foster homes but still grew inches within the first 6 months home and gained weight fast. I look forward to seeing our next child, our 5th from China in 2021 and the amazing progress each of our kids will have made by next year, so exciting!!! Having a family really makes these children happy and healthier....and we love that we get a front row seat to watch our kids thrive, such blessings.
