Thank you for the listen dude! Not only are Paradise Lost Death-Doom pioneers as mentioned in the comments, but also a big influence on Gothic Metal . The reason I chose this song is ... well I like the song, also it's a video with the band as well (kind of) 😆. They truly do have an awesome catalogue of music. Fun side note: Nick Holmes, the singer of Paradise Lost also sings (GROWLS) for the Death Metal band Bloodbath and before that, so did Mikael Åkerfeldt! 🤘🤘

Influence? They pioneered the gothic metal genre too. The only other band that were as early as them with mixing doom, metal and goth rock was Type O Negative, and they weren't doing that until Bloody Kisses that was released in 1993. Paradise Lost released Gothic in 1991. Every other early major gothic metal band has referrenced Paradise Lost as their influence into going with that style. Credit should go where credit is due. They pionerred not one, but two metal subgenres. Deathdoom in the late 80s and Gothic Metal in the early 90s. They were also one of the first extreme metal bands in integrating synthezisers with their music. The only other extreme metal band that did it before them was Nocturnus, if I'm not mistaken.

Ooh yes, Paradise Lost! I love this band. They've been around since the 90's and I've been listening to them from the 90's. Hell, it was all I listened to during some of my depressions. Some other great songs by them are 'Frailty', 'Redshift', 'One Second'. I really hope you'll check out more Pradise Lost.

Oh my god, what a pick, the band, that is..... One of the godfathers of death/doom along w/ Anathema and My Dying Bride. Their first two albums, "Lost Paradise" and "Gothic" are such iconic albums. They went a bit "lighter" style with "Shades Of God", "Icon" and "Draconian Times", but those are amazing albums nonetheless. Check out "As I Die" fron "Shades..." They had some "weird" pop-ish era in 1997 to early 2000, but gladly they get some what back to their roots with 2012 album "Tragic Idol".

I wouldn’t call this era “weird”, for me it was this period of the group that became the starting point, I heard “erased”, then “say just words” and fell in love with this group. I think there are a lot of people like me 😉 yes, it’s poppy, but that’s not necessarily bad 😁

Although I still haven’t been able to appreciate their doomiest hit “beneath broken earth” and don’t share everyone’s enthusiasm, the latest album hit me to the core, because it’s a mix of everything I love about this band.

dude, listen to the song from their latest album, it’s called “the darker thoughts”, I have it on constant repeat, it’s the best thing I’ve heard from them in the last 10 years. The song is just a damn masterpiece and so is the video for it. love them ❤ These guys have been making masterpieces for over 30 years now.

Paradise Lost, yes! I haven't heard much of their old stuff but they're often mentioned as one of the pioneers for death/doom. This was a great song but they can go much heavier, just saying 😁 A personal favourite for me is "The longest winter", it's absolute doom metal gold.

looking forward to this one! I am listening to PL since I was 14 (so almost for 20 years). One of my all time favorite bands. Love all the different eras PL had stylewise. they vary from pioneers of gothic metal, over synthwave to doom metal. Nick Holmes is on 2 bloodbath albums too (death metal) and has a second band with greg macintosh from PL too (they are called Host). this band has big history! cheers dude!

As for the song “rise of denial”, it is not even included in the top 30 songs from Paradise lost 😆 but from the same album the absolute masterpiece is the song “faith divides us - death Unites us”, and the video for it is very strong and cool and emotional, I also highly recommend it

Have not heard of them. Yeah, I was definitely getting metallica vibes, Or some other metal metal coming through. I was digging the way the band sounds. Yeah, I can hear a bit of James Hetfield in his voice, too. That was a straight up, good sounding rock metal song. ❤ and ✌️

Another band I have lost touch with. They are aging well. Their sound always had a tinge of the original 80s goth vibe. Yeah, solid riffage when it kicked in. Great build up and went places. Definitely going to have to revisit them.
