I have had the smaller version of this sprayer for a few years now and it works great. 1. Replace the ball valve with a metal one, 2. When using herbicides always use a surfactant to allow for greater adhesion of the chemical to the plants. Tractor Supply has good products for everything, 3. Always remember to keep the on/of switch in your hand so as to be able to turn off the flow during stopping or some maneuvers. The lil pumps can put down quite a bit in just seconds, 4. Clean out after every use and I leave the drain plug loosened a lil and the top off to dry it out when not in use, 5. Mine doesn't have the flow control, but do some test runs to see what setting & speed equates to putting down 1 gal/ 1000 ft^2

I have a similar one. I spray herbicide on 2 acres. Works great. Just fyi I noticed the dripping before you mentioned it, because mine don’t do that. Great channel. Thank you.

Don't be concerned about the dribbling nozzles. Mine did it the 1st time I turned it on. I had a few leaks because the connections were not tight. Common issue. You might have to use plumbers tape but I just tighten all of the lines and it work fine.

Bought one of these last week and sprayed 1 acre. So much better than walking with a handheld or backpack sprayer. The only update I made to the unit was to put plumbers tape on the plastic sprayers. Really glad I purchased this.

Iv had the same one for about 3 years now. works great. I did put a 2 prong end on it the same as a battery maintainer so i could use the plug i have on the back of my mower and 4wheeler to power it.

Hey JD, the NorthStar line of sprayers are very good. I spent about 10 years using a NorthStar 200 gal skid to apply lawn chemicals (until I retired last summer). Of course that was in a commercial capacity. But the quality of the unit was quite apparent. I have also had occasion to use their 15 gal sprayer (the atv mountable model) which uses the same size motor and pump that is on your towable model. Just a heads up for you… always empty the tank every time you use it and flush it with water, leaving chemicals in the tank and hoses can cause them to clog up. You might want to check the nozzles and make sure they are fully tightened and that may stop them from leaking. Also check to make sure you didn’t forget to put in the o-rings on the nozzles. Reid

JD, Although you have some minor issues to resolve with the nozzles, this sprayer will be a huge help around your property. While spraying for ants is effective the better option would be granular baits for your size property. Specifically, Extinguish and/or Top Choice. Extinguish, has and insect growth regulator incorporated that reduces overall the population of the ant mounds. Top Choice, initially was developed for mole cricket control but found during trails that it provided exceptional control of fire ants. Top Choice is somewhat expensive, but at an application rate of ( 1lb per acre) one 25lb bag will treat your property at least twice. The directions states only one application a year is needed and while true, typically you will see ant mounds returning at around 9-10 months depending on the weather. There are low volume spreaders available that you can adapt to the mowers or tractor to make applications. Something to consider going forward.

There has to be a nozzle problem, they should only spray not dribble. In big ag sprayers, we change the nozzles to increase flow (gallons per minute at a set mph) or you slow down your ground speed. Chemicals are expensive and can be dangerous, take care, wear your glasses and a respirator in windy areas.

It’s just the chemicals in the hoses that are dribbling out of the nozzles. There’s nothing that be done about it, unless the nozzles are about the pump. As we know,…liquid doesn’t run uphill unless it’s being pumped.

I have a fimco sprayer for mounting on a 4wheeler. Same concept and probably same pumps. One thing I’ve learned is to run a lot of water through everything after using the chemicals. I put mine in storage without running water through and it gummed up the pump

I have one that is slightly smaller at 25 #. Couple suggestions to make...always use a little oil with your mixture and mix in 2 gallon jug, then add to canister with remaining water. I also filter all my chemicals for particles before pouring into canister. Knee high ladies' nylons work great on the opening of the 2 gallon jug to filter. Be careful if you use a mosquito product with any garlic oil as the particulate is high from garlic skins. A small bottle brush works great to clean the spray heads. I tow mine behind the JD riding lawnmower (22hp).

to get rid of the bugs hanging out in your lawn, use Lemon Dish Soap vs pesticide. Not for fire ants but you will be amazed how you end up 'herding' the bugs/flying insects as they start running/jumping/flying away from where you are spraying. I haven't tried it with a big sprayer like you have but always worked great with the sprayer attached to a water hose version with Lemon Joy in the sprayer. Maybe when you stop, if you open the fill maybe the pressure will release and minimize the dribble?

Looks like a great gadget. I see the opportunity for mods. Wiring. It wouldn't work with my mower without a mod to the wiring because of the battery location. Then I would add a valve to choose between the sprayer and the nozzles.

There are two valves on there that open and close the nozzles. I’ve been in places were I only needed one side, and it worked well. You have to shut both valves off to use the wand.

Seems like a nice sprayer and might pick one up myself. My one question is can you run just the handheld sprayer without the 2 nozzles in the back spraying? It seemed like whenever you had the pump running the back 2 nozzles were always spraying and wanted to know it those can be shut off independently of the handheld sprayer.

Yes Alex, the wand will spray independent of the boom. There is an adjustment handle to switch between the two but you can’t use both at the same time.

The spray nozzles are dribbling. This is not good when spraying fertilizer. You’ll end up with burn marks on your lawn. My spray nozzles have check valves and shut off quick.
