On Mother's Day May 13th, 1984, a warm spring afternoon near Tampa Florida. After spending time with their moms, two boys raced off to fly parachutes made from plastic bags. But soon the wind brought a foul smell, they went off to investigate and found the body of a nude woman lying on the roadside. The medical examiner determined she'd been there for about 3 days, and the position of the corpse told detectives this was not a typical murder case.

True Story: Bobby Joe Long was our paper boy. He delivered our newspaper every morning in an old white panel van. Always waved to my wife, but my dog at the time would go crazy when it saw him. Like barking and growling with her ears flat back to her head. I guess she saw the evil in the guy.

Wow. I do read my dog’s energy and I trust my daughter when she didn’t want to engage with strangers. I also tell parents to not make their kids engage and speak to strangers if they don’t want to. Luckily, babies and animals like me so I may be biased. A little levity for the sad subject.

Normally, I would’ve rolled my eyes at that comment… About dogs sensing evil in people. UNTIL my dog alerted me to some thing I didn’t even know about: 6 months ago….. I saw a guy out on my front deck-leaving packages, and he rang my doorbell because I needed to sign for them. My dog was going ballistic. ABSOLUTELY CRAZY BALLISTIC!! At first, I didn’t think much of it…. He’s supposed to bark at strangers, right? But there was something different about this time…. My dog was literally trying to break through the window to get at this delivery guy!!! I calmed him down, stepped out on the deck and signed for the packages and apologized to this poor guy for my dog. While I was signing, the delivery guy just kept his eyes on my crazy dog, who is now trying to come through the screen door at him …. I mean, I didn’t blame the poor guy. I’d keep my eyes on a crazy psycho dog that was trying to attack me, too! Lol Not long after that… There was a story on the news. They had finally arrested the person they believed was responsible for the rapes of at least four women. When they showed the suspect’s mug shot……😬😬 Yeah. I’m not going to use names, it was a local case- but point is it was my delivery guy. That’s how he selected his victims. His MO was delivering packages, then stalking those women and then breaking in at night and raping them. My blood literally froze when I was staring at my TV screen. My dog, Samson sitting right next to me, looking at the screen, too…. with a low growl in the back of his throat…. Samson got sirloin for dinner that night. True story.

I think his problem was he didn't know how to connect with women so he hated women. She found a way to connect with him which saved her. Ultimately rapists are sent over the edge because a woman is rejecting them. That rejection causes rage and they want to hurt the women for it. So being calm and somewhat "willing" can save you. When these shows first aired on Discovery in the 1990s, the sound mix was vastly different from what we're hearing now. This is just one of the hazards of converting analog to digital. On the original videotape master, the sound is separated into different tracks (dialogue/music/effects) and when it's compressed and turned into a digital file to upload on KZbin and the like, there's only one track for sound and no differentiation in volume between those elements.

Well made documentary. The only thing I usually dislike is the so called "lie detector" being used by police as a serious instrument.

Out of curiosity: Hypothetically: A certain car manufacturer produces a certain popular vehicle with red carpet interior from the same subcontractor. How does the forensics differentiate the red carpet fibers from each other?
@lisagress5009
@lisagress5009 3 ай бұрын
My guess and just a guess. Certain things have lot numbers such as tile carpet etc so that the coloring is the same. So many of a certain lot number are sold and are put on record. Lot numbers are for each batch made. The only reason I thought of this is from me trying to match tile and carpet years ago oh and wood flooring too. I had to replace here and there so bought them. I didn't realize until I installed that lot numbers matter!! Different color or patern variations. Slight but it can be pinpointed to a lot and batch made. I'm not a forensic scientist by any means but it is my guess from replaing small amounts of flooring and was told lot numbers matter. I hope this helps with your question. It's the best I can figure from watching crime shows and what I have experience.

Cops patting themselves on the back... the break through actually came when the victim he released identified the vehicle. Sure, they had lots of evidence, good job there. But that living victim is the one who did a great job remembering all the details while under stress.

Why did they wait so long for the death penalty.
@TheShockwaveDragon
@TheShockwaveDragon 2 ай бұрын
Procedural hurdles, appeals, and more procedural hurdles. Every possible chance is given to people on death row to challenge the sentence in the interest of trying to prevent the innocent from being put to death. Just filing an appeal challenging the outcome of the case you can push the execution date back several years at once, then even longer if a competent defense attorney can bog the trial down by filling motions and challenging evidence postponing or delaying the re-trial by months.
