Maybe you can make a case for champs like kayle that fall behind at a higher frequency but in general you do want to learn to play from ahead way more than u want to learn to play from behind. Get your fundamentals, champ mastery, wave management, midgame lane assignments down before you start thinking about learning to play from behind, esp since alot of playing from behind is just the same as playing from ahead, except you just have less opportunities and room for error.

the reason for the guy first buying boots+Mr/armor/mote is it gives you half a longsword. I notice that you aren't doing that for your first buys so not using the Jack 100%. Opportunity is a consideration to hit the 10 jack stats as a third item. Merc treads isn't super important to the setup but it is important if you want to hit 10 Jack stack at some point.

realistically you'd still get 5 stacks with ionian boots/ tabis so you'd still get the bonus AD, tenacity is a scarce stat which is why mercs are preferable but it *is* doable otherwise
