The biggest drawback with the XPS line especially today is that these laptops are NOT meant for long-term use. Somehow someway, the QC will fail and some issue will reveal itself either relating to Windows OS or the hardware and you'll need to send in this computer for repair. That's what happened to me 2 times...first the track pad stopped working and then my touchbar stopped working. Never again Dell, never again

I take it you have been lucky with your review unit, because there has been so many quality control issues that this review sounds overly positive. I personally returned mine (wish I had seen Just Josh’s video before), and it seems like there is a growing movement of consumers doing the same, on KZbin, Reddit and other social media.
@jaypalmer3806 Жыл бұрын
I’m sure there are issues but the sheer amount of laptops sold, of course there are going to be problems. People only tend to shout when they’re not happy, so there are probably a lot of people with issues, but there’ll also be an overwhelming majority without any issues at all. Josh resolved pretty much all his issues by doing a fresh install, I agree that you shouldn’t have to do this, but it’s not that difficult to do.

f Dell has such poor quality control why aren't their class action lawsuits? Meanwhile, class action lawsuits are filed against MacBook's every other year - cracked screen, green screen, connectivity, thermal throttling, keyboards, etc. Did you get your $395 keyboard settlement check yet?

@@RK-um9tu I think every company have issues with products with the amount of units they build. I have the Dell XPS 13 9320 and it's perfect, none of the issues that others have reported. I've had multiple macbooks and never had problems either. Luck or the draw I suppose.

Not really futuristic, but I'm hoping that Zephyrus your have in line may be the G14. I just bought one last week & it's been a phenomenal machine to me. It's probably a pound heavier than this XPS 13+, but easily makes up for it in performance. Also I am not a fan of the new XPS design language. Touchpad imprints have never bothered me & that touch bar seems like MacBook's but worse. I really hope this thing flops so Dell doesn't ruin the XPS 15 & 17 line. Keep up the good work, man.

Did I see a small dent in the bottom panel, right of center, near the hinge at the video's 1:28 mark? Wondering if Dell has made the bottom panel too thin? Have seen a dent in the bottom vent fins on another recent YT review of an XPS laptop. Just wondering if they need a denser material on the outer panels?

@@saintmay1952 okay, so my laptop does not seem to have the issues he's facing in this video, but I believe that's caused by him having the more demanding 4K screen. I opted fot a 1080p one, and even coming from a 4K XPS15, I don't mind the resolution change one bit. His problems of the low battery life are most likely also caused by the 4K screen; I easily get a full working day of charge out of the laptop running a browser and maybe some other programs alongside it. I've only seen the laptop stutter when I'm changing some peripherals, where the screen and sound jitter for a while, but always returning to normal. Also the laptop not being flush with the desk? Very weird issue, also not relatable to mine.

Yikes, £1800 in the UK list price! That is a lot of money for something with no dGPU. Personally, I can get a MB Pro 14 Pro for less ATM, so that for me is better in almost every metric (display 120Hz miniLED, battery, performance, IO choice, better camera). But you are paying for the novelty of the XPS 13 Plus, so value is def not why you would buy it. The 8hrs is pretty good as most reviews I have seen, have struggled to get past 5 hours! Just Josh review of XPS 13 Plus also had issues and had to reinstall Windows and many comments suggest QC issues. Not a fan of the HOT 12th-gen, so easy pass for me. The 13th-gen looks like just more wattage and cores, so maybe 14th-gen Intel is where we should go. Dell needs to tear up their partnership with Intel and get AMD chips.

The Dell xps 13 plus is such a terrible laptop! The constant overheating issues will slow down the computer, Fans will run non-stop like a jet engine, Part of the haptic trackpad will stop working, Battery life is 2-5 hours depending on usage! I highly do not recommend this xps 13 plus model. The regular xps 13 is so much better! The Lenovo yoga 9i & 7i is so much better than the xps 13 plus by a lot!

Interesting. Sounds like you got a good one, Tally Ho. Everything worked pretty much as it should so yes, a great laptop and a benchmark for the competition. I see that Just Josh got a bad one and almost everything was faulty with it. A real horror show by the sound of it. That’s the problem with Dell - terrible quality control & serious support issues. Pity, if they could fix those and offer more AMD powered options, they’d really be gaining market share. But how long have we all been saying that for - 3 or 4 years now? 😏

Tally seems to be being a little nice with this one. I had the non-plus high res oled & battery life was 4hrs. I can't imagine this one getting 7hrs. In fact, I haven't touched this one yet because I don't have a use for such poor battery life. XPS needs a middle ground like Macs have or something. Also, they need a high refresh rate if it's going to be "perfect." That said, good content as usual. Funny to see a review that's like what'd you see with apple reviews, handwaving some things.
